Monolophosaurus (Wild Safari by Safari Ltd.)

…used in a diorama for Dinosaurs from Asia, during the Jurassic. So if you like the unique species, and hopefully the paint job, I will recommend this model. Available at Amazon.com here:…

Tyrannosaurus rex (Killer Queens by Rebor)

…hose years ago. It’s finally been dethroned by the Killer Queens. The Papo one will always be near and dear to my heart, though. So in closing, if you’re a JP fan, these figures are a must-have. They retail for about $40 US each and I got mine from EverythingDinosaur.com. The quality is astounding for the price. There are other JP-style Rexes out there for a lot more which aren’t nearly as good. Rebor seems to have really found their niche making…

Tyrannosaurus rex (Animal Adventure by Takara Tomy)

…ase, with a dark brown wash over the back. The claws are your standard ‘toy-dinosaur-black’, and the teeth are your standard ‘toy-dinosaur-white’. The interior of the mouth is a dark maroon, while the tongue is a dark red. Overall, this toy is not going to win many accuracy awards, and as a play thing, it has less value than the Futabasaurus. However, this opinion is subjective, since I do not like to pose the tail in ways that are impossible for…

Tyrannosaurus rex (2017)(Wild Safari by Safari Ltd.)

…sed on the famous Sue specimen, which is the largest T. rex known from near-complete remains (although Scotty might actually have exceeded Sue in mass). As such, Hardbit possesses all the correct anatomical features. The massive, T-shaped skull features stereoscopic vision and savage teeth, although the ones in the lower jaw could probably afford to be a bit larger. No question of shrink wrapping here; the orbits and fenestrae are completely hidde…

Sauron (Primal Rage by Playmates)

…immense strength and teeth and godly powers weren’t deadly enough, Sauron comes with snap-on armour pieces for his jaws and feet. This armour did not appear in the video game, but it does add play value to the toy. Sauron also came with a tiny little human acolyte/snack, but it went missing ages ago. No great loss. Playmates also released a much larger Sauron toy that stood around 30 cm tall. It was later reused in the TMNT line and I used to own…

Tyrannosaurus rex (Jurassic Park 3: Re-Ak A-Tak by Hasbro)

…s a child. This was the Tyrannosaurus rex from the Jurassic Park III ‘Re-ak-a-tak’ series and has very recently survived a major clear out of old toys from my household. Regular visitors to the dinotoyblog will know this toy is the exact same shape as the Arctic version reviewed by plesiosauria last year. Despite this, I’d like to think of this review as a sort-of extension, giving my thoughts on aspects of the ‘Re-ak-a-tak’ version which also app…

Tyrannosaurus rex (King Rex by Rebor)

…’s a bit of a JP monster, and yes, that little rocky prop thing is…odd. However, it’s a charming number with an exceptional degree of artistic polish for a mass-produced figure. For the same reason I’ll normally p-p-p-pick up a Papo (while avoiding equally inaccurate Schleich pap), I’ll recommend the Rebor. A bit pricey and anatomically iffy, but I’ll still hail to the King, baby. Available from Ebay.com here….

Tyrannosaurus rex (Running) (Papo)

…tend to fall short. The original Papo T. rex was very obviously a straight-up knock-off of the Jurassic Park creature – an excellent one as it happens – and that contributed immensely to its appeal. For their new T. rex, the sculptor has clearly used Jurassic Park as a starting point once again, resulting in some of the inaccuracies of the original being repeated. Most obviously, the arms are far, far too long. Here’s something I’d like all toy d…

Einiosaurus (Age of the Dinosaurs by PNSO)

…iniosaurus. For at least one of these though its time in the limelight has come. Einiosaurus has finally gotten the toy treatment from the newly emerged Chinese company, PNSO. It is also slated for release later this month by Safari Ltd. Einiosaurus has long been one of my favorite horned dinosaurs and for me at least I’m glad the wait is finally over and it can join the ranks of my ceratopsian collection. Like most of the ceratopsians, Einiosauru…

Styracosaurus (World of History by Schleich)

…and a long nasal horn that would make Triceratops green with envy. When it comes to toys, almost every company has made one at some point. It’s no surprise that it is usually overshadowed by Triceratops in books. Styracosaurus has also appeared in some movies, the most recent of which being Disney’s Dinosaur, which had a ripple effect on the dinosaur toy industry as a whole. The dinosaurs in the movie were for the most part natural and appeared to…

Nasutoceratops (CollectA)

…eratops is a solid toy. It is compact, fun to play with, beautifully sculpted, and has attractive colours, especially on the frill. Recommended. Available from Amazon.com here…

Pachyrhinosaurus (‘Patchi’, Walking with Dinosaurs the Movie 3D, by Vivid Toy Group Ltd)

…st of the joints do move in all directions. These WWD3D action figures are comparable to Jurassic Park and Dinoriders in both size and action-figure style. The new toys differ from both, however, in having more flexible joints, whereas the others had simpler rotating joints. The brown background I used in the photos for the Gorgon review didn’t do justice to the colouration. In fact, the colours are quite vivid in these toys, and photos taken on a…

Deinonychus (Wild Safari by Safari Ltd.)

…but both of those are pretty easy fixes and not especially reflective of the figure itself. Honestly, if you’ve an interest in dromaeosaurs, or even just the history of paleoart, I gotta recommend this piece one-hundred percent. Kudos to sculptor Doug Watson and the rest of the team at Safari Ltd! This figure is available from Ebay.com here….

Velociraptor “BLUE” (Jurassic World by Hasbro)

…Kids will figure it out, but it is frustrating. This plastic toy should hold up to some rough style play, but I would keep it inside, away from water and the sandbox. I will recommend “blue” as one of the better, if not best toy from the current Jurassic World line up. Currently available at Amazon.com….

Velociraptor (2015) (Carnegie Collection by Safari Ltd.)

…eanwhile, is attractive and plausible without being bland; a pleasing brown-on-white with red highlights. The paint application on Carnegie figures has (quite justly) come under fire in recent years, particularly as it seemed that, while lines like Wild Safari became increasingly accomplished, the paint on Carnegies just got sloppier. It’s actually quite decent here, although some areas, mostly the head, could have done with a little extra attenti…

Velociraptor “Cyclops” (Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs by Kenner)

…Velociraptors, its skull is too wide, its hind limbs are too thick, and it completely lacks feathers. On the positive side, it lacks a flaw common to all the other raptors: pronated wrists. Yes, Cyclops’ hands are actually positioned properly. Whether this was just happenstance or deliberate on the part of the sculptor is anyone’s guess, but it makes me happy. Cyclops’ shoulders and hips rotate and its head turns from side to side when you manipul…

Velociraptor (Safari Ltd)

…f this collection but it has long been an issue of debate. Just this past summer our own forum member Ikessauro sought out to end the mystery once and for all, and he did. Upon asking Safari Ltd. he was told that the Velociraptor WAS NOT a part of the DoC line and that a thin blue line dividing it from the DoC collection in the advertisement was meant to convey that fact. His question was even featured on the YouTube show “Safari Scoop” in August….

Velociraptor (Papo)

…d, the tibias seem a little too long, and there’s no feathers – all very un-dromeosaurid like features. The shape of the skull is largely too robust for that of a Velociraptor, it is more reminiscent of its distant relative Deinonychus. Velociraptor was believed to have been a diurnal animal, so the slit pupils don’t make much sense. The pose really doesn’t help this figure; it can stand on its own two feet but it’s still rearing up. I would have…

Jurassic Park “When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth” T-Rex vs. Velociraptors Diorama (by Sideshow Collectibles)

…model depicts the climactic final battle of the first film, in which the human characters find themselves caught between two fearsome Velociraptors, only to be saved at the last second by the intervention of a hungry Tyrannosaurus rex. This jaw-dropping scene elicited countless screams and cheers from audiences around the globe, and is arguably one of the most memorable moments in cinematic history. This diorama has been appropriately titled “Whe…

Albertosaurus (Jurassic Hunters by Geoworld)

…me, this is one of Geoworld’s most ambitious figures to date, simply because they put feathers on what is basically a Tyrannosaurus rex-like animal. Available on Amazon.com here….
