Got AppleTv+ today and we are about a week away from Prehistoric Planet. Anybody planning on revisiting other paleodocs or Planet Earth to prepare?
I recently just watched When Dinosaurs Roamed America. My favorite documentary that has ever been made(yes even over WWD)! Honestly, will most likely be still a core memory of mine and continue to rewatch it on occasions, but I can't lie that it will most likely be passed by Prehistoric Planet in terms of favoritism.

Really does warm my heart that people are revisiting some of the older documentaries in preparation for this new one!
Yeah I recently rewatched that as well it still holds up in my opinion since it introduced me to feathered dinosaurs and despite having a shorter runtime than WWD they are still able to tell a complete story in each segment which is similar to what Prehistoric Planet is doing.

I still haven't seen any cuts of the WWD 3D movie, so I'm thinking of watching the (ahem) "Prehistoric Planet" edition narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch while it's still up on YouTube.
I also need to check out my DINOTASIA blu-ray I got for cheap fairly recently.
Yeah I had the unfortunate experience of watching the original version in theaters with the stupid voiceovers it was a true insult to the legacy of WWD. Definitely gonna checkout the other version on YouTube I still got it on my playlist.

That reminds me: Watching the PP trailer reminds me of how I felt when I 1st watched the WWD trailer & (to a lesser extent) the PD trailers.

Just please God, give it to us on Blu-Ray. I can't hug and cherish a digital stream. (Nor can I take it on vacations with me and take selfies with it. Not that I go on vacations. Or take selfies. But I could;D )

I've been gearing up for Prehistoric Planet with some other paleodocs. I watched Dinotasia last week, it's on Tubi which is free BTW. Then, thanks to you folks, I watched the Walking with Dinosaurs "Prehistoric Planet" on YouTube. I had no idea such an edit even existed, let alone that Cumberbatch narrated it. Nice to see BCC try to selvage that dumpster fire. I have the Walking with Dinosaurs Blue-ray which includes the Cretaceous Cut (no voices whatsoever) and that's the only version I dare show to my kid. I saw the theatrical version just once and that was hard to endure.

One thing I kept thinking while watching these documentaries. Their CGI looks like hot garbage compared to Prehistoric Planet. Not their fault, they're older and they were fine in their day. CGI seldom ages well.

7 days I've started my revisit the other day Saturday with WWD 3D Prehistoric Planet which was a vast improvement over the theatrical cut and yesterday I started on the first two episodes of WWD and the Ballad of Big Al and I'll watch the rest tonight.

On another note here's an interview with Darren Naish and John Favaeru with two brief clips featuring Deinocherius and Mononykus which is patterned after a barn owl.

Fantastic interview. Those two brief clips have really sold me.

I actually think the CGI of WWD (2013) holds up fairly well all things considered. Makes it more the pity that they saddled it with such atrocious "comedic" edits and unnecessary VO work.

I was admittedly watching it on YouTube so it wasn't the greatest quality. The Blue-ray looks better. Still, Prehistoric Planet is going to be a game changer.

No denying that! I've had high hopes for this series since it was first announced that Favreau was involved. Say what you will about his Disney remakes (I personally enjoyed his take on The Jungle Book) but the visuals of those films were undeniably impressive, and I sincerely hoped he would bring some of that to the world of dinosaurs. Whereas I don't think PP reaches the highest heights seen in the likes of The Lion King (based only on what we've seen so far), I'm still floored by just how good it looks, especially when compared to the CG of those older docs and even the big budget visuals of Jurassic World.

Being both a dinosaur buff and movie buff I think it is so cool seeing Naish and Favaeru side-by-side. Crossover event of the decade! Add in Attenborough's narration and between the 3 of them it's like my personal holy trinity.

Can't believe this is coming out next week already. How time has flown. :o Glad to see reviews are already praising it. I can't wait.

Also thanks for both the heads up on the WWD with Benedict Cumberbatch (funny, I just saw the new Dr.Strange film he stars in last week), and Dinotasia. Never saw the WWD film, and saw the whole thing was up on youtube, so I'll be checking that out and then revising Dinotasia as well (which I haven't seen for quite a while now).

Better shots suggest it isn't Aristonectes after all but some other elasmosaurid.

The site the video redirected to didn't give me good vibes. I'll wait for the official release.
