Thought it would be worth mentioning that Jurassic World Evolution 2 is on sale on Steam (PC) for 40% off right now. Yeah I definitely just took advantage of that, especially after how impressed I was with the latest patch notes. I also picked up the CC pack because I really do want Bumpy, etc in my parks.

Obviously with Dominion coming out soon, JWE2 is getting updated once again. Today there's a reveal of Chaos Theory maps coming to Challenge mode. Might not be the most exciting news for some folks here, but I'm looking forward to it anyways. Also new traits like the Intelligence trait will be added which some make some dinosaurs more troublesome to keep (such as testing the fences, even when comfortable), and the Fussy trait (which will increase required territory needs).

Something was also teased. Pyroraptor from the looks of it. They also mentioned they'll be doing a livestream this Friday, showing off the new Chaos Theory Challenge mode maps.

QuoteWe can't wait to see how you overcome these new challenges, Park Managers, and we're very excited to bring a taste of Chaos Theory to Challenge Mode. We'll be taking a live look at some of these levels in a very special livestream this coming Friday, 27 May. You absolutely don't want to miss this one!

I really hope this is a free update since we basically bought an unfinished game at full price all those months ago. I'm not hopeful though.

Some content will be free, but there will also be a "Biosyn Expansion". No indication exactly what that would include, but probably the Biosyn specific species (/cosmetics for existing species) and a building set.

Thanks for the info, that's good to know. I'll no doubt buy it anyway

Not me. I held off until it was on sale, after the CC DLC released, because I wasn't really satisfied with the state of the game, until the major second patch came out then. I'm generally pretty satisfied with it now. I'm sure once the Dominion stuff rolls out it'll feel more complete more or less. At minimum aside from the new film's species, I would think we'd get at least another Chaos Theory map, and maybe some new attractions one could hope. I actually came back to it pretty recently this past week after playing Ark for a while. Finishing up beating the existing Challenge Mode maps on Jurassic Difficulty. Strangely enough, the Canada one has given me the most trouble, but I suppose it's from not figuring out how I want my park layout to go for it, so I've restarted it a few times as a result.

Anyways I'm hoping we get some more new decorations too with this next update, but at least the last one was pretty satisfactory overall.

I wish I didn't get it until later, although it was actually a Christmas gift. If I didn't have it until after the update I wouldn't have had to unlock all the dinosaurs in the story and challenge modes, which was intensely frustrating and almost had me rage quit the game. The update came out a couple of weeks after I had finished unlocking everything, of course.

Faelrin

Yeah it definitely was unfortunate timing that people who got the game shortly after release, had to deal with that prior. Should have just had it at the start so people didn't need to needlessly go through all that, or kept the method for unlocking them like the first game instead. But I guess the biggest takeaway is that they do listen to feedback, as many griped about it after release.

OP has been updated with the new Dominion BioSyn Expansion stuff. Here's the trailer:

And the forum announcement post (which also contains info for the 3rd big patch, alongside the DLC stuff):

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/jurassic-world-evolution-2-dominion-biosyn-expansion-and-update-3-coming-june-14-2022.603802/

Edit: Here's the livestream showing off a lot of the stuff below:

Here's a recap for the DLC stuff (see the article and trailer for more info):
Spoiler
4 new species, 2 variants, 6 skins:

Dilophosaurus (skin):

Dimetrodon:

Dreadnoughtus (variant):

Giganotosaurus (variant):

Parasaurolophus (3 skins):

Pyroraptor:

Quetzalcoatlus:

Therizinosaurus:

Tyrannosaurus (feathered)
Tyrannosaurus (scarred):

New Campaign and Chaos Theory maps (which will also be available in Sandbox):

Biosyn Valley:

In the livestream that aired earlier they also mentioned something about a new Biosyn staff (edit: underground) transportation system, and invisible fences, which will be a delight to use I'm sure.

Things still missing at this point (which is a lot to be frank):

Allosaurus (BaBR/Dominion skin/variant)
Atrociraptor (Ghost, Panthera, Red, Tiger skins, etc)
Carnotaurus (Dominion "demon" skin)
Iguanodon (Prologue & Dominion skin/variant?)
Lystrosaurus
Microceratus
Moros
Oviraptor (Prologue)

That said I'm glad we got a new variant for the Dreadnoughtus, and new skins for the Dilophosaurus, Parasaurolophus (not just 1, but 3!), and even the feathered Tyrannosaurus from the Prologue was not forgotten, and I'm very much looking forward to using all the new species. But where is all those missing species? Why were they left out? Will they be coming in the update or in another DLC? The most glaring omission is like the Atrociraptor due to it being plastered everywhere in the trailers, merch, etc. Worth noting that most of these do appear to be in the Malta sequence though, so maybe we'll get another pack regarding that, but frankly I'm not a fan of that, considering the price of this pack ($19.99), although hopefully the new maps, buildings, Chaos Theory and campaign help lessen the sting of the price.
[close]
And for Patch 3 we'll be getting some really good quality of life changes, one of these I was hoping for a few months now.

-Tours count as transportation now (since previously they could already connect), and all style of tours will have binoculars similar to the JP ones to increase viability.
-After dinosaurs are tranqed multiple individuals and species can be selected and placed.
-There's a new herding mechanic being implemented, similar to JPOG's muster feature.
-Building limits in Sandbox for Operation buildings have been removed, where the first building will have the functionality, while the rest will serve as decoration (although I do wonder if multiple entrances will still work).
-Status checks and injuries can be toggled on or off in Sandbox mode, so for example, ranger posts would no longer be needed.

Possibly more to come with the patch notes coming on June 14th.

New Quetzalcoatlus Species Field Guide:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/species-field-guide-quetzalcoatlus.604224/

So a few things that disappoint me off the bat. No walking animations have been added yet and Frontier has already been quick to share on social media that they have nothing to announce regarding walking animations. Additionally it requires the fish feeder like all current in game pterosaurs, despite that it primarily hunted terrestrial animals (although it has been stated it can hunt goats, people, and small dinosaurs). Both the ball was dropped on this and the Tapejara to a minor extent (which is mostly based on Tupandactylus imperator, and also should be a frugivore). Lastly one of the sitting or sleeping animations is just not feasible without it breaking its neck in numerous places, unfortunately. Oh and taller aviaries would be much appreciated, as well as interaction/paired animations like the dinosaurs have.

Other then all those gripes, the model looks great, and its sized pretty realistically, like the Mosasaurus in game, and not the oversized film proportions.

Edit: Also there's a livestream showing off the new DLC content on this Friday, at 3:30 BST. I might hold off on that until after I watch the film.

I watched hers and BestinSlot's videos yesterday and after watching Dominion I'm even more interested in the DLC map and features like the invisible fences. And the new species too (including those MIA like the Atrociraptor, Moros, Lystrosaurus, etc).

OP has been updated with the new species.

The update coming is really exciting especially the lagoon customization/decorations:

That's something people have been asking for since the game released (especially over on the subreddit that I frequent).

Just kind of hoping they didn't patch out the wonderful glitch to release dinosaurs from the aviary hatchery, and vice versa (also works for lagoon animals too, but it's pointless), but it wouldn't surprise me if they do especially with it making the rounds as of late. Guess I'll make the best amount of use with it as I can. Would be nice if they actually implemented it fully instead, even if it was for sandbox only (for example).

I hope the update fixes the problem I've been having. I play the game on my X-box One and ever since getting the Dominion DLC the game has a tendency to crash, hard. I'm not talking about just kicking me out of the game, it crashes and turns off the X-box. This cannot be good for my console so I haven't been playing the game as much as I would like. It's entirely random too. It might crash after a few minutes, or after and hour or so, but it crashes virtually every time I play the game.
