Finally found time to snap some pictures of my collection. It's a small one, because I only get models of my favourite species, but it's still growing and there are a few more species I'm aiming to get.

I collect mainly in 1:35 scale too, so yes, that human figure is in scale (:

Let me know what you guys ( avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator ) think!

1. Overview

2. PNSO Stegosaurus (Biber & Rook)

3. PNSO Suchomimus (Thabo)

4. PNSO Tyrannosaurus rex (Winter Wilson)

5. Papo Allosaurus (Green Version)
- Also the first model I ever purchased.

6. Collection/display shelf

Paleo Flo

It's a fine collection with one of the best models out there.
You have united wonderful figures.
The decision to buy a speficic figure is a tough choice nowadays.

I personally had the Papo Allosaurus back then. But I selled it later. Despite this I think that it is a worthy Allosaurus.

Enjoy your collection.

Collecting for me means not to get every single figure out there. It's about getting the figures which make something with you. Which enjoy your heart and soul.
Welcome to Florassic Park...my collection:

Thank you! The next purchase I have in mind is the PNSO Allosaurus, as a replacement for my Papo one, since the Papo isn't as scientifically accurate. But the Papo definitely holds sentimental meaning for me, and it does look pretty good next to all the PNSO ones.

I hope HLG and Eofauna do one or more of the species I have on my list; it would be great to own a figure by these wonderful companies! Figures that I enjoy with my heart and soul (:

This is just my opinion, but if you do have a very strong sentimental attachment to the Papo Allosaurus, rather than getting rid of it when you get the PNSO one, consider putting it into storage, from where you can access it when ever the mood comes upon you. That's what I did with mine (I have both Papo variants, on both of which I carefully corrected the pronation of the wrists, which you can see on my repaint thread).

Quiversaurus

DUDE I actually considered correcting the wrists of my Papo Allo as well! I tried heating them up and turning them, which worked for a few minutes, after which they returned to their original positions...

May I know how you did it? Will check out your repaint thread as well.

But yes, I agree, I shall keep the Papo regardless (:

Halichoeres

Tiny, perhaps, but mighty!

I cannot choose favorite species. Choosing favorite things seems to be a more general problem with me, which might be why I've never been married.

Taking an exacto knife and great care, cut the wrists off at the point you see on my thread. Drill a hole in each stump and each severed hand with some sort of hobby drill. Cut a brass rod (thin) to the right length, then insert into the stump, gluing in place. Make sure its not too short. Then put the hand in place, but without glue at this point until you know if the rod is the correct length. If it's too long, you can still cut it back, leaving it glued into the arm stump. With the rod the right length, put some crazy glue ( slow acting type) and push the hand portion onto the rod, with some of the glue oozing a bit into the join to fill in any gap. If you pick the right spot to sever the hand, and cut precisely, there will be very little to no gap. Position the hands to supinate them as close as in practical with the textural and dimensional possibilities of the original. Touch up with paint if necessary. I didn't need any milliput or paint, though.

Thanks for the detailed instructions! I finally found the right thread - unpronating the hands really makes such a big difference...

Here's wishing you success with this mini project, avatar_Quiversaurus @Quiversaurus .

So you finally showed us your collection, nice!  :)

I find your collection to be very interesting. Few figures, yeah, but who cares? To me the more impressive collection is not the larger one, but the one whose figures individually have higher quality (even if this is also subjective). And yours is top notch, of course.

I also like your approach! Collecting figures of only your favorite prehistoric animals certainly helps control space and expenses. I once had space issues (clearly not anymore haha), but who knows, maybe if I run into space issues in the future I will consider sticking to just my favourite genera and that's it. You've given me an idea there.

Do you have more shelfs/space to display your figures?

Looking forward to more updates!

Halichoeres

If you attempt surgery on your Allosaurus, I hope you'll show us!

I imagine keeping your collection small and selective enhances your appreciation for each piece individually. Especially if you are able to choose favorite animals :)

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Glad to have finally shown everyone!

I wish I had more of a budget to spend on these models, but alas... And it works out that there aren't many genera I like too, so the collection stays small (:

I have currently only set aside the shelves you see in the pictures above for my models, but as the collection grows, I might find more shelving solutions. It helps that one of the next models I'm hoping to get is a Kentrosaurus, which is a small species, so it should fit on my current shelf.

Will definitely update as they come along!

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I am still thinking about it! The decision is between 1. keeping the original pristine and replacing it with a more accurate model (like PNSO's), and 2. going ahead with the surgery and not getting another Allosaurus... A difficult decision heh.

Will update once I've reached a decision!

Concavenator

BTW, I have one suggestion regarding the setup. Have you thought about using display risers? They can come handy to enhance the display, so that bigger figures aren't obscured by smaller ones in front of them. Not only that, but they can also give you extra space, as some figures could be displayed beneath them. Here's an example:

About the Allosaurus, personally I would recommend doing the "surgery" only if you think you can handle it. If I had doubts about it turning out good or not, I would just commission it to an artist instead. Would be a pity to damage a figure you appreciate. There are people who are skilled and used to modify their figures at their will, but this is not always the case. For instance, I once tried to repaint a Papo Triceratops and completely ruined it.  ;D ;D

Halichoeres

I also like risers, especially for aquatic or flying animals.

Good point about the risers, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator , avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres . May I know where you get yours? Aliexpress comes to mind for me.

avatar_Pliosaurking @Pliosaurking Thank you! (:

Concavenator

avatar_Quiversaurus @Quiversaurus So far, I've only bought 3 packs. One pack I bought from Amazon and was pretty expensive (~ 26 €). The other 2 I got from AliExpress and they were cheaper (one for ~ 23 € and another one for ~ 7 €) . Based on my experience, on Amazon these display risers are usually sold in packs, whereas on AliExpress they're usually sold individually (though sometimes still offered in packs if you search enough; the two I got from Ali were both in packs).

I think it's more worth it to order them in packs though, but of course this really depends on the person. If you get them from AliExpress, I would recommend you pick them up during one of those eventual sales though. That's what I did myself, I ordered those 2 during last year's 11th November sale (which I believe is the biggest sale on AliExpress).

Quiversaurus

Thanks for the breakdown and info, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator . Will keep a lookout on Aliexpress, and since 11.11 is coming, I can wait!

By the way, avatar_Quiversaurus @Quiversaurus , if you are a bit concerned about ruining your Papo Allosaurus in de-pronating the manus, then you can do what I did, since I was apprehensive too. Get a really cheap theropod of two at a thrift shop, figures with pronated hands, and practice on them . Place them on a firm surface, so there's little risk of slippage, and have a go. No big loss, and you're ready to proceed.

S @SidB Thanks for that suggestion! It's a good way to test out my comfort level first before actually trying it on my Allo.

BTW, I've actually done some light touching-up before too - I added some light brown wash to the creases and folds of the skin to accentuate them, as well as to the claws on the hands and feet. I found the glossy black a little too jarringly glossy and black. If you're (or anyone's) interested I can post some pictures!
