Quote from: thomasw100 on February 08, 2025, 05:12:06 PMFully agree that this Brachiosaurus is probably one of if not the best Haolonggood sauropod so far. The seam lines that you mention are probably some sort of molding lines or molding marks. I think they are to some extent unavoidable for any figure manufactured by injection molding of PVC.

Yes, that's doubtless true. I mentioned it because I feel they are especially prominent on the Brachiosaurus, as opposed to e.g. the PNSO Camarasaurus, which has a similar set of seam lines but not quite as obvious. I'll see if I can get some pictures later. Fortunately, as I mentioned, the seam lines are on the underside so they aren't really noticeable from most angles.
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Sim

I've acquired some Jurassic World mini figures.

First, the green Postosuchus which Blade-of-the-moon sold to me.  I'm delighted with it, I think it's around 1:35 scale considering the proportions.  It will work well with my Kaiyodo Coelophysis.

Next, some more recent Mattel mini figures that Brett kindly got for me from US ebay.  I was surprised by the very flexible plastic they are made of, in contrast to the Postosuchus's harder plastic.  I think both have their pros, the softer plastic allows for different poses without articulation, while the harder plastic feels more satisfying.  Some of these newer minis are also much smaller than the Postosuchus.  The Elasmosaurus for example is about the size of the Postosuchus, while the Nothosaurus or Stygimoloch are much smaller, especially the Stygimoloch.  However the level of detail of these small figures is impressive.  In the end I'm only keeping the Kaprosuchus, which I'm satisfied with after only painting its eyes.  The rest will go in my sales thread.

Finally, the Captivz Jurassic Park 30th anniversary Compsognathus.  Its paintjob is more detailed than the Mattel mini figures which is nice.  I'm happy to have a small Compsognathus figure now.  I wish more small prehistoric animals were made for the Captivz line.  Although for any I get I think I have to paint over that obnoxious silver stamp they come with, which I've done for the Compsognathus.

Yay! Glad you like the Kapro!

As promised, here are some comparisons of the PNSO Camara and HLG Brach to show the difference in the seam lines:

They run along pretty much the same areas on both figures, but they're more prominent on the Brachiosaurus. Maybe PNSO did a better job trimming away the excess after the moulding process.

Interestingly, they are not near as visible on my copy of the Haolonggood Brachiosaurus. Much better covered by paint. I have already noticed that there are sometimes quite some differences between individual copies of Haolonggood sauropods. Most obvious was between gray-blue and green Argentinosaurus, like how the seamlines between tail, neck and body were covered and also between the mandible and the remainder of the head.

Some new items that arrived before the weekend:

I put in a small order of on-sale/discount figures to "compliment" my Happy Hen review samples. Their arrival proved timely, too, since avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi JUST reviewed the Lokiceratops! It's a winner of a figure for sure.
I finally pulled the trigger on Papo's Gorgosaurus, and having it in hand I think it's very good. I've been wanting an updated Gorgon for a while and this will do nicely for the price.

I decided to try out of the Diorama Mansion sets, and it arrived from Amazon with good timing. It took me a moment to figure out assembly (and taking it apart kind of scares me), but I'm liking it pretty well so far. I spent a good chunk of Friday doing photography experiments, some of which will probably make it into future reviews.

Nice haul avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon! I need to order from HHT soon too, in order to show some support and appreciation. I need to get that Mojo ermine too!

Cretaceous Crab

I had funded the BOTM Cyberzoic kickstarter with the Dilophosaurus, but while I'm still waiting for its fulfillment, I had some birthday money to burn and splurged on the less feathery one. It does not disappoint. Probably the best BOTM figure I have to date.

AcroSauroTaurus

Just a few additions this time.
JW Chaos Theory Thapunngaka

Sega Dinosaur King Alpha Acrocanthosaurus

Card

JW Chaos Theory Ceratosuchops

I am the Dinosaur King!

spinynettle

I got the Bullyland Mastodonsaurus from ebay. My own hypnotoad!

I also got the CollectA Rhomaleosaurus from ebay.

The Rhomaleosaurus sold for a very reasonable price, the Mastodonsaurus less so. Plenty of scuffs, but they still make me happy. I'm not quite clear on what all the X's running along the neck and body of the Rhomaleosaurus are supposed to represent.

SidB

No surprise about the price on the Mastodonsaurus, avatar_spinynettle @spinynettle , but congrats on its acquisitionn. I got my Rhomaleo at a thrift shop for next to nothing several years back, but agree that it's a cool piece, x's and all.

Paleo Flo

Now I have to whatch Bender again O:-)

Great acquisitions, congrats on finding these! The Rhomaleosaurus is one of the most elusive figures that I'd like to get my hands on.

I was bad and let temptation get the better of me at Walmart again. I picked up a Herrerasaurus and tried my luck with a (supersized) Captivz egg - I got Bumpy.

Sim

I find it funny how so many toys of Herrerasaurus have been made for Jurassic World, I count four between Mattel and Toymonster, not including repaints!  Yet the companies that produce scientifically accurate figures seem to not want to make it!  Clearly it sells well, so come on someone, make an accurate figure of it!

I recall that Schleich made one as well few years ago. Indeed I think Haolongood could give this species a try. Herrerasaurus has been estimated at around 4 meters, so this would appear possible.

Sim

I would love it if Haolonggood made Herrerasaurus!  Herrerasaurus could grow over 5 meters long as shown below, but I'm not sure if that would be big enough for Haolonggood to make it...

Herrerasaurus is my second-favourite dinosaur, but I would find it terrifying to meet one that was alive!

I've never bothered with the Supersize Captivz egg, probably because of the limited number of species. That Bumpy looks good though, maybe I'll pick one up. I usually buy the Captivz when there's nothing from Mattel that catches my eye.

Faelrin

Like you avatar_Sim @Sim, I've been hoping someone would do a figure of Herrerasaurus too (other then those other companies, though I do like the Mattel figure, despite some anatomical flaws).

avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon Congrats on the Bumpy. Looks great for such a small figure. And the Herrerasaurus too.
