Quote from: Faelrin on February 14, 2025, 12:45:19 AMLike you avatar_Sim @Sim, I've been hoping someone would do a figure of Herrerasaurus too (other then those other companies, though I do like the Mattel figure, despite some anatomical flaws).

avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon Congrats on the Bumpy. Looks great for such a small figure. And the Herrerasaurus too.

I think all things considered, the Mattel Herrerasaurus are the best figure versions of this species, particularly the newer one in avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon's post.  I'm happy they exist and children (and adults!) can enjoy a figure of this awesome species.  There is still a need for an accurate figure of this species though!

Actually, my ideal Herrerasaurus figure would be a mix between the head of the CollectA's model and the body of the Schleich's one. The Mattel's figure is a bit too stocky in my opinion but okay, it's Mattel.

Sim

I would actually prefer the head of Schleich's Herrerasaurus on the body of CollectA's!  The head of CollectA's is off, while the body of Schleich's has weird skin, arms that are too gorilla-like and a tail that's too short.

crazy8wizard

If it weren't for the extreme size difference (even on the smaller mcdonalds release of the herrerasaurus) I would recommend kitbashing the two and attaching the schleich head onto the collecta body. Unfortunately, the collecta figure is tiny.

Sim

Hopefully Safari or Papo make Herrerasaurus, and Plateosaurus too.  I would be very happy if Haolonggood or PNSO made them too, but I feel like there's less of a chance they would make them.

Fembrogon

I've been bad and bought more Captivz; I tried a three-pack and ended up with Suchomimus, Tyrannosaurus, and Parasaurolophus. Sucho and Para are having warping issues out of the eggs, but look pretty good otherwise.

However, a bigger package also arrived today: three Haolonggood dinos from an AliExpress sale last month. It feels good to finally have these two herbivores acquired, and Majunga looks pretty great too!

Nice acquisitions, avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon , start to finish.

avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon Great luck on that Para pull. That's the chase figure of this series. My Walmart still has the color change eggs, otherwise I'd go for the three pack for sure (not that I have a problem with them, but between the two, I want the Chaos Theory critters a tad bit more. Also excellent Haolonggood haul. One of these days I'll get around to getting more of their figures (I hope anyways). Those are all on my wishlist too.

I also got a Captivz tonight, and like you earlier, got lucky with a Bumpy (just regular small sized though). Very happy to have this one in hand. It's my third in this series (after the Giganotosaurus re-release and Atrociraptor Tiger), and was one of the ones I really wanted out of it. Even better I was wearing my old Bumpy shirt today too (the CC cuddle bumps one). I asked my Spaz if she liked Bumpy, and I think I got a yes:

Also got a few more goodies.

Believe it or not, that's my first Mosasaurus mini. I've been collecting them since 2018 and never picked up the BD set back in the day with it, or any of the other previous re-releases. The Therizinosaurus is a double technically, but who knows when I'll get around to seeing the first I got back in 2022 since that's in the storage unit I don't have access too. And I wanted the green T. rex because of its resemblance to the old 2019 Legacy figure inspired by the buck. Much better match with the buck too then the original green T. rex figures in 2018. And I finally picked up that Dilophosaurus figure. I've always liked the sculpt, and I'm glad to have one with the classic JP colors, that isn't the weird orange plastic frilled Legacy one in 2022.

Anyways as far as the Captivz, I really got to get the rest of last year's up on the DTC already so we can add these to our collection there lol. It's pretty late now, so I'll try to give it a go tomorrow.

It would be great but I have the strong feeling that dinos of the Triassic are rather overlooked by the toy makers, in purpose ?...

avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon Quite eclectic acquisitions-of-the-day but nice ones, congrats !

Some wonderful new acqs!:

Sim

I've acquired the CollectA Protoceratops and Schleich 100/42 oviraptorid aka Oviraptor.  The Protoceratops is huge and goes well with my Safari Velociraptor and Citipati, as I'd hoped it would and with the Schleich oviraptorid.  The 100/42 oviraptorid is iconic, I'm very happy to have a good figure of it!

They are very good choices, congrats !
The CollectA's Proto was initially a serious option for my Gobi dinos collection, but due to its "big size", I finally chose the Wild Past's figure.

Protopatch

Finally, the Wild Past's Protoceratops andrewsi (1:35) made it !
Super happy with what becomes the "key piece" of my Gobi collection. It is rather small but the overall body shape as well as its colours are really nice.
The small detail which makes the difference : the nest, included in the box.
It definitely initiates the beginning of a wonderful adventure  ;D

PS : the lack of choices in dinosaur figures in my country makes me realize how complicated it is when you're willing to build a decent collection, not to say that I almost have to purchase all of them in foreign countries with high custom duties
PPS : I'll try to post a picture with the 4 other Gobi guys (in their temporary environment) upon reception ;)

SidB

It certainly is small, avatar_Protopatch @CharlieNovember , but at 1/35 scale it is that relative rarity  of a small dinosaur that fits into a 1/35 scenario, like a hand into a glove. Good choice.

I decided to take the plunge and order one of the new. greatly improved, more realistic figures that Recur has recently released. Dejankins sent me their Osborne the T-rex, and here is a sequence of snapshots I've taken of him. What do you think?

The box-

Osborne himself -

With two lipped exemplars. Osborne is semi-lipped, similar to the rex of De Cay Studios, albeit at a greatly lesser cost. The figure, btw, set me back a mere 21.50 USD.

A comparison with the classic Carnegie Safari 10th anniversary edition of 1998, 4th version of 2012, with all of the flaws corrected from the three previous variants:

Fembrogon

Congrats on the Protoceratops, avatar_Protopatch @CharlieNovember! I'm glad you were able to acquire this delightful figurine in spite of regional challenges.

Wow, S @SidB; the new Recur T. rex was already looking good from promotional pics, but now I'm definitely sold on it. Here I thought I had more than enough rexes already, only for more and more companies to keep surprising me.

I ended up picking more Yowies for myself yesterday on a whim. I think I'm going to have to stop, though; the returns are starting to diminish...

The Ankylosaurus is decent, though.

Primeval12

what ones do you need? I have a TON

Concavenator

A bunch of acquisitions I recently got.

From oldest to newest release:

PNSO ML Stegosaurus, Safari Estemmenosuchus, PNSO Zuul, HLG Diabloceratops, TNG Sinosauropteryx, PNSO Lokiceratops, HLG Majungasaurus, HLG Styracosaurus and HLG Concavenator.

SidB

That's quite the surfeit of quality, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator . You even got your namesake!
