Oh, I like this guy a lot! Since I'm almost exclusively collecting ceratopsians and hadrosaurs these days, I'm fine if PNSO keeps churning them out :))

Like avatar_Joliezac @Joliezac says, I haven't found the frill patterns on some of the previous ones convincing, so this is a nice change of pace.

Likewise over here, but with a Dilophosaurus/Sinosaurus or an eudromaeosaur instead of T. rex.

Quote from: Flaffy on April 23, 2025, 02:09:45 PMPersonally I'm hoping for a basal ceratopsian or two before this run ends.

A very long shot, but a multipack of say Psittacosaurus, Chaoyangosaurus, Yinlong etc would be a dream.

Realistically, the only basal ceratopsian I could see them releasing is Udanoceratops, simply on a basis of size, and even then, it might be too small for them.

There is speculation about them discarding Dilophosaurus for being potentially too small, and I don't see them releasing figures of animals the size of Microraptor, Atopodentatus, etc, anymore. So it's not looking good for Psittacosaurus, etc. Of course, a guy can dream, and those would be appreciated indeed.

It is objectively really nice. And I actually like the more monotone art direction. But I do think it is the least interesting of the ceratopsians so far this year. So I may skip it for know and pick up an older figure I havent got yet.

Quote from: suspsy on April 23, 2025, 02:13:31 PMIt's interesting too how PNSO is focusing on recently discovered ceratopsians while poor Anchiceratops (described in 1929) and Arrhinoceratops(described in 1925) still have yet to get their first toy.
Agreed. I'd love to see PNSO do those two, and a Chasmosaurus.

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

...So many Ceratopsians, and they choose one of the more dubious and less distinct ones...

Figure doesn't look bad (obviously), per say, but dang. Talk about subtle coloration. The pose reminds me of the old Pachyrhinosaurus so that's kinda cool but. Idk. Unless Russo becomes a budget alternative to Jenny this is definitely a skip for me. At least Stella had audacious colors and the whole "Styracosaurus-Stellasaurus-Einiosaurus" sequence to back her up x_x

Does give me hope that we might see a PNSO Einiosaurus soon, since HLG seems intent on snubbing us there. And uh, I guess my missing-Ceratopsian-megapost from earlier gave me some new appreciation for genera like Medusaceratops and Anchiceratops so I hope we get them too, and not just the more generic ones. And while HLG has a Pentaceratops I certainly would appreciate one without the scaling issues too... Even if banking on PNSO to avoid scaling issues is a bit of a crapshoot lmao

Quote from: Bergues on April 23, 2025, 02:22:13 PMAs for ceratopsians, I would not mind re-do of Torosaurus or Triceratops.
PNSO improved their fine details in 2021 significantly and just get better a bit every year but i don't think a good reason to make again except they are famous dinosaurs. I think both of them are still almost as good as a brand new PNSO.

#446
I think they should have named him Kermit.

But for real, when are all these companies going to stop messing around with these second rate ceratopsians and give us a proper Agathaumas??

PNSO is getting more "niche'" with each release. They make dinosaurs other companies probably won't prefer.

Maybe that's the new strategy.Maybe they don't want to direct competiton with Haolonggood etc. because of it's price advantages over same animal.

FerretGoose

awhhhhhh its so cuteeeee!!!! it reminds me of their old spinops a bit.  ;D

Ceratopsians are my favorite group of Dinos, so this is an instant purchase if/when it becomes available in the US!

Blade-of-the-Moon

eh sorta has a DR Monoclonius feel. If I could slap some armor on him..

Finally a Centrosaurus brinkmani!  I thought this species might get ignored forever for some incomprehensible reason.  Its colouration is disappointing, but I like the figure enough that I intend to get it.  I like the species represented and this figure is great all things considered.

Centrosaurus/Coronosaurus brinkmani isn't dubious as far as I'm aware, there's just disagreement on whether it warrants having its own genus.  Same as Spinops.  Depending on what opinion you have, PNSO has now made three Centrosaurus species, or three centrosaurines that are each other's closest relatives (in which case why not classify them all in Centrosaurus, considering how similar they are).

I too would like an Anchiceratops and Arrhinoceratops figure to be made.

I didn't realize they were that close! But when I first saw the pictures I thought did they remake centrosaurus?

On one hand, wish it was something different, on the other hand I like the color.

What formation is this one from?

May I ask why you only collect those two groups?

Just curious, as I like to have dinosaurs from as many groups and clades as possible.

I believe the Oldman formation.

Gwangi

This might be my favorite of PNSO's 2025 figures. I like green dinosaurs and this one is a nice change from the brown-on-brown that PNSO favors. Centrosaurus is also a favorite of mine and this one is quite similar, so much so that it might be a Centrosaurus. I also really like the stocky Pachyrhinosaurus-like build. No complaints here!

Quote from: Joel1905 on April 23, 2025, 05:30:01 PMMay I ask why you only collect those two groups?

Sure, it's because I have limited space and limited funds allocated for figure collecting, so I tend to hone in on the two groups I like the most in Dinosauria (I also collect prehistoric mammals and certain extant mammals, and they all have to share the same budget category). Not to say I never collect outside of those groups, of course, but they definitely get preference when I'm deciding what to buy.

Quote from: Bergues on April 23, 2025, 02:22:13 PMI like the mouth details. Paint application is different to previous 3 releases and first time there are no specific paint patterns on frill. Some details in that area remind me a bit of their pachyrhinosaurus release. Pose is dynamic enough and I believe it will be good fit with other 3 newest ceratopsians.

Coronasaurus is very nice, although we are yet to have super exciting model released this year. As for ceratopsians, I would not mind re-do of Torosaurus or Triceratops.

I'm struggling to think of reasons why Torosaurus & Triceratops need redoing? Both have PNSO's current manufacturing quality and finer detailing, both are anatomically sound and there's been no subsequent discoveries or papers that have rendered either inaccurate (yes, I'm aware that AMNH 5116 has a problematic frill, but still)

The figures that are actually in need of redoing are the ones that have:

• Less finer textures and details (Pachyrhinosaurus, Sauropelta)

• Their earlier, less anatomically correct and/or out of scale figures (Corythosaurus)

• Animals that have had big changes to their reconstructions thanks to new studies (Dunkleosteus)

• The lipless theropods (Tyrannosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Megalosaurus)

• Figures that have a combination of more than one of those faults (Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Carnotaurus)
