The grey one's colouration does indeed look like that of other Haolonggood figures, but I'm surprised the other one is getting criticised for the same reason as its colouration doesn't look like any other figure's!

It measures 45 cm in lenght; their Apatosaurus was 55 cm long. So B. excelsus seems not to be the species, right?
The length estimates for prehistoric animals tend to be as if the bones were arranged in a straight line, so I think the Haolonggood Brontosaurus could B. excelsus.  Actually I think it is as it's the only Brontosaurus species with the skull preserved.

Ah ok, thank you! Now I also  realized it. It was simply too early in the morning here and my brain was still sleepy :))

Quote from: DavidJamesArmsby on August 11, 2025, 04:18:38 PMI'm very surprised we got Brontosaurus so soon with at least 2-3 other sauropods confirmed(?) already. Colours are unfortunately quite derivavitve of Haolonggood's other models, but otherwise they're lovely. The pose has a lot more life to it than usual which is great.
They almost just look like updated and re-posed version of Haolonggood's Apatosaurus, but I suppose the two species looking so alike is incredibly accurate.

We're really building out that Morrison Formation! :D

I personally consider this Brontosaurus a spiritual successor to their Apatosaurus. The main complain regarding their Apato was the odd head reconstruction which didn't really match up to fossil evidence. While too early to say for certain, I hope the Bronto will have a more rigorous reconstruction.

Colour scheme wise, I wish dark grey was used for the "dull" colour scheme instead of this light bluish grey that's been used a lot lately. Fred's Apatosaurus reconstruction is very pleasing to me, and the original grey Apatosaurus colour scheme invokes this feeling well. Moreover the orange tail is very overused at this point.

Very cool figure, despite the repetitive colors.
But I alwready own the impressive Zeus Apatosaurus from Guilherme Bilinski (I don't mind the large scales, the overall figure sculpt is very appealing to me).

Waiting for Diplodocus to come back !

Pricewise this is very affordable model. Costs about 40% less than larger Apatosaurus figure + there is a limited base as a gift.

I like water effect on the base and could possibly use fern plant and ground to practice my painting skills. That would be an exciting project, perhaps add some texture to it and some dry branches or so. Maybe even full sized tree. I have never done something similar and given how affordable and widespread are different tools and techniques I would be happy to give it a shot.

Pose is little bit different compared to few previous Haolonggood sauropods, head is looking to right side. Pattern appears lighter to their brown Apatosaurus. Maybe little bit too light to my taste, yet I might decide to go for this one.

I like this because I have the Safari WS Apatosaurus louisae but don't have an actual Brontosaurus!

Gonna order soon to get the base as I can use it for diorama-style images for multiple figures!

Not so likely as we have seen the prototype of Diplodocus already.

If this model does not have Brontosaurus' distinct squared off mouth, I might not buy it, though.

Monkeysaurus

Wow this is the first true Brontosaurus model I've seen! What's the general consensus here in regards to Brontosaurus being a legitimately distinct genus from apatosaurus? Obviously I know labels like genus are murky and that it was reclassified as distinct fairly recently.

Some folk on the Dinosaurs: On the Origin of Plastic Species facebook group mentioned the forelimb proportions, but comparing it to Dr Hartman's B. excelsus skeletal I think it looks fine.

After taking a closer look at the new pictures, the brown version isn't that bad, dark brown stripes, there's some light grey on the neck and the orange brown application is somewhat reduced.

The blue one though... same coprolite again...

Ah man, I just can't decide if I want it or not. ::D

The price is hot for this big figure (plus base)...it's really like a steal.

But I am very satisfied with my brown Apatosaurus. Plus the space on my mainshelf is limited and a section is already reserved for the Diplodocus (when and if it will released).  :*D

On the other hand the brown Bronto looks very nice and the two will match good together.  *-*

I guess it's a luxuary problem  :))

Finally a nice big Brontosaurus! I really like the brown one, but yeah, these color schemes are getting really repetitive. I'm very glad I got the gray Apato and not the brown!  :))

Just saw some closeups of the brown, certainly glad I went with it. The blue on the head/feet and dangerous red/black on the tail is certainly more appealing looking.

Thank you for sharing avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon !

That doesn't make it easyier for me to decide   :))

Lol, that really is extraordinary! I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'd imagine the costly part would be the application of paint, not the color of the paint itself. How easy would it be to just keep the same pattern but replace the color?
