Hmm, well I have to say I actually like the Hammond Collection raptors more than I thought I would, and will definitely look out for the alpha male (even with the admittedly bland paint) and Grant/raptor two pack.

I recently found the Hammond raptor for $6.99 at a Ross and decided to give it a shot. Overall I'm really impressed at how stable the figure is when left in a one-legged kicking pose, and it looks pretty awesome doing so. That would be much harder to achieve without the oversized feet.

PrimevalRaptor

Can't wait to get my hands on this one! The teeth are a bit VERY yellow but this is a step upwards from the squashed Schleich one for sure (that one diiiid grow on me but...it's far from a perfect model), would love to see CollectA or Safari tackle this species but this'll do nicely I'd say.
I do wish the head/neck would be able to rotate like the attack packs from this year instead of just swivel but it's still neat.

My Herrera shipped last week, I think the total came to about 20.00 for anyone interested.

Other then the too big head, and too short tail, it's not too bad. The head shape is at least slightly recognizable as an Edaphosaurus from the side profile, especially when shown alongside the Dimetrodon. I look forward to getting it. Hoping I can hold off it until February or so though. Wave 1 of Dino Trackers is really looking like just the Nothosaurus, Edaphosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Diabloceratops, and Kronosaurus for me, not including the HC and new mini stuff as well. Probably going to be the lightest year for me yet, which is good because I have a lot of PNSO, etc to catch up with, and the new Cyberzoic and/or BotM to look forward to ordering.

Head size may not be Mattel's fault. It looks a lot like the Edaphosaurus in Jurassic World Alive.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Herrera came in today from BBTS

Maybe one of their best in terms of sculpt, detail and paint.

I actually think the yellow teeth are a nice touch. Seal and sea lion teeth are frequently dingy-looking.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor Thanks for the reminder about that one. That's probably true. That said I think Mattel's sculpt does a better job at resembling the animal in question then that game's version.

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon Congrats. Definitely so glad we got a resculpt of the original (though hope we get a repaint of this sculpt in the Telltale game colors down the road). Looks much more like Herrerasaurus now. Honestly I'm still surprised they did such a massive resculpt for one of their previous molds. I wonder if anything older will get that treatment someday (or recent, like the Iguanodon, Moros, and Pyroraptor that definitely need it)? The closest thing was maybe the Dimetrodon and Quetzalcoatlus, although that was more of a retool of their previous iteration done to be more film accurate. There was also the slight head retool for the Camp Cretaceous Monolophosaurus, but rest of the sculpt was the same. Maybe the Sinoceratops as well, since the original was a Pachyrhinosaurus in full (though the Sinoceratops is still a butchered Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai design at its core), but sold with the wrong name.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres good point actually, didn't see many seals (or their teeth) recently so I didn't even think of that, that sure adds to it then. :D

The Herrerasaurus looks really solid too, quite the step up from their very first one for sure! And except for that larger head that Edaphosaurus is pretty nice, big fan of the colors.

Eatmycar

This herrerasaurus is a pleasant surprise. I'm going to echo other folks here, I hope they redo some of their older sculpts. This is a definite glow-up, and some of the older Mattel figures need it.

That said, things like the weird-looking Giganotosaurus which is clearly based on a prototype of the film design, need it first.

Just saw the newest wave of Dino Trackers mini figures are on ebay. Thankfully they were generous with listing the codes:

#1 Tyrannosaurus
#2 Giganotosaurus
#4 Triceratops & Velociraptor Blue
#5 Allosaurus & Pteranodon
#6 Stegosaurus & Dimetrodon
#7 Suchomimus & Stygimoloch
#8 Ankylosaurus & Ceratosaurus
#9 Majungasaurus & Ouranosaurus
#10 Sarcosuchus & Kentrosaurus
#11 Sinoceratops & Concavenator

I'm guessing that leaves the Amargasaurus and Herrerasaurus at #3 then. Edit: Yep watched a video with it and the Ouranosaurus & Majungasaurus and can confirm it was number 3.

Now if anyone has the luck of finding these, can anyone help me out with the Mattel Product codes that are on the bottoms of the plastic trays? I use those for updating the DinoToyCollector site. From the video I watched I think Amargasaurus and Herrerasaurus was HLT29, and the Ouranosaurus and Majungasaurus was HLT35.

So the two mystery species had their names revealed. Piatnitzkysaurus and Tupandactylus. While the skull of the former is pretty fragmentary, I doubt it had crests like this. The Tupandactylus is too similar to the previous Tapejara for me to be interested in it.

They really keep spinning a wheel for naming their figures huh? The lower jaw of the Piatnitzkysaurus looks...kinda odd? It's hard to put it but something feels off, as if there's like two jaws fused together idk
And I should not be surprised given their Tapejara (and well...JP3s Pteranodon) but teeth? Really? Apart from that and the visible fenestrae it's actually pretty decent for a 10 bucks toy
