Blade-of-the-Moon

Ordered one of each. Wouldn't let me use my coupon on them for some reason though. It's nice having a around a month to wait vs 4 or 6 months.

Blue I missed out on ordering on Target, Amazon has a September release date I think for it? I'm seeing a lot of issues with her though so I might cancel it.

Mamenchisaurus is being slowly phased out for the new Diplodocus. If you want I'd carefully watch for a sale. I think it was on sale at mine last week?

Oddly cohesive design. I think the design team did well on this one. Seems to be going for a more Concavenator-like reconstruction rather than a generic allosauroid with a sale stapled on.

Even though I'm pretty sure it's authentic, the design doesn't perfectly match what we saw in the trailer. It happened quite often, like with Scorpios Rex and Nothosaurus.

It could be incomplete footage? Might also not be the Becklespinax .

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy I somehow missed this earlier. I might pick up this whole pack honestly. Behind on the Mosasaurus, the adult Allosaurus, and Atrociraptor. I'm glad it comes with a correctly colored Pierce mini as well. That bugged me last year lol. Also comes with a mini Ben from the looks of it. I do wonder why Bumpy is missing from the set. One would think she would be present if Pierce is.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully the new sculpts (and Kentrosaurus repaint) get individual releases. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but Andy shared an image in his recent news video showing there was only repacks for Wave 2.

Now that I think about it, surprised they didn't include the new Pachyrhinosaurus and Suchomimus designs in that mini set. Hope they come later.

Edit: And Parasaurolophus lux, but it did have several mini figures from prior years.

Prehistory Resurrection

Hammond Collection Pyroraptor and Delta:

Gwangi

Wish the fingers were painted on the Pyro but it's still a vast improvement over the mainline toy. I'll definitely get it.

Blade-of-the-Moon

The Pyro does look pretty nice. The unpainted fingers sort of blend into the wings so not super noticeable? I wish the red on the body was airbrushed instead of hand painted. Just it look flowed better/more natural.

Shane

Are they keeping the glass eye effect on these raptors that they had on Blue?

I found an HC Blue at Target and the eye effect is a bit off putting, it doesn't read too well on such a small figure.

Carnoking

I know these are early promo shots but the Pyro paint job is leaving me a little cold. Sculpt is a huge improvement but the colors look like one of their basic figures.

Delta is just vanilla to me at this point, not bad but just another Raptor, no clear cut signs of improvement over Blue (who I'm yet to feel a twinge of excitement for now that it's available)

Flaffy

The Pyroraptor looks like it's missing a couple layers of paint. The simplicity makes it look like an ANIA figure rather than something fitting in the Hammond Collection. I do wish they ditched the unnecessary glass eyes for these small figures though. If it aint broke...

MLMjp

I second everything you guys said, Pyro looks good but need better paint application.

Faelrin

Sculpt is miles ahead of the previous version. My only issue is the lack of paint (mostly on the head and tail), and white claws (which should be black or dark grey at best), which aren't film accurate. Hope the final product is better in this regard.

I think the Ania figure is better painted as far as the hands and tail goes, compared to this image (which came from Amazon Japan). Release date is late June, about a month after the Giganotosaurus and Therizinosaurus. So I guess that means the HC reveals for this month will be this and Delta. Though I kind of figured that anyways.

So thoughts on what they might do from here? At the very least we need the Spinosaurus, Indominus rex, adult Stegosaurus, maybe the Quetzalcoatlus, and Atrociraptor squad (though I'm not too interested honestly). Still would like the Dominion blue striped Parasaurolophus, (demon) Carnotaurus, Nasutoceratops, and Iguanodon (which desperately is in need of a resculpt), if not some Camp Cretaceous creatures like Bumpy, Pierce, etc. I'm wondering if the lack of medium figures is due to the new introduced scale, with the Carnotaurus, and maybe the Therizinosaurus.

I know it was part of that failed Kickstarter, but they really ought to release an adult male T. rex. If they really don't wanna do the one from TLW, they've still got the one from JP3 with its lighter green colour scheme. I doubt anyone would complain about that, even though it's not as popular as the TLW male.

The Giganotosaurus is just such an improvement over the T. rex they did. The legs and feet in particular are so nice.
I really think there should be a T. rex on the same level as it...although I would prefer if they ditch the rubber cheeks.
In 10 years, those cheeks and the tails could be really cracked and dry.

They should really do an adult Stegosaurus. And really, I'd love it if they could update any of their older figures. I would absolutely love an updated JP3 Velociraptor in male and female colours. Speaking of that, is this new Delta figure a repaint of the Blue? Because I really love how Blue looks in pictures I've seen of the figure. If the Delta is the same figure, it's a must buy.

I actually think I see a new headsculpt for her that adds the larger crests Delta has in the movie. That's nice!

They've done species that haven't "actually" appeared on-screen, so Teratophoneus would be a great pick for a medium-sized figure and Herrerasaurus would be a great small one. Personally, I'd like it if they could do a Troodon, but I'd want it to be the ones from the Telltale game. Do they even have the license to use that design? I have no idea why they don't use the Telltale Troodon and the website design Suchomimus in JP stuff, they always make new designs for these two as if they're totally oblivious of how beloved those two designs are.

Faelrin

avatar_DefinitelyNOTDilo @DefinitelyNOTDilo How did I forget the buck? I agree they definitely should still release it (and a new update on the first T. rex). I'd also like updates on the JPIII raptors especially, but kind of doubt they will, but who knows.

They definitely did a Telltale Troodon before in late 2020/early 2021 (and while the sculpt wasn't great, Herrerasaurus as well in 2018):

Still available btw (for a bit of a markup): https://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-World-Cretaceous-Attack-Troodon/dp/B08PVGXSNY

Oh, you tagged the wrong person there...! I'm just Dilopho.

I know they did those before, I have the Troodon. But a) For an animal like Troodon, having full articulation would be much preffered. Just the ability to do things like have the head tilting would be great.

And to be honest, I think that's a poor attempt at the Telltale Troodon. The eyes are too small and too...normal looking (Glass eyes with no pupil behind them would be perfect!), it has a membrane instead of quills, and...well, it overall just doesn't look the same. It's the Telltale colours, but on a whole different body.

Artwork by SebvirartZ on DeviantArt.

If they were gonna do a Troodon. here's how I'd rank the choices from best to worst:

Best: Telltale Troodon
Good: Mattel's own design
Okay: JWE Troodon
Bad: The Live show Troodon.
