On the fence with this one. I like the addition of some color to this model but some of the paint application looks sloppy. Not a fan of the teeth, they look too big and peg shaped. I also don't like how it balances on one hand. I'll still get one eventually and won't really be able to judge it until I do.

Looks like it is planning to beat something to death with its tail...
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Wow, the quality of Papo figures has really gone down :(.
Are we sure it is not a bootleg? The plastic looks strange, and less detailed than the other PAPO figures...

It's unlikely that pirates would have already bootlegged a figure that has only been released a few weeks or days ago. It's probably just the lighting.

At least it's not bouncing back on it, à la Gregory S Paul >:D

sauroid

the urzeitshop Dilophosaurus looks so different from the STS one.

The skin looks like Bullyland...maybe it will look better in person

That bouncing back reminds me to Cryolophosaurus from Dinosaur Revolution. From which book is that?
@sauroid: You are right, they look different.
The pics that Mauro posted are much better. I think it will be better seen with our eyes.

A comparation of size of the Dilophosaurus with the Allosaurus:

Concavenator

(Regarding the hand-support thing)I think we should remember that there's a study that suggests that
Dilophosaurus might've been the ancestor of Spinosauridae. It had big claws, specialised dentition for fishing and wasn't as strong as other theropods. That wouldn't let Dilophosaurus hunt big preys.Thereby, the suggestion of it being a fisher. That's why I think its hand's touching the ground.Maybe it's looking for a fish... ::)

No offense, but I think that's silly. Dilophosaurus was probably related to Cryolophosaurus. It's true that its classification has been controversial, but most palaeontologists say it's a member of Coelophysidae. And its claws don't look well adapted to fishing at all. I think the resemblance of the jaws is pure convergence, nothing more (but I do not think Dilophosaurus was a fish eater).

Blade-of-the-Moon

I used to think the same, the jaws look so similar to spinosaurs..but that's  where they end too.  I looked it up awhile ago and I don't think anyone believes they are related. Possibly convergent evolution. Salmon and certain species of Moray eels have similar jaws and aside from being fish that's about all they have in common.  I do have to say I think Dilophosaurus like any predator would probably eat anything that could fit into it's mouth, so it's quite possible it consumed fish as a part of it's diet, not sure how big a part though.

On the toy side, I'm glad the tail didn't turn out to be super thin like we thought in that first pic !

The idea of Spinosaurs related to Dilophosaurus family isnt new. I read that in Predatory Dinosaurs of the World. Spinosaurs for me are very strange. We dont know what Dilophosaurus eate, but maybe he wouldnt left a carcass of a big fish near a lake.
Dilophosaurids are now neotheropods, related to Coelophysidae and Zupaysaurus.
Wait...Cryolophosaurus isnt related to Dilophosaurus?

Blade-of-the-Moon

I believe it was said it probably was related to Cryo.

Gwangi

Regardless of what it ate, it still shouldn't have to support its weight on its fingers.  ;)

If it's available in Germany now, it ought to be it Belgium by August for sure. I don't know whether the shop in the Brussels NHM keeps proper track of new releases though. They do have a grand shop regardless (or did three year ago at least), which not only sells Papo, but also Bullyland, Schleich, Safari Ltd., Collecta and even Favorite (both Soft Models and desktop figures). And Chinasaurs too. Both the museum and shop I can highly recommend. :)

I think the Archeopteryx and Dilophosaurus are both really great, what's wrong with them?
