The Struthiosaurus austriacus model is stunning! I like the natural colors and patterns you gave it too.

Alright, here is the finished version! Took me long enough (and cost me quite a few nerves, to be honest), but at long last: here is my first, finished, scientific illustration. I had a lot of fun working on it, as well as taking a look at the original material of Struthiosaurus austriacus and all the rather strange features for a nodosaurid. I'll talk to the clients about releasing the model on shapeways, but I'll let you guys know as soon as possible, anyway!

In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

That is simply fabulous. Although this is certainly a bit fanciful, it looks like it could walk straight off my screen and start nomming on my front lawn. I am not exaggerating when I say it might be one of the best models I've ever seen.

Thanks guys!

Actually, the only thing a bit fanciful are the colors by now. After examining the original materials from S. austriacus (which are stored here at the University of Vienna), I must say, without trying to turn anyone down, this is probably the closest reconstruction of this animal to date. Since we had a rather short time window for this particular image, there are still a few things that might need some tweaking for future uses. But the new revelations about this strange dinosaur might turn into my bachelor's thesis as well.

Nah, even the colours suit it perfectly. I can see me walking this thing on the beach, with a collar and lead.

I was thinking something along those lines as well, actually. Would be pretty neat, kind of like a pet pig. :D

The only thing fanciful is it breaking out of my screen and nomming on my lawn. I wasn't referring to the model, it certainly has exceptional accuracy.

Since I needed to relax after the holiday stress, I sat down on my better half's computer and came up with a little scenery sketch today. Sue, overlooking her king-/queendom. ;)

Thanks everyone, I really like it so far. If my muse bites again, I might work on it a bit more. But don't expect a feathered Sue, I can't bring myself to draw those feathers properly do it. ;)

I figured I'd post this in here, since it's my art thread. Fiddling around with backgrounds and whatnot, haven't done this in ages and need to get back into proper photomanipulation.

Note to self: use better camera for reference shots.

I just found this on my computer! A quick color idea I had for Parasaurolophus cyrtocristatus, if it really was a separate species. Comparison between male and female (the male is running on two legs). I still like this idea, maybe I'll turn this into my first digital ornithopod sculpture?

If I model and paint this, I will change the pattern a bit though, to make it look less uniform and more realistic.

A little sexual dimorphism for the Tyrannosaurus (just ideas, so far):
