I like the frill pattern! Makes sense for display purposes...
And eye stripes are the best! ;)

I always like the colours you choose for your dinosaurs. Just 'cause something is brown or grey doesn't mean it can't be beautiful and eye catching. Your colour patterns prove that.

fabricious

Thanks a lot TQ! :) It's all about observing existing patterns, I just love looking at references.

Here is a first, quick, posing test. I must say: this thing really is a tank.

I can imagine Mr. T-rex being less than willing to tackle this beast!

True indeed! That makes it more interesting to imagine a smaller Albertosaurus hunting an adult Pachyrhinosaurus. I'd imagine them attacking the smaller young ones or old and wounded individuals, since a healthy, fully grown tank like this might be a bit too much to chew. :D

Tallin

Yep, and those spines would get stuck in one's teeth...:D

Your work is beautiful!  I love how natural and lifelike your modals are, like the real animals they are.  Do you mind if I use your images as reference? I don't have a lot of experience drawing dinosaurs, and your models really help visualize the soft tissue and muscle over the bones.  😊

Thank you! You may use them as reference, sure, I can't guarantee that they are 100% accurate, though, since I can only use the reference and information I can find myself. :)

After a long time of no updates (due to stressful exam stuff and other works in progress), have some pictures of the Giraffatitan! I hope to finish him some time soon and try the slicing part, so it can be printed as a bigger model.

The extreme wrinkles will most likely be softened in the progress.

Cool. Looks well done to me. :)

You seem to have the hang of this computer art deal..would you be interested in designing some signs for me? Feel free to PM or email me : [email protected]

Ooh wow
Very nice 1 here
Really well done
What scale is it and do you plan some alt positions on it?

Thanks! This is only the modeling pose, I am still far from done with it. I intend to make at least one dynamic pose (as far as sauropods go, haha) for it.
As for the scale: I'll submit it to shapeways in 1/72 and, if I can manage to slice the model up properly, even in larger scales. :)

reinier zwanink

1/72 ?
Thats good for starters
Any idea what priceclass it would come?
I have looked many times now at the amarga in 1/20 (not my favorite thou)
And every time the price sets me back sadly

fabricious

I can't really say anything about the prices, since it is always individually set up according to used material and the amount of space the model takes up in the printer (as well as if they are able to print other models next to it to save space). I will keep you guys updated about it, of course.

reinier zwanink

I will keep following your work
Man i just love sauropodes

Tallin

When you submit to shapeways, do you have to pay them a lot with each submission? I'm curious about how it works...I assume the original artist gets royalties for each print made?

You do not have to pay them anything. You just have to properly prepare your model (hollow it out with an excess hole included, to reduce material cost), submit it in one of the chosen formats (and with under 1 million polygons) and then you can chose which materials will be made available. It takes a bit of tinkering to get everything right. You can set up a markup-fee, basically the amount of money you get from printed models (the overall price is set up by shapeways).

DinoLord

Very nice! Is this going to be the final pose or do you have more options you're considering?
