The skin texture on the brachiosaurus is very convincing! Do you have any models currently for sale on Shapeways?

may i ask, how much is zbrush. I've tried pricing it out and i've seen price ranges from a couple hundred to well over 1, 000 dollars.

Here is the official pricing on the website: http://store.pixologic.com/ZBrush-4R7-Single-User-License/

Hm, as usual, there are some issues with making the model available for shapeways. This might take a while.

fabricious

Since I couldn't make the models ready for shapeways so far, I tried myself at a new color scheme for this guy.

I personally like this one much, much better.

That's gorgeous. I'm not sure if I asked this before, but where do you get the ideas for colour schemes? I will be keeping an eye on Shapeways so I can buy a FUD version when it is available >:D

I basically come up with them on the run. :) There are some basic rules for reptilian markings I have found (such as the tear-canal markings seen in quite a few of my models or the striped tails). From there, I just go ahead and explore what I can come up with. With this one, I started with a light brown layer, added a darker color on top (since melanin appears to be more frequent on top of animals), then I use a smaller, darker brush and go crazy with stripes, basically. I'm not THAT happy with the green markings on the side, yet, I might turn them into more of an olive tone (or maybe yellow-ish). From now on it's just adding tiny details and crevices to the colors, so it gets more depth and holds up for rendering, I'd love to turn this guy into an upright poster at some point. :)

As for shapeways: I'm glad you're considering that! ;) Maybe I can get him up and running later today, I just hope his details display well on the FUD!

The skin details on that head are amazing! Beautiful model and painting. I think I would also "weather" the green a bit more on the muted side. But that's just my liking on the bigger guys. Who really knows. They might have had some brightly colored markings!

My thoughts exactly! That's why I tend to give them a more washed out overall look, since most large reptiles today tend to look more like that when they get bigger, usually.

Tweaked the colors and pattern a bit, much better.

that is absolutely gorgeous. great work

Meso-Cenozoic

I agree, Fabricious, much more natural. And that skin texture is so mind-blowingly realistic looking!

Tyto_Theropod

I loved the old colour scheme, but this one is even nicer - it really suits the animal. He looks so real!

Since nothing about my models wanted to cooperate with me these past few days, have a speculative behavior from Velociraptor sp., grasping and manipulating a dead lizard.

Tallin

Ah, this is brilliant! I especially like the head of this guy/gal - very naturalistic and birdlike.
