Working on a fake Velociraptor made me want to do a proper one as well... 'Cricket' in the making.

Tumtist

Wow,I love all the sketch, zbrush model!! it's so good!!

Can't wait to see your Velociraptor

Alright, I FINALLY got to work on my bigger-than-life-sized Velociraptor sculpture some more. I found a new technique that is called 'cloth maché', it's really powerful and I used it to make the scutes on the feet and cover half the face so far.

@Blade-of-the-Moon : you might want to check that one out! www.gourmetpapermache.com is the site I got the idea from, might be really nice for details in your models (only old bedsheets and waterproof white glue needed).

Oh, and I started working on the wing feathers (out of cardboard as well, since I couldn't get my hands on any real feathers and now I just want to get the model done).

fabricious

Aaand all the important feather shapes are done.

jooooo

Very nice :) Are you gonna to the neck feathers and tail fan too?

fabricious

She'll get about the same amount of feathering as my character 'Cricket'. ;) I'll just have to figure out a good way to make the ones for the neck (so I can cover them in paper maché).

Giraffatitan is now ready to be ordered from shapeways (@Tyrantqueen, I think you were asking about it?)!

I hope it prints well!

Since I can't really think of a concept or plan to what model I'll be working on next: have everyone's favorite (and the most overdrawn) ceratopsian, Triceratops horridus. I am currently watching the workflow of Damir G. Martin and am very inspired by his technique of sculpting every scale individually, I might try that here.

Suggestions on this guy are welcome.

Somehow, my dinosaurs look more like characters than animals. More reference studying needed, it seems.

fabricious

It is actually coming along nicely, I think!

jooooo

Maybe you need to make them a little more cute to make them look like animals.

fabricious

Long time no update from me, I apologize for that! I finally got a chance to work a little more on the trike model. If there are recommendations or wishes for shapeways-poses for this guy, let me know!

Tyto_Theropod

Everyone puts their Trikes in bellowing/attacking/threat postures, so why not, as well as any of those you might do, have a peacefully grazing one, or even a sleepy one? ;) I'm sure there will be people out there who'll appreciate it for their dioramas.

A sleeping one is a great idea! I completely forgot that I wanted to do that with my Pachyrhinosaurus, haha. I'll definitely make a neutrally standing one as well!

jooooo

Beautiful. :D Are you gonna add quills. And i mentioned it before, if you want it to look more naturalistic i'd make it cuter.

Btw i finished my diorama with your Albertosaurus.

fabricious

I am still deciding about the quills, since there has been a lot of controversy whether they were actually there or the scutes just supported keratinous bumps.
As for the cuteness-part: Comparing this guy to a fully grown, male rhinoceros, I'd say the cuteness-part is most likely reducing by age. ;) I'll try to give him more personality as I progress, though.

Here is a current picture of him:

I'd love to see the diorama! :D
