Hi avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson, i really love your sculpts so much! But i want to know who made the  2017 giganotosaurs, and do you have a prototype images of it.

He does not know who made the other 2017 models, and if he did, he would not be allowed to reveal his/her name.

What he said.

What I am wondering is what the scales of your other sculpts are in, and if the ones I found above were intended for the production pieces or the prototype sculpts (and how much would those differ anyways)? That is assuming you have the time to answer something like this, since I imagine it might be time consuming to come up with.

Of the ones I have not found scales for (from you anyways, although I found many of these from other members here in various collection threads, if not others), are (in spoiler again because quite long, and also separated by year of release):

And while I could not find posts mentioning these, I believe I recall you (if not someone else perhaps) mentioning that the American Mastodon and Woolly Mammoth are in 1/30 and 1/40 scale respectively? Is that correct? I also would like to ask about what scales the 2018 North American Wildlife Bison and Muskox (since they certainly were Pleistocene megafauna, just as they are today) are in, assuming you did those as well (I think I recall you saying you did those though)?

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin  Yah that is one heck of a list you have there. Safari Ltd does not ask me to do pieces in set scales, when I do the prehistoric pieces I of course determine the scale I am working on but that is mainly for my use and finding that information on something I did years ago is pretty much hit and miss. I would have to go back and measure and do the calculations. The scales I have provided here on the DTF are usually right after the official release and I usually have the info at hand or people are only asking about a few of them. The scale is based on the actual production piece. I add a percentage of size to my originals to account for loss in shrinkage in the production process and as far as I have seen they end up in the size range I planned for. I really can't see me having the time to go through your extensive list but when I have a chance I will try to get you the scales for these 4 above.
Oh I just remembered the Mastodon is 1:30 and the Mammoth is also 1:40, so I'll get you the other two when I can and yes I did them.

Faelrin

avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson Thanks for the information there. It was definitely informative.

I also figured that coming up with scales for all of those on that list would certainly be time consuming, and hard to fit with your schedule, so that does not come as surprising to me but I do appreciate you are willing to help out with the Bison and Muskox at least once you have time to do so (as well as for the info that the American Mastodon and Woolly Mammoth that are in 1:30 and 1:40 after all). I can try to dig around the forums here for the others as I know many members here post approximate scales for many of the figures. Once again, thanks.

I have scale estimates for a lot of these in my collection thread. Doug can tell me if they're wildly wrong.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Thanks. I was already beginning to dig through your thread to gather what you had, but this is much faster.

I guess this just leaves:

Spoiler

2004:
-Smilodon

2005:
-Woolly Mammoth baby
-Smilodon cub (retired)

2006:
-Andrewsarchus (retired)
-Arsinoitherium (retired)
-Doedicurus

2010:
-Coelacanth

2011:
-Tyrannosaurus (though I mean it has been superseded by the 2017 one, but eh for completions sake I guess).

2012:
-Acrocanthosaurus (Although I believe either you or another person answered this in one of my old threads asking about which Acrocanthosaurus came closer to 1:35. I'll dig for that later).

In regards to Ceratosaurus I did find that in your collection thread which you had as 1:30 scale.

2013:
-Gastornis (retired)

2015:
-Archaeopteryx (Might have been posted in one of my old threads as well. I'll take a look).

2016:
-Carcharodontosaurus
-Iguanodon

2017:
-Deinocheirus
-Parasaurolophus

2018:
-Daeodon

I can continue to dig on the forum here for the others, if not elsewhere, such as the DinoToyCollector site, which has scales for many of these although I have noticed there are quite a few discrepancies between Doug's and your scales, so I'm not entirely sure how reliable those would be. For example the 2010 Apatosaurus is listed as being 1:80 scale there, where you have it scaled at 1:40, and the Suchomimus is listed as being 1:60 there, where you have it scaled at 1:40, or the 2017 Tyrannosaurus as 1:45 when Doug intended it to be 1/35 scale, among many others.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin I checked the production pieces for the Muskox and the Plains Bison. For scales based on the upper size ranges for the species the Muskox is 1:22 and the Bison is 1:24 so could even be considered the same scale if you had a very large Muskox and a bison in the smaller size range. I am going to pull back on my responses here on the forum so don't be upset if I don't answer future queries about my pieces, nothing personal.

Faelrin

avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson Thank you very much for taking the time to get those and getting back to me about it. I appreciate it very much. And no worries about that, although thanks for the heads up.

Have you added lips in your feathered velociraptor 2017? If not, don't you think that it is scientifically inaccurate?

Kapitaenosavrvs

Absolutely wonderful to see the Originals from you. Thank you very much for sharing these. It is extremely interesting to see the Differences in the original Sculps and the final Product. The Masiakasaurus had such sharp and long teeth. Of Course they can't do that on a Toy and Costs are a thing. But it feels like the details got beefed up in the recent Products. Something i am really thankful for ( And still very very affordable! Today i finally got your feathered T. rex and it feels and looks like a more expensive Model, rather than "just" a Toy).

There are a few of your Sculps (Maybe all of them), that would be great as a Resin variant / "premium Variant" with the overall Details, you originally sculpted.

Thank you for your work and for being so transparent. It is not the normal case, that we have the chance to see originals, i guess.
