Well, I have mentioned it enough so now that I can post pictures I thought it was time to share.

Here is a first overview. As I have mentioned this is also a workspace so I have my collection with my library plus pieces are strewn about the room. The big upright case and the shorter one to the left house most of the good stuff. The Ikea wall mounted case has most of my production Safaris. I do extant animals for them as well so most of them are from that category.

This is what's on top of the main case. It's funny every morning Buzz seems to be in a different location ;)

The rest of the library.

First shelf of paleo books.

2nd shelf

3rd shelf

4th shelf

5th shelf

Collection part 1. To say they are jammed in there is an understatement. To show them properly I'll take each set out and take them separately, that will give me an excuse to dust. But I'll have to do it over a period of time. There is SRG, Alva, La Brea, Marx, Ajax, Linde, Sinclair, Kleinwelka, Battat, ROM, Pyro, MPC, Lido, Miller etc, etc

My second case, there are more Marx, Millers, Superior, AAA, Imperial, Invicta and some company named Papo etc

These are some of my Safari originals, most of my "dinos", just missing the prehistoric mammals I did for them, they are on another shelf. This should put an end to the rumour that I recycle sculpts, you will see all my horned dinos accounted for. Also, don't strain your eyes I removed anything that hasn't been released yet. Oh yah, that big T rex vs Triceratops is a stillborn kit I was doing but I gave it up when I saw that Chris Darga had done the almost exact thing with a T rex and a Styracosaurus.

Here are the original sculpts that I did for the Prehistoric Mammal line.

Wow...very great collection  :) look at all resin figure when you gonna paint it ?  :D again great collection..

Tallin

Really incredible. I am immensely jealous of your library especially! With most dinosaur books of interest being available only over the internet to me (no bookshops in south west England seem to care much about prehistoric natural history) I do miss being able to thumb through the pages of a book before I buy it...

It's also amazing to see the original sculpts, a great insight into the process!

Thanks ARUL, do you mean the T rex vs Triceratops or the JP Raptor. The T rex vs TRiceratops was a kit I was going to do but stopped when I saw the Darga piece. I will probably never finish that. The raptor is on my to do list along with all the other JP Horizons that I have.

Thanks Tallin, I do love my books and I am lucky that once this became a career they are deductible tax wise. I got a lot of the rarer ones through Advanced Book Exchange but I had the advantage of checking them out first at the library of the museum that I used to work at.

Great to finally see your dinosaur collection but I must admit my eye was drawn more to then books than anything else, an equally impressive collection.

Thank you, yes the dinos would be better if they were spread out more like some other collectors here have them, I'll pull them out a bit at a time to showcase them. I have always loved books and started collecting dinosaur books at a young age, you can spot a few from my childhood in there.

Really cool to see the unpainted masters of so many figures--including Toob dinos--that adorn my shelves. Thanks for sharing!

sauroid

such an impressive collection of figures and books.
i'm thrilled that one of the great creators of the very plastic figures we collect and adore is here among us as one of the avid collectors in DTF that interact with us on a regular basis.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Concavenator

Shonisaurus

The collection is magnificent, by the way I see you have the best encyclopedia of dinosaurs (in my humble opinion) is the glue encyclopedia. Menudo level.
I congratulate the glue encyclopedia only they can allow people with lots of money, I tried to buy but worth every volume on the 300 €. By the way other dinosaur books are also luxury provoke me healthy admiration.
I wish I have that book collection of dinosaurs and not those sold in my country.
By the way the dinosaurs, they are also beautiful.

Thank you, the Glut Encyclopedia is indeed a great resource especially when you want to know what really exists in the way of specimens on a particular dinosaur. Plus there is a picture of me in one of them! :))

Lovely display, and especially appreciate the books !  I'm always curious about why people collect what they do - is there a theme or reason behind the figures you have?  Or is it more a case of "I like this" or "This is a great sculpt" (e.g. professional respect / reference) ?  Great to see Baby Puss in there  ;D

Takama

I really love your collection of Safari Resins.   The looks so much different from there Spawns.

Awesome collection Doug! You may not have quantity like some but there is a ton of quality work in there! ;D

I hate to see a piece go unfinished especially when your so far along. It's been awhile since Darga did his and it's pretty hard to get too. So I hope you do consider completing it.

I started to collect "seriously" back in 2000 when I got a copy of Prehistoric Times and then the Dana Cain & Mike Fredericks Dinosaur Collectibles guide. All I still had from my youth were the brown Marx slim T rex and brown Marx brontosaurus that you see in the main cabinet, 2nd shelf down in the front and to the left. My mother bought me those circa 1961 at the Canadian Museum of Nature.  I had many more Marx, Ajax, Nabisco, Lido figures when I was little but they were all gone. Mike Fredericks helped me with my first quest, a complete Marx flat finish set. After that I started getting all the other stuff I had, stuff I wanted back then and couldn't afford and then the stuff in the Collectibles guide that had the nostalgic look I grew up on. I am a completist so when I got one piece of a set I usually set about getting the rest. I have most of what I wanted from the 40s to the 90s now. I still buy new stuff but it has to be a great sculpt like some of the Papo stuff and the new work by Dan Lorusso. I don't buy the really expensive Sideshow stuff although I think it is great, I just can't justify the expense and I don't have the room.

Thanks Blade, your Alva Iguanodon is sitting in there I'll be pulling it out later to shoot with my other Alvas. I doubt I'll ever get that piece out as a kit, they just don't sell well enough to justify the cost. I may finish it as a stand alone piece for myself but I have such a gosh darn long list of projects who knows if I will live long enough.
