[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Hello everybody,

I sculpted this in Sep. and never got around to posting it, I had the Dunkleosteus bug and had to do something about it, so I sculpted this little guy for fun. I like to do an experimental sculpt with sculpey every once in a while that is more relaxed then the 1:40 sculpts made for casting that I do.

The colors were inspired from some art of a sail fish on a shirt... Or was it a sword fish... Or maybe a marlin... What's with all the pointy noses???

I was picturing a bigger carnivorous theropod, but chilesaurus does have a lot in common here, good idea.

I'll probably make more in this style for fun, so anyone can let me know if they're interested in any of them and I might mold it.

I would be interested in a little Acrocanthosaurus! If possible... ;D

This reminds me of the old C.Knight Iguanadon.

Takama

I am amused by your line of Chubbies, I would love to collect them. But i want to give more focus on your main line of Figures.

That being said, i will suggest species for those who are interested in buying them

Yi

Microraptor

Dilophosaurus

Troodon

If you made many of these in popular species and molded them all to where you could put out sets of figures, you could totally market them. I bet theyd go really well on ebay. So stinkin CUTE!

Thank you Takama, PainterRex, Acro, and Archinto! I'm glad you're interested, I'd like to mold them after I finish up the two molds I'm working on right now. Fun stuff!

The Acro is 3" and the other one is smaller.

Im curious to see your molding process. Ive been wanting to cast stuff for a long time but the molds i would need to make would need to be for fairly complex models. Some of the info online is just too confusing or doeant apply to makng a mold thatd be ok for a dinosaur. I seen an awesome t rex that was done in a two part block mold, but how the heck they made it is like some highly guarded secret.

I'd be happy to help! I've read soooo many blogs trying to figure out the ins and outs of mold making, and it always lead to more questions. The greatest recourse has been being able to talk to Doug Watson on this forum. You can see my mold making thread here: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3126.msg116158#new

Dinosaurs like Sauropods and hadrosaurs can be done with a two part mold, and more complex Dino's require a three part mold. My Hylaeosaurus needed a third part on top to vent all the spikes.

I just posted the beginning of my Lepto mold at the bottom of this page: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3984.120
