..about Uintatherium's memories from my childhood, there's a movie with a Uintatherium/theropod-based strange creatures fight..

Does anyone else here remember this ?:

The colours on paleocraft Uintatherium are stunning  :o

...Martin Garratt of course... I have zero skills on painting figures..  :'(

..but good skills with photography  ;)

Fenestra

Everytime I see the Collecta Uintatherium, the pose always strikes me as weird.
Until you pose it with another figure hunting or attacking it.
Then it all makes sense.

Good old Collecta. Always full of surprises.  ^-^

PhilSauria

Big fan of these group photos. Another excellent image, thanks for posting RG.

#1384
..just a little story behind a custom figure..

In January 2017 I was searching for a predatory figure to stand near a Synthetoceras  1:8  running model already in my collection:

In my opinion the best match would have been Sean Cooper Xenosmilus 1:10 :

Pretty same scale; unfortunately it was discontinued and not available online.

So I went for the Sean Cooper Smilodon 1:6 :

My idea was about a nice diorama:

(this is a Photoshopped picture with 2 different images scaled and composited into one)

I ordered the kit from Dan's Dinosaurs.
It took quite a long time to be casted at an Hong Kong factory.
I received it 2 months later... (it wasn't Dan's fault, of course).

Then I sent the kit to UMF Models ( aka the great Martin Garratt )

That's the model during painting process at UMF:

(Did you see the 1:1 Predator in the first picture ?  8) )

I requested some small black additions around the eyes:

Marilyn (Garratt's assistant) sent me a picture for the final approval:

When I received the figure, I was totally surprised because it was really wonderful:

..but also really BIG, way bigger than my 1:8 Synthetoceras..  :-\

Obviously it was my fault ..  ::)

I did not consider that 1:6 VS 1:8 could be a BIG DIFFERENCE in real scale with relatively small animals.

So now I have two wonderful figures that don't match to each others as I thought .  ;D

(p.s  I'm still searching for a good hunting match for my Synthetoceras  :P )

Shonisaurus

Magnificent paleoartistic representation of xenosmilus and Robin synthetoceras. They are two works of art by Sean Cooper and with his personalized painting greatly improves the figures.  :)

I would like toy dinosaur companies to represent more figures of other saber tooth felines such as xenosmilus or machairodus and that some toy company would make a good representation of the synthetoceras, except Starlux and some other company have not made figures relevant to that animal.

ceratopsian

Both are beautiful models. I would have made the same mistake on their relative scales as you did.

Jose S.M.

Too bad they didn't worked out like a diorama, but both are beautiful pieces. I hope you find your predator to match the Synthetoceras.

I think it's awesome, what a models, my favorites are the diorama with the trike and the Invicta for nostalgia sake  ;D
The head of the Galileo Rex is perfect, he's really intimidating.

Bokisaurus

Ah, the ever popular and ubiquitous rex! It really is interesting to see the many different looks of him ;D

Jetoar

Definetly you need my rex Robingoodfellows in your collection  ;D ;D. Wonderful models as always  ;)
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Did my eyes deceive me, or did I NOT see a Kenner "Gulper" Jurassic Park II TREX in your collection?  You can't be serious about having an awesome TRex collection without THAT one!!!  ;)

RobinGoodfellow

@ Simon: Basically I'm not a JP collector.
I have Thraser and Baby from my younger age.
And I have the Jurassic World statue because I'm also a big Dvd/Blu-Ray collector (and movie fan).
That's all.
But frankly I really don't like JP merchandise in general (too "toy").
^-^

Shonisaurus

Magnificent collection of tyrannosaurus rex from the various companies of resin, vinyl and PVC. By the way in relation to tyrannosaurus rex Walking with dinosaurs, mine has the same defects as the one shown in the photo. It is very given to abrasions that figure, apart from having stability problems.

On the other hand how much would give to have the first or second version of tyrannosaurus rex Battat, which you have is a real rarity for any collector who boasts.

I congratulate you on the beautiful photos.  :)

Jose S.M.

That's great, I like the head colors and detail around its eyes.
