Something wild and uniquely Australian is on the way.. we're very excited to announce, in conjunction with Australian Age of Dinosaurs, the upcoming release of a super high quality, specialist range of Australian Dinosaur figures. The first model in the series is Australovenator Wintonesis - nicknamed "Banjo", the most complete carnivorous Australian dinosaur ever found and the first detailed model of the species ever created. We're thrilled to be able to share an unpainted prototype today...

Email Minizoo to express interest in this range. This first figure is due around July. I'm super excited for these!
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

WOW! just WOW. btw, what are they made of?

Didn't say, that's all the information from the newsletter. It's funny, Sauroid, we only just recently mentioned how cool a range like this would be!

Hopefully Minizoo will drop by and give us some more info.

That's fantastic! The tables they turn--for once we in the northern hemisphere will covet your figures rather than the other way round. ;)

Will do, but I reckon Minizoo will give us some news soon. I hope this becomes a big range of figures - there's plenty of prehistoric aussies that are under represented in toy form. And don't forget Minizoo posts internationally so these shouldn't be hard to get a hold of. I'm SO excited! 2015 just keeps on getting better!

Yes, I remember Minizoo offering great and friendly service, but my Australian friend is coming to Germany for Christmas this year anyway, so I hope the Australovenator will be out before December. I could save on some shipping costs then.

Woah! What!?

How unexpectedly awesome is this? Shut up and take my money, Aussies! Can't wait to see the finished piece.

Really nice :) I may be interested if it's on the smaller size.

Looks like pewter.

I JUST realized the description said "unpainted." The sculpt is so good I didn't even notice.

Megalosaurus

It is pretty cool.
The claws are so sharp that I don't think the final production model end like this (children safety). Also they are so thin that will be prone to warping.
I'm excited to see the future models of this line.

That's what I was thinking. I sort of hope not, pewter is kind of soft and can be damaged easily. They won't be large judging by the size of the coin I think either.

Oddly I recall a similar pewter series featuring dinosaurs of Australia?
Here they are :

I hope these aren't too expensive; that Australovenator looks awesome!

Hi all, wow I can see that this is definitely generating some interest. We are also really pumped about this range, especially being a specifically Australian species. I can't give everything away at the moment out of respect for the AAoD who is developing the range but I can share the following:

  • the models are plastic, solid body
  • there are currently 4 models in the pipeline
  • the coin in the Banjo picture is an Australian 50c piece which is 3.1cm tall or 1.25inches, making Banjo approx 8.5cm or close to 3.5 inches tall
  • the models are designed via computer modelling and 3D printed prior to mass production as opposed to traditional clay sculpting methods allowing exceptionally high detail
  • they will be supplied painted, safety tested for over 3 years of age and 'will have as much detail as Papo' if not more so
Please email me on [email protected] to register your interest be added to our contact list for further updates. Cheers
