I wonder - could the new ones stand as more colourful males to make a pair with the earlier versions?  I will think about this........

Anatomically, Mononykus is much more similar to an emu than a pheasant.

I should've clarified my previous post. I meant that the feather arrangement on the Mononykus looked more similar to a pheasant than to an emu. In other aspects of its anatomy, Mononykus is obivously more similar to an emu.

And this the other reason why the Mononykus looks better in pheasant colours than emus colours. I can't mistake the figure for an actual pheasant, but I can mistake it for an emu.

I don't agree that the Mononykus's feather arrangement is more similar to a pheasant's than an emu's.  The feathering on the Mononykus's forelimbs is very much like an emu's - short feathers that look like the ones on the rest of the body, which makes sense given how short and specialised the forelimbs of Mononykus are.  A pheasant's forelimbs are long and have long remiges; this forms a large surface that can be strikingly coloured, and which allows a pheasant to fly.  This is extremely different to the forelimbs of the Mononykus.

With regards to tail length, the Mononykus is more like a pheasant.  However, the long tail in the Mononykus is due to the bony portion being long, while both an emu and a pheasant have a short bony portion of the tail.  A pheasant's tail is long because of large, long rectrices.  As far as I can tell from photos, the tail feathering of the Mononykus consists of relatively small feathers that resemble the feathers on most of it, and in this regard are like the tail feathers of an emu.

I have to say, I like that the Buitreraptor makes a cameo on the white nestlings artwork. It's also interesting to see that the "Troodon" has been renamed to Stenonychosaurus. I wonder if any future releases of mountain set will be revised to feature the new name.

David's really milking that Velociraptor sculpt huh.
V. osmolskae "Alpha". Everything Dinosaur and Minizoo shared exclusive.
Kind of interested in this, only because it's a V. osmolskae. And it the colours look more natural than the red and blue ones

It's a beauty, but I personally have "general 'raptor fatigue" so I'm not tempted. Need to save space for ceratopsians ;)

Well, I for one don't mind!  I passed on the velociraptors before as I wasn't mad keen on the colour scheme, but I love this one, so it's a definite on my list.

Faelrin

A mix of the blue and red one. Not bad. I won't be getting any of these new raptors though. I need to save money for the ceratopsians (and Mattel JW), although I will be picking up the white nestlings and the eastern repaint pack when it comes out.

I love that  lammergeier color variant but I dont really want another velociraptor.

So...has David gotten the package typo fixed yet in any of these later runs?  :P
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

LeapingLaelaps

Oh dear, I was originally not going to get any more raptors but... I think I'm going to get the white nestlings, new V. mongoliensis, the alpha osmolskae and one of the second release red osmolskae's (I gave the original red one I bought to my mom in exchange for her buying the blue one for me on Ebay)

Which means I'll have 19 Deluxe raptors and my OCD is not happy about that uneven number. God, I'm gonna need so many shelves for these things... :-[

Faelrin

I wonder why the two pack critters are priced as nearly as much as the accessory packs, when the nestlings are almost half that. Maybe I'll just get the nestlings for now, and get them later (in March maybe).

why are the 2nd release versions of some of the raptors more expensive than the originals?

Minmiminime

Maybe production costs have gone up a bit? I didn't foresee there being so many new variants, I would imagine there are extra costs associated with training product painters etc 🤔

I actually managed to hit a positional sweet spot and get my V. mongoliensis to stand unaided while I was watching JW:FK last night 😁 (clearly the film was holding my attention 😶) Haven't tried it with my other two yet. Still got my Kickstarter exclusive in its box, I'm amazed I've resisted this long...

ItsTwentyBelow

I've really been enjoying my raptor figures from the Kickstarter that I received last year, and am anticipating pledging for a few of the new ceratopsian releases.

After waffling endlessly, I finally just pulled the trigger on the new Western 2-Pack (Buiteraptor and young Stenonychosaurus repaint) and put in my preorder! This pack is set to finally be released next month if all goes well, and it is currently at a slight discount on the Beasts of the Mesozoic shop along with a few other figures and sets.

Two well-rendered new genera to add to my collection, and my Atrociraptor will now have a smaller North American raptor to hunt in dioramas!

triceratops83

Minizoo has some new Raptors, including the Velociraptor osmolskae Alpha - which is exclusive to only three stores worldwide.

In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Shonisaurus

Honestly seeing the raptor prices so high I suppose they will be affordable next to the BoTM ceraptosides that are going to be sold relatively soon. Those ceraptosidos will double or triple the price of raptors.
