Been very busy today with our first night of Dino Park in the Dark, went pretty good despite the rain. :)

Oh yeah, tonight was the first night! Glad it went well! Hey, the rain only made it seem more like the weather they were having in JP! Haha!!

Yep, got it! Now that's what I call a BIG pic! ;) LOL!

Here's another little sample of a could-be sign...

::) Hehe!

Blade-of-the-Moon

Yep, though we have to think safety..even the tours in JP ended when the rain started..lol

lol nice! :)

Made this photo op for the Paleorific kid'sfest event Saturday we're participating in :

I had an idea today as well. In the spirit of getting kid's outdoors and encouraging play I'm thinking we could do a Dinosaur Toy Day here at the Park.  Now I'm not sure what all it would entail just had the idea..maybe like the forum here have a diorama contest with prizes and different age groups. Have a " free play" area where kids can just play together with their dino toys...that has actually been an idea I have wanted to add to the Park for awhile now..just haven't got to it yet.  Any ideas?

I think some parents might take this too seriously

Cool looking Dimetrodon! It's coming along really nicely. I also like that idea of having a Dino Toy Day. When I was little, not every one of my friends liked dinos like I did. This will give these young dino enthusiasts a chance to be around others that like them as much as they do. (Kinda like here! ;) ) And a diorama contest is a great idea too! It could also be a learning experience. You could help guide them in identifying which ones lived together and when and where. (Although, it wouldn't surprise me that a lot them know these facts already. Hehe!)

Takama... I agree with you about my little art piece, especially the saying, right. It also doesn't help that Chris's Deinonychus looks pretty convincingly real!! LOL!

BTW, Chris, I haven't forgotten about the big pic version. Just haven't had enough extra time to play with it in photoshop yet. But if you would want to use any of your pics, just let me know if you'd want something written on them and what you'd want it to say. That's something I could do anytime. It's fast and easy. Maybe I'll go play in photoshop a bit now. ;)

Thanks man! That's exactly what I was thinking! A great time to meet and discuss our hobby for all ages.

As soon as  run out of our current postcards I'll get you to make three more designs bud and we can figure out sayings for them too!

Heres an idea

Many Teeth and Claws ahead. Proceed with caution, because they haven't been fed.

Yes! I like that!! :D

Maybe for 'rhythmic' reasons (the rhythm or flow of the poem), the "because" should be dropped?

Many Teeth and Claws ahead.
Proceed with Caution.
They haven't been fed!

Chris -- Sounds good!

You know I was also just thinking if you've ever considered dino info signs placed near each figure? They could be on rustic barn-like wood, and then either nailed to a tree or to a stake in the ground, or simply leaning against a rock. There would be the dino's identifiable silhouette on it, with a brief list of info.... name (and meaning of), size, which period they lived in and where they lived, and then if they were a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore. The signs wouldn't and shouldn't stand out too much. The dino's still what they should see first. And then, after they've caught their breath (haha!) they would notice the info sign off to the side. Just a thought. Oh, and btw, I did work on your giant Deinonychus pic tonight. It's up to 7.3 MB! LOL! I'll send it over to you in your email, if you don't think it will fill your total space left! ;)

Blade-of-the-Moon

Yes we have dino info signs, just simple small black and white laminated sheets screwed onto posts.

Like this :

They stand out a bit but you'll notice most of them are out of camera site.  I'd like to do something a bit nicer eventually as soon as we can afford it. We'd need around 36 different signs right now.. lol

Blade-of-the-Moon

Had a great time at the Paleorific Kid's Fest event yesterday, but it wore us OUT! lol We setup quite a bit, my friend talked about how we build dinosaurs while I showed off some different dinosaur teeth and used different models to talk about the dino-bird connection. Lot's of fun but it was a non-stop talking exercise for 2 hours..lol

Can the dinosaur that you build make a sound Blade ? Growling carnivore at night tour it must be so breathtaking !  :))

We have large outdoor speakers that play a variety of sounds. We also have individual sound systems for each of the enclosed exhibits.  ^-^

The info stand looks nice, Chris. That's exactly what I was talking about!

Glad your event went well. And I love it that you have sound FX throughout your park!

They work okay so far, they aren't as durable as I would like after a year they need replacing. I should print them on corrugated plastic ala yard signs but they would need to be designed and it's a lot of species to do.

It went great..but rough! An endless parade of children and adults of all types all trying to talk at once while I'm trying to talk about one subject or the other..lol  Would that I could hire a couple of forum members to help us out next time!

The sounds are pretty cool..though occasionally frighting for small kids. ..especially the T-Rex. ;)

We have a great group of students out here today from Milligan College , I loved how interested and appreciative they were of our work here at the Park!

Blade-of-the-Moon

Hypacrosaurus sculpted by Shane Foulkes, built and painted this one myself, yep , yep, yep! lol I have to say Shane's kits are super nicely done and ridiculously easy to build ( that said I haven't built a resin kit in around 5-6 years so be gentle!) . This big girl should satisfy anyone's desire ( or fuel the fire) for big hadrosaurs in their collections.  These prehistoric cows/moose, ect,..just don't get nearly enough love. Very happy to have this one!

I'll get some pics outside eventually. ;)

Nice buildup job, looks great!
