Good think I don't have a brown T.rex yet.

The colour scheme on the Oviraptor is nice, but I still want nothing to do with that toy. And why rerelease the brown Rex in a gift set?

Well, it's one of those things Schleich does like all the time. I've seen sets that included 1 Exclusive and 2 or 3 regular figures from them.

The Ovi seems to be Cassowary-inspired, with a little bit of Blue from JW.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Concavenator

I dislike the Oviraptor's coloration,it does not look natural at all.I think they should've painted it like the very first promo picture of this model instead. The creamy-red striped one, remember?

The Papo Oviraptor doesn't look natural in the first place.  After seeing David Silva's work for Beasts of the Mesozoic, I can see more clearly than ever how absurd featherless pennaraptorans are.

The colour scheme it had in the first promo pic can be seen here: http://www.ikessauro.com/2009/10/oviraptor-papo-seria-o-novo-dino-da.html
I think it was based on this Oviraptor by Julius Csotonyi:

I like the oviraptor as a historical art piece. A retro throwback, if you will. If anyone is picking that set up, and doesn't want the oviraptor, let me know.

It doesn't look like you'll be able to! This is a shop exclusive by the looks of it, like the T.rex and Velociraptor rainbow variant set.

So I'm guessing its gonna be for a limited time only???

Mastermind Toys up here in Ontario ended up selling the Rainbow Rex and Raptor separately, so maybe this new Oviraptor will show up by itself as well.

Wonderland models in Edinburgh below the castle? That's a great shop little bit of everything in there! I have got stuff for my kids from them and always try to visit when I am in town!

Lol...I wish! I always visit Wonderland models when I am in Edinburgh it's a lovely old style shop that's been operating for decades and they have a huge stock of all sorts of modelling supplies! I would also recommend Harburn Hobbies on Elm row / Leith Road on the other side of town though they specialise in model railways, another hobby of mine! 😀

So did Dan's Dinosaurs and Happy Hen Toys in the US.

I like the new oviraptor because the colour scheme seems to be original. I don't like my figures to be slavish copies of characters from films, unless they actually are licensed characters from that film. Just one of my collecting quirks.

If I recall correctly, the original paint is the Dinosaur oviraptor.

Flaffy

Well IMO, a generic green body and a generic red crest for oviraptor is pretty common, I would blame the colour scheme on Paps not wanting to take risks back in the day.

Roselaar

Oh dear lord, not another exclusive with another T-Rex, not even repainted... I want that Oviraptor, but I need to do without the Rex for space issues.

Halichoeres

Neither of these is really up my alley, but I sympathize with you who just want the Oviraptor. Seems like the least they could have done is box it with the rainbow rex.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.
