Keiko the orca, by the way, was skinny and diseased until the movie got him a home at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It's possible his earlier health problems made him vulnerable to his eventual pneumonia

Anyone know where I could get a poster of Rudolf Zallinger's Age of Mammals mural?

In the mid fifties Zallinger was asked to assist Time/Life magazine, in illustrating or assisting with I believe an eleven issue arc, they titled with something like Life on Earth. It was this juncture in his career he painted the mammal mural to compliment the issue in the arc that is directed towards mammals.  If you can get the issues, you can get many of his murals. The Age of Reptiles for instance was printed in the issue with dinosaurs on their cover. There is an issue directly related to mammals as well. They come up for sale often on ebay for anywhere from five to ten dollars an issue, and you could easily acquire one, and crop the appropriate mural for your needs.
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

I think they sell them at the Yale Peabody Museum's gift shop and website. http://peabody.yale.edu/store/products/age-reptiles-age-mammals

Unfortuntely they only deliver to the US.

I had a strange dream. It was one of those setting with all kinds of prehistoric animals together ( Saw a Caveman sliding down a Sauropod Fred Flinstone Style, and then being eaten by a pot-bellied T-Rex ) and I was a Troodon, who was the personal assistant of a Charonosaurus. Jet-black and with red eyes, a lot of the other Hadrosaurs seemed to fear her. Probably also because there was a Maiasaura spreading all kinds of rumours about her being a monster. Was also singing a song about me: "Sickleclaw, Sickleclaw, comes to steal small children! A feathered Body, jagged Fangs, sharp Claws!"
A Protoceratops and an Ouranosaurus  informed us that that Maiasaura means trouble. Even her own "Partner", an Anatosuchus, would suffer under her. Interestingly enough, most of the Hadrosaurs seemd to be paired with Partners. Saw a Hadrosaurus partnered with Brontomerus, Corythosaurus with Euoplocephalus, a Saurolophus with Stegosaurus ( those two kinda looked like Ducky and Spike ), a Tsinatosaurus with a Baby Tarbosaurus, even a Trachodon and a Brontosaurus, straight out of Knight painting.
Sadly, the last thing I saw before waking up was that someone throw a giant lemur at me.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Really need to upload pictures of my collections. I hate procrastinating like this - and the lack of a half decent camera in the house doesn't help. Just hoping that actually typing all this out for all to see will give me the incentive I need. Got a day off work tomorrow so hopefully something can come of it.

Something I need to do aswell at some point.
But currently I don't have time for it.

I didn't see it anywhere else in the forum yet, but today is the 20th anniversary of the original release of Jurassic Park. Although misleading at times, such as the non-feathered raptors and motion-vision tyrannosaurus, this is my favourite movie, period. It is what influenced me to become more interested in dinosaurs, and I'm sure I'm not the only one it has effected.  *orthocone*

Wow, doesn't seem at all long ago I was thinking 'I can't believe that film was 10 YEARS AGO !". I feel old.

For any UK folks, there is a program on QUEST at the moment called Toy Hunter, and this episode features Jurassic Park figures. It's repeated at 9 on QUEST+1 for anyone interested.

I got to spend four hours teaching kids about dinosaurs today! :D
Decided to put my nerdiness to good use and invite a local afterschool (this time of year I guess it's an insteadofschool) program to visit the library for a dino themed readaloud, art session, and lecture, followed by a fossil dig using Safari toob skulls.
I think the kids had a good time, hopefully they learned something as well.

I'd have loved to be able to do something like that when I was a kid.

Oh, I'd like to see this. Do you know if it is available online anywhere? I wonder if any dinotoyforum members are featured? I seem to recall someone approaching the DTF about a documentary a while back, maybe even on version1, although I can't recall the details, or which members responded.

The episode itself wasn't what it was made out to be on my TV guide, a bit of a disappointment really but I just did a quick search on YouTube and found the good bits from the episode for you.

The rest of the episode was about unrelated toys.

I'd certainly like to see a more in depth programme about dino toy collectors / collections. It'd be very specialist subject viewing for sure but no more than a lot of the shows and channels you get on Sky TV so why not?

I saw it, but it wasn't all that impressive. The JP toys are only featured for about 40 or so seconds, at most. They don't go into great detail about them or anything like that. I only remember them opening a box and telling the audience that they were JP prototypes and probably worth a good amount of money.

EDIT: I guess I probably caught the episode halfway through

FUTABA

You were probably right the first time. I wasn't impressed with the episode.

I was watching Ringu, and early in the film I spotted these dinosaur toys in the kid's bedroom:

Looks like an Imperial Tyrannosaurus, and a Tsukuda Brontosaurus.

:D Wow, Max Salas has joined the forum!

....... or is it just someone using his name?
