Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

WOW, bravo Collecta on that unique and amazing collection of minis! That is an absolute must-have! And I maaaaay end up breaking my to-scale preference for the Uintatherium and Dimorphodon!

Faelrin

I do like that new set of critters. Lots of funky looking ones there. If I can pick that set up on ebay next year I will (since I'm in the US and they aren't available here if I heard right?) I like the new ceratopsians as well, but I think I want to wait and see for the BoTM versions of them first. I'm glad Regaliceratops was a chosen species though. I quite like that one and the Styracosaurus.

I read on STS that there will be less wild animal models next year as well, possibly due to the Reeves buyout. Apparently Reeves wants to focus more on horses and domestic animals. :(

I still think it's too early to say whether or not Reeves spells the end of CollectA prehistoric figures.

That would be terrible, although foreseeable by Reeves since that company is based on domestic animals and for them the extinct animals and the prehistoric ones do not mean much for that company in the field of benefits.

:D Wow! The sealife toob looks wonderful.
I wasn't expecting something like this from CollectA.
Great choice of species. It's good thet they're not just copying theit larger figures.

Now that CollectA has been acquired by Reeves I expect that their products will be easier to get in the US. In the meantime, most are available at dejankins.com.

You could also look at it as Reeves broadening their offerings by just carrying CollectAs wares.   CollectA on the other hand can be getting another way to distribute it's products.  win/win

I just checked out that site. Pretty good prices compared to what I'd probably be paying on ebay. I'll have to keep tabs on it for when the new stuff is available. Maybe pick up some older stuff along the way (like that Monanthesia figure if its still available).

The Dimorphodon is a great addition to the Guidraco. I like the coloring on the head. It looks more natural than the Guidraco.

I wasn't expecting the Uintatherium, but I'm glad that CollectA made one. It is one of the more sought after obscure prehistoric mammal species.  This one is so full of character.  Reminds me of the Moropus...kinda.

amargasaurus cazaui

With the recent change at Collecta and the new release of ceratopsians, at least the "manes" they insist on using should make better sense now.....for me this year I will be looking to acquire the Dimorphodon, as I love this idea they have of making these larger Pterosaurs.  Yay! ! I may also acquire the basilosaurus , Excaliborosaurus, and Kronosaurus as well. I was encouraged that Doctor Admin seems to like the Kronosaurus....have you given your thooughts on the other two Adam?

I agree its too early yet to say whats gonna happen. I really cant understand why they'd want to refocus Collecta to only domestic animal figures when they already have Breyer selling horses. I can understand maybe just reducing the number of yearly releases for the more exotic extant and extinct animals, it would suck but it'd be better than them just eliminating them entirely.

Bucklander

Let's all hope and pray that this 2017 release is not Collecta's swansong.

Dilopho

Wait, what? What is Reeves? What's going on with Collecta?

BTW Bullyland and Mojo from what I've seen have been thrown out of the towel.
For Bullyland it is more profitable to make comic figures and movies Disney and Mojo ... it is not going well economically, and its products are not even sold online.

On the other hand Rebor has paralyzed by what I see all his figures. In this case, as the saying goes: "he who sows, gathers". They are digging their graves for their insults and disrespect to users.

Focusing on the subject with respect to the future of Collecta I understand that with Reeves unfortunately will not be the same as until now. It is not good news that this company has taken Collecta and I do not say more for me.

Many of the dinosaur companies I see with very bad future, but in case of Collecta is an injustice.

As far as I know, the only figure that's slipped from the intended release so far is the Deinonychus trio.  Maybe Bony Bonnie, but haven't been following that.  I think Rebor's still doing fine.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

*sigh* Bullyland produced such amazing figures back in the day, especially their Triassic figures... Hopefully Reeves wouldn't constraint CollectA to produce more widely known creatures instead of the more obscure species CollectA usually tackles.

Has anyone tried contacting Reeves to see if they say anything about it? Or at least let them know how important having exotic species(The only thing that sets CollectA apart from other companies, besides daringness) in the line is? That is, if they do decide to make popular species. The second question is hypothetical.
I am the Dinosaur King!

Dilopho

I''ve not got high hopes with this. Look what they did with Breyer. From this...to that.

Dilopho

Not to mention they seem to know nothing about prehistory. This guy is labelled as a Triceratops on their website.

Flaffy

Please CollectA... Don't go down the bullyland route...

From my perspective (as a Product Manager in Scientific Products company), it would be reasonable to assume Reeves bought Collecta for specific business reasons. It could be a simple bolt-on to supplement their current portfolio and no dramatic changes may be forthcoming. Alternately, they may want to leverage various aspects of collecta for their own needs and big changes are coming. Or it could be somewhere in the middle...

Does anyone know what the financial state of Collecta was prior to the announcement? Essentially, how profitable, earnings, EBITA, debt, etc? Was Reeves an angel investor? Was Collecta being shopped around to others? Etc...
