It was me who broght it up.   But it was mostly the colors that made me make the comparison.     And everyone said i was full of it.    Well now you found an image that may or may not prove them wrong into thinking that That show had SOME influence on the creation of that model.

I think you were right Takama, it's safe to assume that Papo's sculptor took inspiration from Dinosaur Revolution. First cause he picked the Cryolophosaurus, which isn't that common as a choice for toy companies, and second cause that frame shows basically the same pose of the Papo model. Definitely not a coincidence.

Concavenator

Haven't any of you noticed that the Papo Cryolophosaurus has exactly the same color scheme and appearance as the Sideshow Ceratosaurus?

Shonisaurus

From my point of view it is a great figure and that was highly criticized for what I respect in the beginning. But without a doubt remains the acrocanthosaurus the preferred dinosaur of Papo this year by far.

But the cryolophosaurus Papo is nice.  8)

Shonisaurus

By the way I researched and the cryolophaurus Papo is already available in the german shop http://shop.modellpferdeversand.de

Cryolophosaurus review. Astounding model, nothing else to say. This year for me it's a tie between Collecta's ceratopsians and Papo's theropods.

Not sure how many dtf members can speak German.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

Thanks for the video Reptilia is a great figure the cryolophosaurus. Very nice.  :)

Ah, sorry! I don't speak german myself but I rarely care for what reviewers say, just watch the videos to focus on the figure and see it from different angles, or compared with other models. At the moment the Cryolophosaurus has been released only in Germany, but I guess we will soon have english reviewers covering it too.

Anyone already owning all three models can tell if Papo actually made them in scale?

Shonisaurus

Although I know that for many members of the forum (perhaps most) scale is important, for me that aspect does not worry me. I prefer well-made models without being to scale and that are also detailed, than scale models with less detail.

If dinosaurs and prehistoric animals are well made, how important is it to scale?

ceratopsian

Scale isn't so important for me either. I like to know the scale of each model individually but I am not too worried about all my models being on the same scale. I consider the look and quality of each as an individual.

Don't care for scale too, but I've seen a video which shows all three together and I got the impression that they could actually be roughly in scale one with each other. Just curious.

Dobber

I'm still waiting for the ceratosaurus to be available here in the U.S.  :(

Maybe this will give you an idea?

I was referring to the following video, at 01:30 and 04:22 marks you can see the three of them together. To me they look in scale, but of course I can't tell for sure cause I only have the Acrocanthosaurus at the moment. Maybe the Cryolophosaurus is slightly bigger than it should be?

As a companion to the other two, I agree.

But then again, Papo is like the honey badger.
They don't give a sh*t.  ;D

Shonisaurus

I have sent news from urzeitshop.de and I have been informed that the cryolophosaurus of Papo is already available in their stores, I pass the link to any member of the forum that is interested in that figure and wants to buy it in this store,

Thanks for the info Shonisaurus! I want this one and the Ceratosaurus so badly, I'm afraid that if I wait too long the quality of the paint app might decrease with future production runs.

I care about scale, do not have any of them but for their size i think they are scaled between 1/30, 1/35. Being the ceratosaurus representing  a heavier heavier complexion species (dentisulcatus) or adult, than the one in the image you have put (nasiscornis).
I like those 3 a lot. Beatiful detail!

Old Papo figures are randomly scaled between 1:60 to 1:5.
I have all the new ones but I did not measure them yet.
I suppose they're randomly scaled again...
Papo doesn't care about scale so much.
