GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS---Millie Brown (STRANGER THINGS) is the first cast member announced for the sequel.

Takama

So is this the Official thread for Godzilla 2 (now Dubbed Godzilla King of the Monsters)

Well, let's hope this one spends less time with the human cast and more time with the Kaiju cast. As far as the human cast goes, I woul not mind to have Serizawa and Graham return.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Soopairik

Let's hope this one isn't a flop...

Millie Brown has more acting chops at the age of 12 than most of the cast of Godzilla 2014. So her casting is good news in my book.

Well, children usually survive that kind of movie, don't they?

Very much agreed, she was amazing in Stranger Things. Now let´s hope she isn´t killed after 30 minutes...  >:D

Agreed! I still can't get over that.

It wasn't the lack of monster screen-time that was the movies problem, it was, as already said, that they killed off one of only two interesting characters in the entire film before it really began (and the other only got a few minutes of screen-time).

I must say, an interesting choice of cast to reveal first, and I can't think of anyone better for the role everyone is hoping will appear.

Silvanusaurus

Who is she? The tiny Mothra twins?
I'd also say the problem with the first film wasn't the ratio of time with humans/godzilla, it was that the human characters who were at the core of the film were lifeless, so it was just an experience of waiting for the Godzilla bits throughout. If the human story had been really engaging then the Godzilla scenes wouldnt have felt as sparse. I get why the whole 'heroic' Godzilla thing is appealing and fun as a tribute to the Showa films, but I'd really prefer it if they paid more attention to his titanic horror as a morality-free force of nature, I mean, even in the 2014 film you have to assume he killed thousands and thousands of people, and his very presence would instil earth-shattering terror in most peoples minds, but that wasnt dwelt upon at all. I like Godzilla best when I route for him and cheer him on in spite of the fact that he's a heartless destructive beast. I assume thats not the tone they'll be going for in this series, but maybe next time it's rebooted...

Maybe.. in addition to the fairies, kids can also speak to Mothra, she seems to favor children.  So she could be a telepath?

I thought his backstory and "feel" was done well...for the 2014 film whether you view Godzilla as a hero or menace is subjective, I mean the media in the film universe asked it with a question.  Who knows.  I like cheering him on myself,  it's similar to the hulk, yeah he's destructive, but what he's fighting is usually so much worse. The lesser of two evils as it were.  I didn't get a sense he really cared about what he was doing, just like always Godzilla defends his turf from other dogs, we're just the ants he's stopping the others from peeing on..of that doesn't mean we won't get wet.  ;)

I do agree I had no interest in the people really aside from Brian Cranston and a bit of Serizawa.

Yes, I agree with what you're saying, and I enjoyed the depiction of Godzilla in the film immensely, but he was simply destroying what got in his way so he could stop the Mutos, rather than his 'purpose' being destructive in itself, like it was in 1954 and so on, and the use of music and the reactions of the characters heavily suggested that he was a heroic figure. Which is fine, but overall that takes away a lot of his menace for me.

I think we should make a thread to cover Monsterverse (Godzilla-Kong Universe)

Loon

Maybe she is King Ghidorah? I don't know, stranger things have happened.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND reportedly has a post-credit scene which will set up the GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS sequel. Also, the credits for KONG include, "'Godzilla,' 'King Ghidorah,' 'Mothra' and 'Rodan' created and owned by Toho Co., Ltd" which indicates the post-credit scene includes Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan.

Derek.McManus

Gosh how exciting do you think they already have confirmed the creature designs and modelled for those characters already?

I hope Mothra has her twin fairies sing to her as she battles. That is what makes her awesome.  Lol I wonder if Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Kong will all fight King Ghidorah. He almost always the big bad. Now all they need to do is get the rights to Gamera and have him first fight Godzilla then team up to fight King Ghidorah.  That would be super awesome.

Probably Eleven character (Millie Bobby Brown) will be Mothra Guardian
