@HD-man, you are right. It was a little unfair of me to judge a film by its trailer. I will be the first to see it when it comes out next year, but since I basically grew with Jurassic Park, I have very high expectations of Jurassic World. From the naive heart of the 8 year old me comes the hope that it will not be bad and I will get to relive the best moment of my childhood.

The trailer is very short, but it gives a glimpse at the general idea behind the film. Some parts of it - like Chris Pratt commanding a pack of raptors - I find very unconvincing, but that is just my subjective opinion.

As for modern animals, you are right. Dinosaurs in Jurassic World have no reason to be afraid of people.

I see the pack of Velociraptors as one of those things that could go either way depending on how it's executed. JP3 already gave a lot of depth to the raptors as something more than cold killers - perhaps JW will expand on that idea. And the motorcycle clip is pretty exciting to see for anyone familiar with the TLW novel.

Everything I saw in that trailer tells me I will absolutely loathe this film.

First off in regards to feeding the Mosa a Great White, if they can clone dinosaurs they probably have a whole stock tank of chemically treated and parasite free Great Whites.  It wasn't even alive so they killed it first before just letting it be torn apart and you don't want it hurting your star..these animals are likely pampered as much as they are being exploited.

If you've spoiled yourself you know the D-Rex doesn't scale it's walls..it has another unique ability they don't know about..and like Pratt's character said " you decided to just make up a new dinosaur? Not the smartest idea. " I mean that is the essence of the JP theme, messing around with nature , a power beyond your control and thinking you have it under control leads to disaster.

CGI could be tweaked by release Thursday..it certainly could by the release date in June.

Anything odd about the animal's behavior ( putting up with humans running all around them and even letting them ride them) could be attributed to the genetic tampering.  Anyone who has read the novels knows Dr.Wu's plans included temperament adjustments among other things.

Lack of feathers I'm certain will be addressed unless in the JP-verse dinosaurs just don't have them.

The trained Raptors I think will be more like Jane Goodall's work with primates, he'll learn to "talk" with them. They each have unique coloration and patterns making me think they will also each have their own character.  Now that's not to see we won't see vicious wild raptors in the film..we've no idea what all lives in the restricted zone.

LIkes of the film:
Legendary is animating. :D
Raptors seem to be some kind of trained animal, which is sooo useful for defense (at least in JP verse)
They have water creatures, which, bonus, the mosasaur has that extra set of teeth, accurate
New characters, clean slate.
Epic technology

Dislikes: THe ' kill anything that moves'. Hey look, it has original rex DNA!

There will probably be more dislikes, for now. Good luck universal! ;D

Also, I found this. Is it possible that the 'mystery beast' is a spinosaur?

I haven't seen the first picture before. The second one is obviously fan made - the dinosaur pictured is the Sideshow Allosaurus (one of them at least).

Could you PM me some info about that? I haven't been paying attention at all, and that (along with the "it will kill anything that moves" line) are the two major problems I have with the trailer.

Although I am optimistic about the movie and enjoyed the trailer, I do agree that the "it kills anything that moves" line was pretty cheesy.

What a giant mosasaurus, first i think its a tylosaurus but they said its a mosasaurus. Plus, tame raptor (running together beside the man who rode motorcycle) ? Cant wait for the movie i really enjoy the trailer, also i cant wait for the unleash of hybrid dinosaur  :) amazing

Oh, well.

Dinosaur lovers have a while to wait, so let's not get to exited! ;)

Just saw the trailer. I haven't been very excited about this film since learning about the D-Rex, but now that I've seen the trailer, I'm definitely more hopeful about it! I think what did it for me was the original theme music playing in the background, as well as all the references I caught. (The JP theme is now my phone's ringtone, by the way.) Also, the "good" velociraptors remind me a bit of the similarly tame velociraptor character I made up after seeing JPIII at the approximate age of 9 (except my character had feathers and was Dr. Grant's pet).

Unless it was designed to be extremely vicious for some reason..maybe more so than any other dino?  They do have an "arena" of some sort on the island..perhaps it was meant to be a gladiator of sorts?

Both images above are fan made. The best pic of the D-Rex we have so far is the Lego toy...sort of white/grey and Carchardontosaur-like.

Spinosaurs are on the island, just not Spinosaurus ( probably too dangerous) but Baryonyx and Suchomimus are on the brochure.

I'll just post the detail here as I think it has been mentioned..if not :spoilers: !

The D-Rex can camouflage itself. So it could easily slip out of the pen..especially if the keepers were unaware it could do it.  Like the scene from the trailer where they are in it's pen wondering if it jumped over the walls...

QuoteI can't believe that this is the "reboot" of Jurassic Park.
It's not a reboot. It follows the continuity set by the previous three films. It's a sequel.

Dinomike

Hmm...I like the idea of the park finally being open and full of dinosaur food..I mean tourists.  However, the CGI looks a bit too polished and excessive.  What I liked about the first film was the simple, realistic and believable world. The park was based on technology we have today, and by this I mean the vehicles,  buildings etc. No magical people carrying bubbles to distract from the actual wonder: the dinosaurs! Of course I do understand the film might be happening in the near future but still - just because we can use CGI doesn't mean absolutely everything has to be CGI. The film looks like it's taking place in some Avatar universe, not on Earth.  Oh well, I'm still going to see it.

Practical effects tend to only be used in close ups, and CGI is used everywhere else. Trevorrrow has stated that he is a fan of traditional make up effects, and will be using them for the film. Honestly it's just too early to say that there is too much CGI being used, when we've barely seen the dinosaurs yet.

CGI for the trailer makes a lot of sense.  We will certainly have practical effects as this restrained Velociraptor shows :

The Gyrosphere is a theoretical mobile conveyance device that is based in science from what I can find online. Doesn't look like a working one has been built as it would be VERY costly. But for the film it works well I think. Allows you to get up close while being totally safe...well until something unaccounted for finds you.

amargasaurus cazaui

The Diablo rex is a combination of Tyrannosaur, snake and cuttlefish. Cuttlefish can disguise themselves to blend into their background easily. The dinosaur will obviously carry many adaptions to utilize the various types it is made from.......for instance the snake, might bring with it an expandable jaw...or perhaps a venomous bite...etc.
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

There is supposed to be some Velociraptor in there as well.
