Blade-of-the-Moon

Clearly they've never had an Alan Grant/ Brachiosaur moment.  They could sell it at the same size/price point as the Mosasaur/Colossal Rex and people would buy it.  If they really want it to sell, show one rampaging and kicking tail in the film.     I do think they messed up by cutting back on the Colossal Rex already, thinking it was too expensive they ditched the real feel and  I think made it more slender.  This line is looking to be HUGE it would have totally sold.

Well, if they keep the scale consistent a sauropod would end up being as big as the old Dino Riders Brontosaurus and Diplodocus!

And will there be a big Spinosaurus in the Legacy line?

The Jurassic World facts app has confirmed a Spinosaurus toy and it is very likely it will be a part of the Legacy collection, although not confirmed, but it is the most logical choice:

I have been thinking how big Sauropods would be in a JP toy line. So I decided to do this really bad and simple "concept art", brown is Brachiosaurus, blue is Apatosaurus:

What do you guys think? In my opinion, their size is not too big but big enough. Brachiosaurus would be no longer that the Thrash n´thow T.rex thanks to its vertical neck and Apatosaurus has a curve in the tail to make it sorter. To fit them in the boxes, the tails would be removable, although Brachiosaurus neck would still give problems...

Flaffy

Maybe having it in a big closed box would do, and if they really want to showcase the figure they could add a clear plastic window or something.
The tail, or at least a portion of it could either be bendy wire, or floppy rubber so it can curl up and fit inside the box. (also for posing purposes.

The neck could be separated into a few pieces, with ball joints on each of them for assembly and possibility.

Such a shame Universal shot down the idea for massive sauropods, Mattel clearly has an interest in making them. Hopefully one day...

To answer your question, no, that's not "too big".  There are several non-JP toys in the near that size range.

I don't think size really is the reason why there are no (non-mini) sauropods in the JW line.  I'm looking at other toylines - take Transformers in particular - and they seem to be able to sell the big toys ( the "Titan" class city transformers sold quite well, and they were big).

I have no data, but I'm inclined to think they can produce big sauropod toys for the line, but still think that only the predators (and dangerous herbivores?) would sell. Do we really think there'd be a big demand from children in the 8-10 age range for a big sauropod if they can get a T. Rex instead?

I agree. I think plenty of kids would want them for the same reasons collectors want them.....they're HUGE!

Faelrin

I'd really love if they did a Real Feel Skin Apatosaurus like they did with the Mosasaurus. If they can clearly do a 3ft long T. rex then there's no reason they couldn't have done an Apatosaurus (even if it was a young adult/juvenile) near the size of the Thrash and Throw T. rex. I suppose I could understand why no larger Brachiosaurus, but either way the lack of sauropods is disappointing. Maybe one day they will eventually make an Apatosaurus, especially since it was one of the more prominent herbivores in Jurassic World.

THORRIDUS89

I know this line is supposed to be in scale but has the triceratops always been smaller than the stegosaurus in Jurassic Park/World?

Yup, it's a weird quirk of the JP Stegosaurus being four times bigger than the real thing.

Blade-of-the-Moon

cool packaging.

Grant and Muldoon sorta look like the same base figure here.

Love the Pachy and little Rex.

Flaffy

I assume in the US where they're Target exclusive, the Legacy Line will feature the package design as seen below.
And if they manage to make their way around the world (which it should), it'll feature the regular packaging along with the rest of the regular line.

Here is a size comparison for the Extreme Chomping Legacy Rex. Also coming in at 24.99 USD.

24.99 is a steal for that figure. It's a beautiful sculpt, don't get me wrong, but I wish for this collector's series, Mattel would finally create a movie accurate paint scheme. Is it maybe too dull for a toy?

Flaffy

$25 only? Not bad Mattel, not bad at all  ^-^
Wish they gave it a better paint scheme though, or at least a different one from the Thrash and Throw.

The Allosaurus bugs me a lot, the teeth and mouth just look goofy as heck. It's as if the sculptor was wearing blurry glasses when they were sculpting the poor thing.

MLMjp

The fact that the Extreme Chompin´T.rex is being released both in the exclusive legacy collection and in the regular line in Mexico line gives me hope that the legacy collection will reach non USA territories as a regular release. I hope so.

I need that Pachycephalosaurus and that Baby T.rex. And I guess I will have to buy the humans also if I want to have some Compys.

I still prefer the medical center Allosaurus figure and David's blue one is a close second.  Mattel's is still better than Hasbro's though..gotta look at the cup half full and shaking. ;)

Faelrin

I've seen other images of this Extreme Chomping T. rex on the Jurassic Park Collection FB page, and there's pics of it with a good number of figures (mostly the Roarivores, and the Stegosaurus and Carnotaurus), as well as a comparison pic between it and the Hasbro Chomping T. rex. It's about the same size or a little bigger then the Carnotaurus, and a little bigger then the Hasbro Chomping T. rex. So not in scale like the Thrash and Throw really, unless as a sub adult maybe. If I'm hard pressed for space after getting some of the others (I probably will be), then I might lean towards this instead of the Thrash and Throw for my display. I still want the Thrash and Throw but I might have to keep it elsewhere in my room if I go with it (same goes for the Mosasaurus come to think of it).

I might be planning to pick up the Grant and Muldoon, if partly because of the compies included. I'm so glad they are going to have figures of them, since they are back in Fallen Kingdom. Also because at this point they have (or will have) nearly made every genus in the franchise (except the sauropods, and Parasaurolophus, and maybe a few others).

I've been kind of contemplating on the Mattel Allosaurus only because the Dino Showdown one is so hard to get these days, and it has film accurate colors (maybe?), aside from it being an Allosaurus, which is one of my favorite theropod dinosaurs. On the other hand, the goofy over sized teeth and shrink wrapped rat like tail don't appeal to me. It's weird because their Carnotaurus and Baryonyx are pretty much on point.

@Blade-of-the-moon David Silva only sculpted the Pachyrhinosaurus for the Dino Showdown line. I remember asking him about that long ago in one of the kickstarter updates. Hunting down one of my old comments in the kickstarter update number 31, his response said that Dave Proctor sculpted it. Sara Richard (who did the BotM Fan's Choice package artwork) sculpted the unreleased Stegosaurus and Carnotaurus for that line.

Syndicate Bias

i see the toys look better than last time. kinda sad when the first JW toys looked like they were made before the original 3 JP toys which had better manufacturing and detail

Flaffy

sigh I would really love to track down a Showdown Allosaurus for a reasonable price, as long as it's got a functioning Allosaurus + battle damage cover then I'm good.

Little old me spotted a showdown allosaurus and pachyrhino both MIB when JW released, guess the local toy shops were clearing out old stock. But the sad thing is I only decided to purchase the pachyrhino for some reason... and I highly suspect the Allo is gone by now.  :'(
