JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION

Yeah, I agree. I think Jurassic World can only work with a big bad hybrid as the main villain, and even if they had gone with an albino Carcharodontosaur then they'd still have to have an excuse of them beefing it up with Hollywood science. Which is worse, a completely fictional species or people that didn't pay close enough attention thinking Giganotosaurus could actually camouflage? Personally, I think they didn't go far enough, I wanted Ultimasaurus damn it!

I can't wait to see what it looks like. Safe bet would be they use the old skull reconstruction, but I would be pleasantly surprised if they go the new skull route. Personally I hope they draw some inspiration for the color scheme from the old Playstation Lost World game's design of it. I'm also wondering if they are going to oversize it. Hopefully nothing as absurd as it is in Ark though.

Honestly though I'm more excited to see what Mattel does with this one. I mean I was hoping they would do one anyways, partly because of it being such a popular dinosaur, and partly also from being in the I. rex (and hopefully its relatives Acrocanthosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus as well), but this is a good excuse for them to do one I guess, lol.

Edit: Carcharodontosaurus seems to be getting a figure at least. Hope to see Acrocanthosaurus next year then, other then the Giganotosaurus obviously. Would love it with JPOG's color scheme too (which introduced me to it) if not something from Warpath.

Yeah, that is definitely the most exciting part about the reveal.

Well assuming the final design could look something like this stickers, then it's big and green. Not really that surprising. But they tried to feather it? That's very surprising. And I really hope that's not what happens in the end.

It's surprising that this interview hasn't already been posted here given 1) how old it is, & 2) how good/relevant it is (especially the 2nd half): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1femKpzeIY&t=1s

I believe it was this review where the person being interviewed states that lots of dinosaur related projects have been shut down by Universal, which is honestly kinda sad.

Universal like Disney and everyone else is tightening their belts now, taking losses. I'm it isnt just dinosaur related projects getting put on hold.

As someone who supports the Jurassic films this actually makes me very furious. I do not want my only exposure for big budget dinosaur film to be the Jurassic films and I can only imagine how everybody else who doesn't like them would feel. I get protecting the designs of the dinosaurs made for those films which shouldn't be a major worry since anyone come with different dinosaur designs for various media, but this is insane I want to see a proper Walking with Dinosaurs film, a Land Before Time reboot in the style of the original, a Primeval film, a Lost World adaption, Dominion Dinosaurs vs Aliens, a proper Land of the Lost, and Disney Dinosaur sequel or reboot and countless other possibilities. I'm sorry but if I'm limited to just Jurassic films and they are actively preventing what could be better dinosaur films made others then my enthusiasm for this film is just shot.

What he actually said, is that other studios don't pursue dinosaur related projects due to the belief that dinosaurs are synonymous with Jurassic Park in the mainstream. Timestamp is 25:30.

Well that makes my feel slightly better thanks for clarification because I was very furious. I still hate the idea of dinosaurs being limited to the Jurassic films but it's just reality I guess.

Giganotosaurus

Legendary didn't put dinosaurs in Skull Island so that the Jurassic World films would feel more special.

Anyway, I love all the Jurassic films, I hope we finally see the return of the Dilophosaurus and Ceratosaurus in the next one!

JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION---Colin Trevorrow commented on DOMINION, "To me, [DOMINION] is a culmination of one story that's been told. When you got to the end of the JURASSIC PARK trilogy, it may not have been as clear in what the complete story of those three movies was because they were a bit more episodic in the way that they were approached. But this trilogy is not that way. It's very much a serialized story. What was important for me was, when you watch DOMINION, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that first set of movies was and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this. If kids who are born today are going to be presented with six JURASSIC PARK movies — you hope the parents will buy them the box set — you hope they are going to get to feel like they watch one long story."
He also talked about the animated JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS, "It's important to me, out of respect for the writers who are continuing to expand and create, to recognize [CAMP CREATACEOUS] as clearly its own story and its own show. But this season — and if we're granted further opportunities to tell the story that we have [in Season 3] — will keep weaving in to the larger story and really inform some things, even in DOMINION that will connect to discoveries made that I'm really excited about."

Giganotosaurus

I bet (and hope) JP7 or JP8 will have the Carcharodontosaurus as the big baddie, seems to be the way to go in the future.
Although the hard to pronounce name may not be too marketable, perhaps they could nickname it, like Carcha.

That would be nice, love the art style, but  I think those wanting a post apocalyptic look will be disappointed. Dinosaurs will be everywhere but will need protection from us not the other way around for the most part. Places like Yellowstone park or the Great Smoky Mountains will be home to more than just deer and bears.  The conflict will be when people venture into these areas or clone more outside of them and things go wrong.  Just my gut feeling on how this plays out realistically.  Unless some dinosaur transmitted virus infects and wipes out most of humanity.

I know we all want to wipe out humanity, but I don't think that will happen.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

sadly no...but there is a basis for it. The DX disease from TLW was supposed to play a much larger role in the film but it was dropped.
