This was what I was waiting to see since 2016. I cannot wait to have my hands on the Protoceratops (and the others as well).

You should review it for the blog given that you also own the Velociraptor.

Here's the fighting photos!

I was originally gonna display the Ceratopsians separately from the Raptors but maaaan I think I'm gonna put at least the Proto and Psitta with the raptors, they look so good together! ;D

suspsy

It really is a pity we're not getting at least one more small ceratopsian. A Leptoceratops would go well with the Acheroraptor.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy I'd certainly love to. I also own the Mattel ones, which no doubt could possibly serve as a useful comparison perhaps. This will be a long wait, but I'll get through it as I did before with the raptors.

I also agree that it would have been nice if there were more, but I suppose we will have to do with what there is (perhaps such as the juvenile Triceratops standing in for an even younger Triceratops, to be paired with the Acheroraptor, although the stage of ontogeny would be off to some extant, of course). At least the Microraptor from the forest pack can be paired with the Psittacosaurus, like the Protoceratops with this Velociraptor. And despite being out of scale, the rest will still be fun to pose and pair (at least for me anyways. I've been dreaming of having a Styracosaurus to go with my Dromaeosaurus set up for nearly as long as well, and it will be quite interesting to make use of the jumping rods with the raptors in a leaping or some other pose with the biggest ceratopsians such as the Pentaceratops and adult Triceratops).

I don't think they should do tyrannosaurs. I think they should do tyreophora and more ceratopsians. If they do a T.rex, it might be as big as the TLW T.rex. It's gonna be huge.

Too bad for you then, because David Silva's already started working on them. He asked on Facebook for input on which species to include a few weeks back. And yes, AFAIK, the Tyrannosaurus rex is projected to be in scale with the Triceratops and the Torosaurus. It would likely upset far more more fans if it wasn't.

Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of Tyrannosaurs in the world but even if I wasn't planning on buying the Tyrannosaurus I'd still hope that it would be made, for the people who do want it.

Sounds like his time working at Hasbro was not at all enjoyable:

QuoteWhen I went to Hasbro a few years later, I decided to pick that dinosaur project up again and I ended up resculpting it all over again. I showed some pictures to a few people to get me to put out a model kit and that ended up leading me to work on the Jurassic Park line for Hasbro. And that was kind of a nightmare...

They hired me to do the work because I knew about dinosaurs and then I was art directed on all the stuff that I knew. They made me change lots of stuff that I didn't agree with. They probably should have gotten someone who doesn't know about dinosaurs, that would have been better.

. . . I was just following the design and everything had to line up exactly. My photographs had to line up exactly to line drawings and there just wasn't really much room for me to make it more realistic. It was like they have their idea of what that dinosaur needed to look like. And the stuff that I knew about dinosaurs didn't really apply at that point. We were basically making a fantasy creature and I really had an issue with that. They had this mentality going into it, this is a Pachyrhinosaurus or this is a Styracosaurus... And it kind of is but not really, and I just wasn't on the same page on them the whole time.

He had mentioned before on his fb page similar thoughts, he wasn't happy with the dinos he made even though they were some of the best Hasbro put out.

Concavenator

Haven't kept up with this thread, but are all the Wave 1 ceratopsians due to be released in September 2020, for all publics (even for people who haven't participated in the kick starters)?

Faelrin

That's the plan so far. And if you didn't back it, he's taking pre-orders now (though do note cards would be charged in a few days, if ordered now):

Faelrin

avatar_indohyus @indohyus I ordered it along with the rest of the first four (Zuniceratops, sub adult Triceratops, and Styracosaurus) when I backed the kickstarter.

Nice! Did consider centrosaurus, but couldn't afford both

Anyone go for the exclusive Monoclonius? Looking forward to that
I went for that plus the three non-Ceratopsids (Protoceratops, Psittacosaurus, Zuniceratops). However I plan to sell or trade the Monoclonius to someone who missed out.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

That was the only one I ordered sad to say. There were just so many to choose from and I recall the wait for the raptors being lengthy, plus I've only opened one of those since I received them ( space issues ).

Wanted the Protoceratops but the color wasn't to my liking.  I may get more of them once they are actually released...idk.

What exclusive Monoclonius are you talking about? Is it a fan choice version or something like that?

I did the same as Faelrin and got it as part of the four pack (Zuni, Styrac, subadult Tri, and Monoclonius.) I also got the Torosaurus and Chasmosaurs. I fully expect to be murdered by my family for getting all of those (Not so much because of cost since the budget is definitely able to support this, but because of storage space. I need to get an additional shelf before more figures arrive), but it will be worth it.

I'm mainly looking to get the figures here that either don't really have a big company representative (Chasmosaurus, Spiclypeus) or don't really have GOOD representatives (Torosaurus, Sinoceratops) so while I will probably wind up dropping a pretty penny on this line, it won't be as bad as it could be.
