I decided to get a second copy of this toy since the tail broke off the one I had as a kid. The leg kicking no longer works on this one. I'm tempted to open it up and see if I can fix it.

I've had some incredible luck(?) today in finding both the Prehistoric Sea Life and Prehistoric Crocodiles Toobs at a Michael's store. Their online store (and google's store product searcher thing) said both of these were in stock (limited) at the store nearest to me. I made the trip out there and managed to get both of these (with the help of a staff member as none were to be found on the shelves/and no shelf space for them, which I suppose is to be expected with them having been discontinued back in 2017). There are a few minor paint issues (sloppy teeth, and some spots, rather chipped paint or misapplied paint, such as on the belly of the Dakosaurus, etc) here and there, such as on the figures in the Prehistoric Crocodiles Toob, other then for whatever odd (and quite disappointing) lack of Euparkeria in what was an otherwise unopened package. I didn't notice it until after opening them up at home (or until after even taking these pictures, after I was trying to figure out what the names of some of the ones in there were), as I was just too excited to finally have these with how tricky these are to find nowadays. Hopefully I can obtain the Euparkeria at some point to complete it, but still what an otherwise great find.

Edit: By the way my dad found (who I shared them with) the Henodus really appealing (he said it "looks so happy", and I have to agree), and that it reminded him of Gamera, the turtle kaiju (that I also adored growing up as well).

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin That is a good find - you'd be flat out trying to find those anywhere else.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Pachyrhinosaurus

Nice find! My local museum used to have loose toob figures in the gift shop that you could fill your own toob with. I tried to buy a couple (since I already had the toob) but they couldn't sell them loose. In retrospect, I should have filled a toob with henodus and nothosaurus.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin that's great that you found those toobs...but why doesn't yours have the Euparkeria? That doesn't make sense.

It's also why Michaels' are tricky stores to buy those at--they are often 'fast run' versions, with lesser paint jobs and, apparently, sometimes fewer figures apparently? Even the toobs have different tops!

Just got the papo dilophosaurus and bullyland lambeosaurus in from EverythingDinosaur. Was worried the papo dilophosaurus would have lost its luster now that it's six years old, but I think mine looks pretty well painted still. Put it next to a knockoff that came to me in a lot of other dinosaur figures years ago for some side by sides. Also, the lambeosaurus is wonderful, love the material.

Faelrin

Thanks folks. It's certainly great to have found these after neglecting my opportunity to get them back in 2017 when I had the chance.

avatar_SBell @SBell I have no idea why it is missing it. My guess is that it was a production mess up? I suppose it isn't a major loss though, as I can probably track a loose one down eventually to complete it (and I certainly have patience).

Isn't awesome to be at the right place at the right time to grab a great deal like this? I am happy I got, not just for the rarity of the toy, which I already have, but because it is in pretty good shape. The one I have is missing a finger from the right hand and that always bugged me. Not enough for me to pay lots of cash for another Battat rex, but annoying enough I didn't feel satisfied with my toy. Now I feel the relief of finally replacing the broken one.

Roselaar

Awesome catch! Bonus Brachio too. :)

ceratopsian

Eocarcharia

Scored this guy today at Target. Only one on the shelf.

mgaguilar

Wow what a striking color scheme! Decent sculpt too!

My order from Minizoo finally made it to me! Very excited to add these collectA figures to the collection. Please forgive the weird focus in these images. New camera, still trying to figure out the settings.

Libraraptor

Yeah, congrats to those Invictas!

It's kind of funny, I wanted to avoid falling into the Invicta hole but here I am, too hard to resist.

Well, you already hunted down the most elusive and expensivest of them aswell as the stand, so a downhill run from here ;)

Faelrin

S @Stolpergeist Congrats on nabbing all of those. It's really fascinating for me to see all those now that I own the mammoth (well since late last year). Really puts into perspective how big those are.

Hm, that's true.
The only extremely hard to find ones I don't have yet are the Lambeosaurus and Dimetrodon but I might wait for those until next year even though there is an opportunity for the latter on eBay right now.
The Megalosaurus and Cetiosaurus interest me.

You'll probably want to grab the Lambeosaurus when you can, it can be tricky to find (depending on price).

The Mamenchisaurus is easily my favorite. I would love to find the painted version someday.

My Mattel Jurassic World Sauropelta came today, so I took some comparison images with the Safari Ltd one. My cat also had a little bit of fun with it, before I even got a chance to get the comparison pics, so I took a fun little video of her with it:

Here's the comparison images though:

So like most of the Mattel figures it suffers from short tail syndrome (which is particularly a shame as the long tail is one of the key characteristics of Sauropelta), and in addition the head seems oversized, and the integument isn't really right, etc. The coloration may or may not be a callback to Borealopelta who was recently confirmed to have a reddish-brown coloration. The action feature is pretty fun on this one though, if one flails it around. It also has articulation at the head, and the neck, which I thought was interesting.
