This just came in the mail: a huge lot that I scored on eBay for a good price. It's mostly Sega Dinosaur King figures, but has some Happinet and Favorite Co. dinos that I'll probably sell, since I'm not really interested in them.

Shonisaurus

I am glad that you have received those dinosaur figures, I honestly like some Sega dinosaurs that you show among other figures. Enjoy them with health!

My midnight ebay impulse buy from the weekend arrived today.  I jumped at the chance when I saw the two Favourite Co. models.  So here's my new ragtag bunch of misfits!

The CollectA Torosaurus had been on my wishlist at one point, but now I see it in person I'm not struck.  Its head looks weirdly distorted.  Given that I'm unable to sell on ebay, it, the CollectA Trike and the basket ball playing Papo Oviraptor will probably go in a charity shop.  Hopefully some kid will find them and love them.

I've always liked the colours on the Carnegie Dimetrodon and am happy to have one in my collection, even if it's a little outdated now.

With his newer Wild Safari counterpart.

The Favourite Co. Triceratops is really well sculpted, if a bit... green.  Part of me itches to mod some accurate toes and give it a more interesting paint scheme, but AFAIK it's quite a rare model, as least in the West, so I may end up passing it onto another collector who'll appreciate it more once I have the means to do this.  In the meantime, I notice it hasn't been reviewed on the DTB yet... ;)

But the gem of the haul is the little Pachycephalosaurus.  It's highly detailed and beautifully sculpted, and photos simply don't do it justice!  I didn't realise just how small it was, but that just increases its appeal for me.  Unlike a lot of people here, I think, I'm actually a fan of smaller figures - possibly related to my lack of space!  Unfortunately, it also has quite a lot of scuffs, so I'm probably going to repaint it - if that isn't too blasphemous on such a hard-to-find figure? :-\

Anyway, that's all for now.  Hopefully more stuff from my end soon...

Great acquisitions avatar_Tyto_Theropod @Tyto_Theropod , the first wave of Favorites has a great texture details right? I have the Ankylosaurus which stands for Euplocephalus in my collection and the scale detail is so nice, similar to your new Trike. If you are going to be keeping the Pachy I dont think repainting is blasphemous, maybe it'll look even better after the makeover! CollectA's Torosaurus is a shame because if it was better executed with that frill it would be an eye catcher in a shelf, I wish that if the reissue it in the future they'll keep the color scheme.

avatar_Tyto_Theropod @Tyto_Theropod Great haul there. I think the Pachycephalosaurus is certainly the newest thing to me here (other then the Triceratops). Wonderful little figure.

Edit: I also got new stuff today. Managed to pick up two of the McDonald's Happy Meal Jurassic World books. For the most part the info in them holds up pretty well, but there are a few minor inaccuracies regarding the Velociraptor and T. rex (but accurate to the films anyways). They also call the Mosasaurus a dinosaur in the Big Dinosaurs one, but eh it is what it is. I'll get some pics tomorrow. Also for anyone curious the Ferocious Dinosaurs ("toy" number 4) one focuses on T. rex, Blue/Velociraptor, and the Baryonyx, and the Big Dinosaurs ("toy" number 3) one features the Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Mosasaurus. So now I want to track down the other two I don't have, and then the wait for the figures themselves to show up. Also yes they do reuse the renders from Fallen Kingdom, mostly.

avatar_Tyto_Theropod @Tyto_Theropod I congratulate you on your new acquisitions. Favorite, Collecta, Papo and Carnegie are among the best brands in the world. I think it's a very good deed if you give a charity store with triceratops and oviraptor. Nice action and nice gesture.

ceratopsian

avatar_Tyto_Theropod @Tyto_Theropod, a good impulse buy. I bought that Torosaurus when I was new to collecting and even then I thought it was a bit disappointing. It sits near the back of my shelf!

The Pachycephalosaurus is charming. Not blasphemous at all to repaint it. It's scuffed - give it some love!

With you all the way on a fondness for small models. My once capacious looking shelves are getting pretty full!  But it's not only that. I genuinely enjoy small detail.

SidB

avatar_Tyto_Theropod @Tyto_Theropod , FYI, Dean at Dejankins stills sells the 2004 Triceratops by Favorite. I got one from him recently at a quite modest price for exactly that purpose - modification. So maybe you should execute your plan ... .

:D :D

This happed to me aswell during nighttime on the Weekend. I Ordered Saturday at around two in the Morning.

Interesting with the Torosaurus. It is (like all Ceratopsians, because i do not have one...) on my List aswell. CollectA always is a Hit or Miss. It is really weird sometimes with CollectA.

Thanks, all, for the feedback.  And thanks to avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian, S @SidB and avatar_Jose S.M. @Jose S.M. for the confidence boost on repainting.

avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian Thanks!  Glad I'm not the only fan of the smaller figures! :)

avatar_Jose S.M. @Jose S.M. I agree with you on Wave 1 Favourite soft models.  I'm hoping to being able to find more of them.  In particular, the Parasaurolophus and 'Ankylosaurus' appeal to me, although I'm not a fan of their lack of cheeks.  I agree with you on the Torosaurus.  I'd love to see CollectA produce an updated figure of this species with the same colour scheme.  I might use its colours as an inspiration for a future Ceratopsian repaint, although I wouldn't copy them exactly.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin The Pachycephalosaurus is even nicer in person.  It's only about 9 cm long but exquisitely detailed and quite accurate, although the Wild Safari (which I am yet to get) probably beats it by a narrow margin in this regard.  Mine sometimes has trouble standing, but I'm not too fussed with that - I like that it's fully bipedal, and you could always give it a base if you found it troublesome in the falling over department.  Definitely worth picking up if you can find it.

avatar_Kapitaenosavrvs @Kapitaenosavrvs Hahaha, I'm sure we can't be the only forum members guilty of late night impulse buying at least once! :))  The Torosaurus isn't a terrible  figure by any means.  It's probably one of the best figures CollectA produced in their earlier years.  The textures are nice, the overall proportions are good despite the inaccurate feet, and the colour scheme, as avatar_Jose S.M. @Jose S.M. mentioned, is gorgeous.  The weirdly shaped head just puts me off liking it, which is a shame really.  You've probably already seen, but in case you haven't there's a review over on the blog that might help you make up your mind on whether it's for you:

Carnoking

A fresh bunch of Battat minis arrived today to add to my ever growing collection. I originally was not interested in these as my energy was directed entirely to tracking down the full sized versions, but as I've nearly gotten all of those (the maiasaura and v2 ceratosaurus continue to haunt me) I decided to turn my attention to these little guys. Only four more of these to go!

Also came across a Papo dimorphodon on Mercari. I had one of these when they first came out but misplaced it right as they became impossible to find. Glad to have one back in the collection, but man did I forget how ugly this thing is.

ceratopsian

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking - the Battat minis look very handsome alongside their counterparts.  Like you, I originally didn't pay them any attention, it was only when I'd got most of the full-size figures I wanted that I bought the minis.

Shonisaurus

I have always been interested in the Battat dinosaur marten and honestly I found the miniatures after a hard search, finally leaving the miniature of tyrannosaurus rex which is the most difficult figure to find in the market and thanks to an Italian eBay seller by winning one auction I got that figure and I can admit that it is the most beloved of my collection. Without a doubt, in my case, I like the large Battat dinosaurs and the minis dinosaurs alike.

It's a shame Battat never made the miniature apatosaurus I guess it would be the most expensive piece on eBay, when it comes to that brand.

Tyto_Theropod

Congrats on the Battat minis, avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking!  They look like lovely models.  The Styracosaurus is particularly nice.  The detail and craftsmanship on Battats never fails to impress me, and the fact that most are still essentially accurate just shows what good quality, well researched models they were.  You must be really pleased with them.

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking I had forgotten, I am a complete mess. Congratulations on your new Battat acquisitions

Faelrin

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking Good job finding all of those. They are definitely beautiful. I may have to have to start hunting for those older Battats at some point. Would love to have the Edmontonia, Maiasaura, Ouranosaurus, etc. I think those are still the best representations out there for those too.

Also in case anyone was interested, and I know these are like a few days late at this point, but here's the Happy Meal books I picked up.

Wow, a genuine Monoclonius - there's something that one  doesn't often see!

Shonisaurus

I'm glad that I bought these vintage figures sincerely Starlux was quite an attractive brand in the 80s, although their production of dinosaurs started in the sixties and I sincerely wish I had their entire collection of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. It was a very beautiful brand at that time and in fact like any vintage figure it has never lost its charm and beauty.
