avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy The concept art of the "Sinoceratops" in the film was revealed. It still resembled the creature we saw in the film, but they were clearly trying to pass it off as a Pachyrhinosaurus for one reason or another (someone obviously didn't do their research). Mattel at least did their research with this genus. It would also explain why there are still some references to it being called a Pachyrhinosaurus (such as the mini figure, Walmart listing, etc). It might explain why the DPG list did not have Sinoceratops on it to start with (although shortly afterwards it did). I have to wonder if they changed the name due to all the fan complaints and speculation on social media that had gone on since the trailer was revealed, which then would have carried over into other marketing aspects (such as the toy's name). Honestly this whole mess probably could have been avoided if whoever designed the creature for the film, just got it right from the get go (not that I'm against Sinoceratops being in the film, or there being a toy of it, etc).

Edit: It's possible there was creative license taken to the extreme too. Upon closer examination of it, it has some features of the Pachyrhinosaurus upon the head, but still has way too much wrong with it (such as the nose horn). It only superficially resembles a Sinoceratops. Whatever the case, it makes the frilled spitting Dilophosaurus seem rather tame in comparison.

In any case though, since the creature in the film has since been renamed, it would be interesting to see their take on something that resembles it more down the road.

Since there's references in the film to Sinoceratops (one of the vials at the end is labelled as such), I feel like the switch from Pachyrhinosaurus happened during production, but not in time for some merchandise to catch up. It'd be interesting to find out why; Jurassic World doesn't care about accuracy at all, so that probably isn't it.

To be honest, there wouldn't be all these identity issues if they made the dinosaurs scientifically up-to-date from the start, and not stylize them.

Well, this whole fandango lead to Sinoceratops (a rather low tier dinosaur that most probably haven't heard of) being in a JP movie, so it all worked out in the end really.

Not sure who the little guy is in the upper right but I like that one the most, just something about the black markings is so appealing to me :)

The pink, blue and white is Coelurus.

Repaints and retools for the most part, the only new mold is Dracorex and also the better looking one. A pity to be honest because of the Pachycepalosaurid trio, Dracorex is the one with less posibilities of being and actual genus....Although now that I think of....since it is orange we could use it as a Stygimoloch juvenile...

Sorry for constantly doing this, just making is so all the images are in one place

Smilodon P.

There are rumors about a supercolossal triceratops. Can anyone confirm this?

Flaffy

The "dracorex" looks pretty good. Would make a nice juvenile pachycephalosaurus, the colours are appealing as well.

The rhamphorhynchus looks a bit goofy with the oversized teeth, but hey, more pterosaurs are welcome.

Never expected Mattel to do something as "generic" as coelurus. Not the prettiest figure, but coelurus could definitely use some exposure. Glad to see it in a major toy line.

All the other repaints are meh. And some are horrid, like the Stegosaurus.

The T.rex that was leaked sometime ago:

And a Super colossal Tyrannosaurus again. A lot of people think that we might get a colossal triceratops because of the image of the Triceratops in the box and the fact that it says "Dino rivals" which will imply that there is going to be another dino to rival the super colossal T.rex, in this case the Triceratops.

Forget the Stegosaurus, that Suchomimus! And some people thought the original neon blue was bad!

stargatedalek

I actually really like that Suchomimus.

As for the Stegosaurus, while it's certainly not an improvement, it's still good enough to justify holding off buying the current one knowing it will be re-released.

MLMjp

I don't understand why the new T.rex has to be Rexy again.

Why they cannot repaint it in GREEN so we can finally have a Male T.rex?

Also, Styracosaurus is going to be dark blue instead of yellow? :o

I know, right! I would have loved for Mattel to have ade a Bull Rex for their legacy line!

The Coelurus really isn't too bad! That's the only JW figure I'm currently planning to get. As far as I know, this is the first toy of that genus since the ~1993 ThunderBeasts release, and this one is a vast improvement.

Edit: Thanks, avatar_IrritatorRaji @IrritatorRaji for getting all those images up.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Coelurus looks nice. People who's good at customization can make better feet and it would be really good. Same goes for various other offerings like the Pachicephalosaurids and Monolophosaurus.

DragonRider02

Ohhh I love the colors on that Coelurus! Definitely gonna pick that one, along with Monolophosaurus and Tapejara.

Also, the colors of that Styracosaurus reminds me of Schleich's...

Faelrin

That Coelurus is my spirit animal. Kidding of course, but I'm definitely going to get it (especially if the final product is white, pink, and blue).

I also love that Dracorex. One of my favorite genus names finally gets a really nice little action figure. Even if it was possibly a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus or Stygimoloch, it's still worth a buy from me. And as others have said, it could be used as a juvenile Stygimoloch if it is small enough. While the Rhamphorhynchus color scheme doesn't appeal to me the most, I do really like the sculpt (even if it is a retool of the Dimorphodon, but I like that figure so...). Its got its charm anyways. The Protoceratops repaint looks good too, but I think I'll be satisfied with just the teal one being released this year, once I get it anyways.

I'm not sure why the Styracosaurus is blue now, but it still looks fine. The Dimetrodon, Monolophosaurus, and Tapejara appear to be the same still, as does the Stegosaurus. The Suchomimus repaint looks okay, but I absolutely love the blue and yellow one I got on Monday.
