anyone else as conflicted about the albertasaurus as I am?

Yup, same here.
Reconstructions that totally didn't inspire the questionable head sculpt and armour on the Mattel Albertosaurus.

-its a nice sculpt and nice paint job
-nice articulation

but...

-it has these weird horns and snout's too short(is alberta even supposed to have eye horns?)makes it look more  like an allosaur
-its tail sucks

Ive seen quite a few of them at stores already, its like begging me to buy it  :o

and yet Im having a hard time finding the blue styracosaarus which I know I really want...

I'm with you brother. I thought I was going to get it but when I saw it in the store I passed it up, at least this time anyway. If it was $15 I would snatch it up but I'm not sure I want it for $20.

Think it will scare the kids?
The kids? This will give the parents nightmares.
Is that...good?
It´s fantastic.

Need to say more?

Will probably skip that one. The proportions are a bit too cartoony. And again with the tiny tails, those really ruin a lot of their figures for me.

I was so preocupied about posting the images and quoting the movie that I forgot to say what I think of the Indominus.

It´s awesome! ;D
But yeah, that tail...It reminds me of the Hasbro Indominus which also had a shot tail. Still much better than that one. I wonder how the action features of this one work?
We also have repaints, very crappy ones (the Baryonyx has the color of that prototype that was revealed some time ago). Definitely passing on these.

So glad to see a full view of that Indominus toy. The head looked amazing in the first look at it but so does this full view of it. I can't wait to get this. The Triceratops and Ankylosaurus repaints don't look too bad but for the Anky I would have preferred one in the JPIII one's colors.

Edit: I wonder if it is just the angle/perspective making the tail look short.

I am also loving how the quills look too. And we already know they did the teeth right from the previous up close pic of its face. By far the most accurate one so far.

WD Toys has some videos of some more pictures of the stuff. At the beginning of the video you can see its tail is a bit on the short side but not too bad.

Another edit: There is a Super Colossal Blue!!! And an elcetronic version of the Hatch and Play Blue! Also you can see the features of the Indominus rex in this video too.

I'll probably but all of the repaints because I'm insane, but I really thing Mattel missed a beat not making that triceratops black and green, that pattern would work so well for it.

stargatedalek

Super Colossal Blue was on my most wanted list right next to a Compy!

sister,  hehe. ;D

Flaffy,
yeah I saw that art and noticed the similarities when I googled some albertasaurus pics to see where Mattel might have gotten its inspiration.

as for the new repaints I was hoping for new carnotaurus and dilophosaurus paints. Im glad we're getting the ankylosaurus again but I prefer the first version paint much more. The Indominus is cool but I dont really collect the hybrid dinos.

I couldn't care less about everything that has been shown in that video with the obvious exception of the Indominus rex.

The look, the roars, the action features, everything about the Indominus is great ;D (minus the tail).

Hoping to see more stuff later this weekend (Amargasaurus for example?) otherwise the Indominus is the only thing worth of attention here.

PD: Good to see the same guy from last year still doing his job.

EDIT: Something very important is said in the video, these are FALL RELEASES. So that means no new figures until autumn. (Apart from the already revealed ones). Any idea as to why fall and not summer?

Faelrin

Yeah I am wondering when the month is when they start coming out.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek I think I remember you posting about that before. I agree that a Super Colossal (or life sized) Compsognathus would be pretty cool.

Ugly repaints, ugly repaints everywhere... seems like a common theme with the DR line.
I'm surprised they even bothered to repaint the concavenator, what a shame, the original looked so much better.

The indominus looks great, can't wait to get it. Hopefully it's just the angle making the tail look short.
Maybe this will hit international shelves for once?  ::)

The Indominus Rex looks pretty awesome. The LED throat function is totally useless, though. Probably, the most useless feature EVER.

Well, is Mattel going to have the decency to address their U.S fans that didn't get any Spinosaur love? Spinosaurus is more popular than 90% of the dinos that they are proudly showing off. I don't get why there is no repaint, action feature or any other new excuse to relaunch it.  :-\

Pachyrhinosaurus

It looks like Mattel was trying to emulate the unreleased TLW triceratops:

Perhaps it'll be part of the legacy collection. I might pick it up if I see it. The indominus looks good, too, definitely better than Hasbro's.

Kinda wish they retooled the spinosaurus, or made a new one entirely for the DR line.

People suuure do love ugly repaints of previous releases I guess  :-\

Your two for two, add a plus for the awesome dino damage feature/layers/squishy guts and I'd say it's worth it.

Glad someone else is loving the CB, I'm getting at least two, my niece and nephew loved the Colossal Rex the most out of all the JW toys I bought them for Christmas. Cant wait to see her out of the box.

The almost life size baby blue is pretty cool too. And I'm not spend 250.00 on that other animated one.

I heard the Indominus is for Fall. Another Wave should be coming in April ? One wave per quarter, they have to keep fresh items on the shelf to keep interest.  That said this is a non movie year so a lot of repaints/repacks are expected to get some new items on the shelves.

I think it was said somewhere that they couldn't release a spino again so soon, maybe Target's deal is still in effect?  My guess is it will show up late this year or next as a mainline release, probably in a different color?

Shonisaurus

I'm not a follower of JW's figures but JW's indominus inspires terror. The look is threatening and terrible like the one in the movie.

Jurassic Outpost is saying all of the ones seen are summer releases.

https://jurassicoutpost.com/toy-fair-2019-mattels-reveals-jurassic-world-dino-rivals-line-with-indominus-rex-and-more/

Collect Jurassic says summer or fall release here:

http://www.collectjurassic.com/new-york-toy-fair-see-mattels-indominus-rex-more/

Also high quality pics in both links.

Edit: Hold up. Did any notice the raptor on the I rex packing? Looks like Delta but different sculpt. Could it be Echo?

Another edit: Could be a prototype for Delta though. WD toys posted a new vid here that shows it on the back of the packaging as well as the wave 2 attack pack assortment which is interesting and could suggest the Indominus releasing sooner. Both Jurassic Outpost and Collect Jurassic are suggesting summer if not fall as well.
