That Carno reminds me of Disney's Dinosaur, the movie that influenced my then 3 year old daughter to love dinosaurs.

Except I think the carnos in Dinosaur were only about 1000 times better looking, lol! I would highly recommend purchasing any of the carno merchandise from the movie over this Schleich version, even though neither is accurate to the real animal.

Regarding Schleich in general, even their new pentra just looks like a higher-end chinasaur to me. I'm sorry to say, I think they resemble fantasy monsters more than dinosaurs. I would venture to say I think they are even worse than the original schleich dinosaurs. At least those has a weird retro feel to them.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

KesterTank

Why really? Old triceartops was way unrealstic It look like a ugly donkey Im asking about the replica saurus (2nd gen) and the 1st gen of these My old walking trex lost my color on his eye and it's look creppy I making a list how look like my Opinon
-Triceratops Replica It's look his 1st horn look like a thick blade look like Triceratops prousus
-Old Triceratops, Strange,look like blue?
-New Triceratops, Look more realstic and heavier
Only this about triceratops What i don't like new ones is only the size news one Some of them are same model and smaller. ;)

My Collection So Far

All i need now is a Kentrosaurus, Anhangura, and Purple Spinosaurus.

Derek.McManus

:) Nice collection...my son got the Pentaceratops for Christmas, my daughter got Quetzalcoatlus, she is actually an animal model collector but has started to diversify.

For what its worth the slightly older and larger Allosaurus and Apatosaurus (which my son has too ) are nicer models...at least from the play factor point of view!

laticauda

I hate Schleich. I find there prehistoric products to be overpriced sand box toys.   Despite my hatred for their toys, I do own the WOH Pentaceratops, Quetzalcoatlus, Stegosaurus, Carnotaurus, Parasaurolophus, Kentrosaurus, and the mammals Woolly Mammoth, WM baby, and the ugly smilodon that came with the Woolly Mammoth.  I am happy with them too, except for the Smilodon, oh well.  My wife got my kids the Saichania, and velociraptor which the kids enjoy.

laticauda

Example on how nice WOH Schleich dinosaurs can look when they don't make monsters.  Of course, this is the same sculpt as the earlier bigger version, but it iss still nice.

Tyto_Theropod

I agree, laticauda. The WOH is one of my personal favourite Parasaurolophus models. It has its fair share of errors, most notably the front feet, but on the whole it's a really nice, accurate Hadrosaur toy. You can see how much I like mine, 'Primrose', from the how much she snatches the limelight in my dios!

I was sad to hear that this figure had recently been retired - of all the figures Schleich could have chosen! That leaves us with the derpy chinasaur-posed Para from CollectA's regular line and the obese deluxe, the hideous Mojo, the JP-esque Papo and the shrink-wrapped Favourite (I'd say the last one is probably your best bet for an accurate toy of this species). But as I have said before, it would be nice to see OTHER Ornithopods on the market.

I think it's the bigger Para that they are retiring, unless I haven't caught up with the news :) What a shame then, this hadrosaur is one of Schleich's best.

Both are Retired. the big one was canned a few years ago, and the Small one was canned last year

Ever wondered what Goes into making these Models?

Unfortunately it gives nothing on rather or not any research is done on any of the animals

It's based on sales. Tragically Ornithopods seem to be bad sellers. This is kinda ironic, given that their mammalian knock offs, horses are (like humans) among the most often reproduced animals in toy forum.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

pylraster

Interesting. Not Schleich's biggest fan, but I do like the technology they incorporated here. Shame it wasn't used to make better dinosaur figures. :{

That was great, thanks Takama. I'm disappointed to know the giganotosaurus was 3D printed and it still came out terrible. There is so much detail that can be done with 3D modeling. Also I think all their research is simply trying to recall childhood memories  :P :))

I know they tend to get hated on, but I rather like Schleich figures  :D , although I haven't been a fan of their latest figures. the only one that really grabs my attention is the therizinosaurus, which seems to borrow its color scheme form somewhere...

but then again this may just be a case of parallel evolution. After all, the old Allosaurus is clearly from WWD.

Takama

I like the Thirizinosaurus because its so bad its good.   Whats supposed to be a Herbivore is made into Something that walked right out of a Godzilla Movie. Complte with a demented face :D

From the neck down it isn't so bad, id imagine that "thirizinosaurs"  ;) walked slightly more vertically than most theropods. As their center of gravity would be lower, due to the enlarged intestines, and it would have made reaching for taller trees easier.

terrorchicken

I hate skinny therizinosaurs. :P

I dont really really like Schelich's models and dont have many, I think I only have the old plateosaurus, the desmatosuchus and the old Jr saichania & quetzal. I had the sauropelta but sold it when I found out they left out the shoulder spikes.

their mammals are much better though, I have 2 of those....I wish theyd make more prehistoric mammals.

docronnie

Great video, Takama!  Thanks!

Saw the fake copies a few hours ago at Divisoria. I wonder if they 3d printed them. They were lighter, no Schleich marks under the belly and with some flaws.
Keep The Magic Alive and Kicking! :-)

pylraster

There are fake Papos with fake Schleichs sold as a set in Divi, Docronnie. Interestingly enough, they repainted the Schleich rex brown. Hahaha! I guess these are not bad for repainting practice. I'll probably get the fake Giga.
