Does anyone know when the toys from How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will start arriving in the U.S.?

Loon

I didn't know they were making figures for this movie. I can't find a release date, but I'd have to guess sometime this month. I know the Pop figures are coming out around early February, so maybe even then?

Also, it's been 3 movies and the toys are still so upsetting. Why do they all look so stylized? Can't we just get some nice, accurate figures for once?

CityRaptor

Aren't those things stylized to begin with?

Also a bit off-topic, but this Hybrid  totally looks like it would fit in:

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Yeah, but, I'd want the toys to look like the movies

Spin master dragon toys have just been getting lower and lower in quality.
IMO their best offerings were from HTTYD 1 and "Defenders of Berk" TV series.

they used to look screen accurate, now they're just lazily done sculpts that look like dollar store offerings. It's disappointing.

That one Toothless (action) figure I have isn't too bad for what it is, if going for film accuracy (proportions and such). I can't remember when I got it though (I think late 2015 maybe), or even who made it. I have some other figures I picked up earlier this year from a Toys R Us, prior to their closure, that are a bit stylized, but not too bad. I think Spin Master made those.

My son got the PlayMobil Toothless and I thought it was fairly accurate. The PlayMobil Snapple Fang was okay, but the StormFly dragon had weird feet, and proportions.

stargatedalek

The main series bothers me mostly because the production quality is so low. $50 for Toothless made of super fragile feeling plastic with gaping visible screw-holes? Not happening.

The Playmobil ones don't look half-bad, though are obviously (and excusably) very stylized.

A couple of the new Hidden World figures are starting to show up on both Target and Walmart websites.  My brother texted me last week that the local Target had some cave playset from the new movie and I saw both of the new Funko Pops at Gamestop as well.

Thankfully so far I haven't seen anything from the new movie that I need to buy, the last thing I need is more Toothless figures.  My favorite is probably the Mega/Alpha edition Toothless from the last movie, although that pales in comparison to the Sideshow statue.

Spotted the new figures at Walmart today, and... they're still upsetting. Though I might pick up a stormfly and Astrid set, because I love that dragon design.

Edit: I saw this figure online, these figures maybe the betters of the series, definitely more accurate than the dragon rider packs.

stargatedalek

That one actually looks pretty good. Definitely better than the preceding options.

Faelrin

These are definitely popping up in Target's and Walmart's in my area now. I'm thinking about getting some once March comes around, if not later this month.

A retool of it, it no longer has the action feature.

Aw... that's a darn shame. That action feature was really cool.
Funny how Spinmaster decided to release one of their best HTTYD sculpts alongside their weakest offerings.

Loon

I looked on the back of the mid-sized Toothless (the $20 one with fabric wings, in the open box) and it showed off a light fury and a stormfly that actually look pretty decent. I didn't take a picture, unfortunately, but the toothless figures at every Walmart I've been to, so hopefully these will come out soon.

Cretaceous Crab

My son finally got the set that included an armor-clad Hiccup, the light Fury and of course, Toothless. Both dragons have an "avatar" feature that if illuminated by a diamond (mini black light in plastic), flourescent designs become visible on their wings and back. Pretty neato.

However, while the light fury is well sculpted, Toothless's head/face is horrible. I hesitate to attempt a photograph, as I fear it may crack the lens! Just the eyes, and proportions are off, just looks very ... not good. The previous film's PlayMobil version is much better.

But the kiddo loves it and is not put off by it, so that's what matters, I guess.

Faelrin

Well I finally got around to picking up one of these sets. I also got some Build a Bear plushies (which will be in a spoiler, for those that have yet to see the Hidden World). Only none HTTYD related one is the Nintendo Pirahnna Plant, which I have a newfound love for, thanks to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Now if only I can get one of those amiibo's too...). I'm hoping I can find the single pack Light Fury tomorrow.

Of the sets that were at the Walmart I checked the other day, I obviously went with the Toothless one, even though it is kind of silly looking (but that is partly due to its action feature). In all honesty, I absolutely loved Hiccup's new armor set too in the film, so I'm kind of glad they went with that look for the toy.

Here is everything unboxed compared with my previous Hiccup and Toothless figures:

Here is the new Hiccup next to Owen:

Not quite 3 and 3/4 scale that Mattel uses for their Jurassic World line, but close enough to my liking. I'll have to get some pics with them and the JW dinos some day.

Now for the plushies:

Spoiler
Not too long after seeing the film (which I loved of course, and was heartbroken with, and cried), I found out that Build a Bear had the Light Fury and some others. I already have Toothless (with the red tail) and Stormfly from a while ago (missed out on the others though, dangit). I had to pick her up of course (and gave her the sounds too, because why not. No doubt my nieces will get a kick out of her when the next time they come over).

And here's the last one, one of the Night Lights (so glad Toothless got to have some offspring, and Hiccup too actually. So adorable):

The first one (Barf and Belch) is from a few days ago (that I forgot to getting around to posting), and the other one (Hookfang). Really just need to pick up a Light Fury and Meatlug at this point, which I saw were on amazon, and maybe the Deathgripper set.

And here is a look at them together on my aquarium hood:
