News about the production.

Hugo Cafasso has posted on the Facebook Dino Hazard page that he moved the production of the Irritator to Hong Kong and it's going way better than the Carcharo in Brazil.

They already made a few test pieces of the toy and are moving on to painting, to see what it looks like finished.

The color scheme the toy will have

If productions being moved to Hong Kong, does that mean the figure can reach international collectors easier?

Wow. Just wow.  :o avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro , I have these questions:

-When will it be available?
-Will it be available through Everything Dinosaur, Dan's Dinosaurs...?
-How much will it cost?

No release date yet. But it might be sooner than expected.
So far there are no plans to offer through these retailers.
Price will be calculated later, after production. Remember this is just a test. They have to figure out the final product materials before pricing, because it will depend on production costs.

The first lot will probably be reserved for the people in Brazil who contributed with their crowdfunding campaign. Only after those are delivered, production for regular sales will begin. I actually don't know how large the production will be yet. But I'll check and get back to you guys.

Wow, what a shame. I doubt I will get it unless it will be offered through either of those retailers (preferrably Everything Dinosaur as, since I live in Europe, the shipping costs are lesser), as they are my go-to stores.  :(

avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro Thank you so much for keeping us updated on the progress of this fascinating project.
Hopefully all goes well and production for regular sales can begin.

I'm anxious about the shipping costs as well but that test model looks already too good to pass up.

This figure is such an accomplishment! Great to see the project moving forward and I'm really hoping for good distribution.

Will regular production samples have this level of paint?
Or is this intended to be some sort of "deluxe" version?

That is a Deluxe version intended for the contributors of the crowdfunding campaign. In the campaign there were a few options of models, like, Deluxe Variant, Toy Variant (paint job a bit simpler), unpainted in colored plastic (like Invictas). As for the pieces that will be sold in retail, I'm not 100% sure which one will be available, if the deluxe one or the toy one.
But we will soon see the "regular" or "Toy" production tests. This will show how different they will be. I think that if enough people are interested, it would be possible to make the retail version more like the deluxe one.

That Irritator is outstanding! Really hope it'll be available through more retailers  :(

I have some good news for you.

The first model from the line, Carcharodontosaurus, was being manufactured in Brazil instead of China. The original goal of the brand was to make a dinosaur line 100% made in Brazil, but since the pandemic hit the country, things went off the rail.

But the main problem with production here was happening even before this crisis. The factory didn't seem to be able to make models with perfect teeth. Even after a couple redesigns of the original digital prototype, 3D printed matrix and metal molds, the production hit this problem of incomplete teeth.

Bubbles formed in the teeth of the Carcharo and they ended up missing pieces or the teeth got stuck in the molds when removing the toy. The soft hot vinyl would break and the teeth was left int he molds, what forced them stop production to clean the molds. The factory owner didn't seem very interested in solving the issue, saying that during production things had to move fast and could not afford to make each dinosaur slowly to get perfect teeth.

So, after a long negotiation it appears Hugo Cafasso cancelled the contract with the Brazilian factory and will be moving production of the Carcharo to Hong Kong too, like he did with the Irritator.

I'm sure the model quality is going to be way better this way and I'm happy about it. It also means production will run faster over there, because the pandemic here in Brazil is far from controlled, thanks to our governement's poor decisions.

Hugo says he hopes to have the Irritator delivered to the crowdfunding supporters in the upcoming months and probably some for sale by the end of the year. The Carcharo however will probably take longer to be produced, but Hugo expects to have it ready in early 2021.

avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro It seems to me that I asked you earlier in a part of this thread, but I will ask you again. Is there an online store in Europe where you can buy these wonders? I am very interested in the irritator since it is the best figure made of this dinosaur in the toy market.

I'm sorry to tell you, but at the moment there's no store anywhere in the world selling it. No even in Brazil. They are not done yet. The pictures are production samples, factory tests being made in Hong Kong. It will not be available in any stores outside of Brazil as far as I am aware of. The original plan is to sell them from Brazil directly to collectors. I don't think we can make a large enough production (not yet anyway) to supply stores worldwide.

The brand is in it's very early stages, but who knows what the future holds. Maybe things improve and the first runs are successful in turning a profit, so the brand can continue producing and possibly widen its distribution.

Wow, i need that Irritator. Beautiful. I'll read the Thread backwards to get more Info on it before i ask stuff. I hope there will be a possibility to get one of these in unpainted. Beautiful job!

Mattyonyx

The Paleo-Nerd site got an exclusive preview of the painted Irritator, along with some details on the upcoming international Crowdfunding Campaign. Some of you may not know, but the painting and mass-production of the model are supervised by none other than VITAE's Cheung Chung Tat!
There will be two versions, check them out!
