Thanks everyone! :D
avatar_Kapitaenosavrvs @Kapitaenosavrvs Actually you're the first one to ask, so I didn't even think about that yet, but let me shoot you a PM! :D

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Yep! I figured they'd add a bit more lifeliness to the area (and also are a bit easier to draw from above than ammonites lol

#61
Rolling in with another bigger update for very obvious reasons (since a certain paper dropped lmao)

An unlucky Lepidotes ends up as lunch for the giant aquatic theropod Spinosaurus.
After reading the new discovery about my favorite dinosaur I IMMEDIATELY had to jump on a quick drawing showcasing the new look.
What a fascinating animal!

Shonisaurus

avatar_PrimevalRaptor @PrimevalRaptor My congratulations on your great spinosaurus updated according to the latest scientific discoveries. You have made it "embroidered to reality".  :)

PrimevalRaptor

Thanks a lot! :D

Also I just noticed the link got messed up...oops. But it's fixed now!
Stopped working cause I deleted the original and reuploaded it to my new Paleoart Twitter (https://twitter.com/dh_paleoart/status/1256367981656973313) so feel free to check that one out if you're on Twitter! :D

PrimevalRaptor

So roughly three weeks ago I joined in on the Six Fanarts challenge with a small twist, doing extinct animals instead and here's finally the result!
(There's an odd one out...but I only got five actual animals)
Also my first prehistoric mammal!

Halichoeres

Nice work! I didn't see your call for suggestions or I would definitely have suggested a fish.

Thank you!
avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I did that over Twitter so that might be why, but honestly, I should tackle some fish in the future...there IS a suspicious lack of those in my gallery (apart from background actors).

And for a new update, just in time for Dinosaur Day:

Plateosaurus, also known as 'swabian Lindworm', a basal sauropodomorph dinosaur from all over Europe, Greenland and North America that could reach lengths of up to 10m.
A personal favorite of mine, I'm still waiting on an 'ideal' toy for it. The Bullyland one was close but is outdated now sadly.

That plateosaurus has been quite good for you, especially I highlight your realistic colors as they are muted colors it is great. I also miss a plateosaurus on the updated toy dinosaur market, it is a fairly well-treated figure throughout the history of the toy dinosaur and still deserves more paleoartistic representations in the form of toy (PVC, resin) or collectible figure (resin or partially resin). I congratulate you for the beautiful drawing and for the comparison with the human being at your side.

Stegotyranno420

What the Hell, that thing looks like a 3d model, buts its 2d.

I also like how it has a regular name. Swabian Lindworm

Hehe, thank you. I need figure out, how to Print them the Best way, since the Format is a bit unusual for most of the Online Poster/Picture Printing sites. But i will. Found some Frames aswell and will share them here, if it happens. If that is okay.

Thanks again!

PrimevalRaptor

Thanks everyone!
avatar_Shonisaurus @Shonisaurus  The colors are an update from an older drawing I did of Plateosaurus:

I really hope Safari tackles it again in the future, the old Carnegie does have something to it, but it's not perfect (and it's such an iconic animal too!)

avatar_Stegotyranno420 @Stegotyranno You can thank Friedrich August von Quenstedt for that one since the fossils of this guy are so abundant in Swabia. I do like the name a lot too!

avatar_Kapitaenosavrvs @Kapitaenosavrvs I'd be really glad to see that, very curious about if it'll look good printed. :D

And now for some new art! Got two pieces here, one isn't strictly paleo buuuut it's fitting.

Kijyo Koyo from Fate/Requiem, she's an oni and apparently the author had the idea of having her dinosaur-shaped, it's pretty unique I gotta say.

The giant anomalocarid Aegirocassis really has some Lovecraftian qualities to it, doesn't it?
Not only was it one of the largest animals to exist 480mya, it was also a filter-feeder!
That one was a nice challenge, started as a sketch in the Paleostream by Joschua Knüppe and I liked the concept so much that I had to do a full one. Also my first proper arthropod!

Halichoeres

I love the atmosphere on the Aegirocassis

The giant anomalocarid aegirocassis looks great from a horror movie, that pronounced gloom gives an image of the dark and disturbing aegirocassis.

PrimevalRaptor

Glad to hear that, thanks guys!
I did wanna go for a spooky vibe on it, kind of a mixture of "deep sea ROV footage" and "Lovecraftian horror" cause let's be real...if you're plankton in the Cambrian, this is your Cthulhu (or even worse).

I even did make a B-movie mockup while testing the lighting. :D

PrimevalRaptor

A bit more simple update:

Aerosteon is a large megaraptoran theropod known from Late Cretaceous Argentina.
The holotype measures around 6m but given that it was not quite fully grown, it might have reached up to 9m in length.

This is the winner of a raffle I recently held on my art Twitter.
Also I gotta say, megaraptorans really have a super cool silhouette, those long arms with the narrow skull? Really neat. And I really wanna do a size comparison with an entire formation (or at least the main players) at some point, those are really fun to make.

PrimevalRaptor

A bigger update (literally, it's in the name :P) that's been in the works for almost three weeks now:

The giant hadrosaurid Magnapaulia browsing apart from it's herd, not bothered at all by a resting tyrannosaur thanks to it's sheer size.
With a size of ~12,5m this herbivore is not to be trifled with.
Plants are my big nemesis so I'm pretty happy with this landscape and it's been ages since I last drew a hadrosaur, despite them being super cool! (But also quite tricky to draw lmao)

PrimevalRaptor

A bit of a quicker one this time, I just really like doing those size comparisons. :D

With lengths up to 14m, Tylosaurus was one of the largest mosasaurs, mostly found in the Western Interior Seaway (Cretaceous USA).
I think it's easy to see why mosasaurs are my favorite marine reptiles.

Absolutely love it! I guessed here will be some love for B Movies :)

Oh yes please!

PS: I have to be in a Rehab Clinic right now for 5 weeks (No, no Corona), And i will get your Artworks onto the Walls, when i am Back :) I am quite Exited to do so.

I don't know how it's restraining itself from chomping on that tasty scuba-snack.

Your illustration of the tylosaurus is totally outstanding, it is typical of a well-deserved paleo-illustrator, the comparison with the human is great, it would be horrible to find one with one more tylosaurus, considering that the prehistoric marine reptiles such as the tylosaurus and its relative the mosasaurus were perhaps from the most fearsome and lethal that have ever existed in the world's oceans.
