Looks pretty great. Hopefully doesn't become too expensive to buy, but who knows, size wise.

suspsy

I hope the next reveal will be one of the smaller tyrannosauroids. I'm keen to see the cassowary-inspired Guanlong.

This one is quite striking. I'm going to certainly be looking forward to the prototype of this one. Thanks for sharing avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy and avatar_suspsy @suspsy I'll go and add it to the main post.

"Today we have the next color design reveal for the Beasts of the Mesozoic:Tyrannosaur Series- Alectrosaurus olseni! Colors were inspired by the Juvenile Green Tree Python."

So for whatever reason I noticed most of the images I had added to the first post are missing now, when I went to add the Alectrosaurus concept art. No links or anything, like I had not added them at all. Did Facebook do something that caused them to be removed?

On a similar note they seem to be missing from the rest of this thread too, so that's probably the case. Guess I'll go and add all these to my imgur account so they don't get eaten up again.

Edit: All fixed up now.

The alectrosaurus from Beasts of the Mesozoic gives the impression that it will be a medium and not very large theropod. That is interesting from the economic point of view and from the point of view of a collector who wants to save space.

The arms look a bit big for Tarbosaurus. The proportions are more akin to Albertosaurus, which has longer arms.
Most likely a side effect of having to share a body sculpt with Alberto, Gorgo and Daspleto. Hopefully David will tweak this and give Tarbo its midget arms.

suspsy

The arms definitely appear too large in that image. But the head looks fantastic!

Nice pale representation of the tarbosaurus, what I see in that figure is that it seems small, is it a suggestion of mine?

Several people have informed him in the comments of the oversized arm proportions so hopefully he passes that on to the sculptor and this is corrected.

Alectrosaurus is the first color concept I could roll with, but fingers crossed for colorful feathered Tyrants. These naked ones are just not as floofy. Would be lovely if they'd release an even younger T.Rex juvenile with fluff similar to CollectA's or PNSO's efforts.

Which one is the correct dewclaw orientation in theropods? Maximum paleoarts and models depict the dewclaw in the reverse orientation (pointing outwards)as that one in the original skeleton. Do anyone have information regarding this topic? Please enlighten me about this issue.

A new day, a new concept.
My money's on Gorgosaurus, since the WWD3D rendition set a paleomeme of Gorgosaurus being blue.

It is looking like a weak and feeble creature.

I am not seeing that at all when I look at this sculpture. Tarbosaurus was not in the same weight class as Tyrannosaurus rex. Not even close.

I'm pretty sure it's Gorgosaurus as well. But regardless of its identify, that is one gorgeous colour scheme!

Dear Suspy, thanks for the clarification. I have no more doubt about the bulkiness of the beast which came from the skeletal reference given below for making the punny forearms, looking sufficiently bulky like its largest cousin. I have studied later the original skeletons of this beast and the location of pubis keel especially in T.bataar skeletons. Does anybody have a doubt about the dewclaw position? Will it be slightly downwards? Please shed light on this issue to clear me about this dilemma only which many paleoart depicts a some downward very much adjacent to that of the heel region. I have seen such representations in the Saurian T.rex or David Krentz latest T.rex resin kit.

I saw he posted this in the comments of the fb post for it:

It is indeed a Gorgosaurus- kudos to those who guessed it. And believe it or not, the colors were not based on the WWD movie version. I'd decided on the North American Racer snake before seeing their design (still have yet to watch that film- turned it off after the first 10 mins). But I had seen the toys, so perhaps subconsciously I wanted a blue Gorgosaurus because of that. I threw in some Mako shark reference too for some additional color ideas.

I got to say, I'm really eager to see this paired up with the Dromaeosaurus or Mountain Pack, or ceratopsians like the Centrosaurus, Styracosaurus, and Pachyrhinosaurus. This one is definitely on the top of my list (alongside T. rex and Yutyrannus and Gaunlong of course). I think despite the blue, it looks much different then the WWD movie design to me. In any case I am eager to see the finished version.

Will they correct the hand proportion later?
Yes, David confirmed on Facebook that he'll be fixing the proportions.

I don't see anything wrong with the orientation of the dewclaw. Most if not all non-weight bearing theropod dewclaws points backwards to my knowledge.
