The detail on that juvenile Tyrannosaurus looks great. All I need to see now is the colors on that figure. Fingers cross that it will look better on the figure than on the drawing.

suspsy

The completed artwork for the juvenile T. rex is up on Facebook now.

The completed artwork looks better than it did in that sneak preview; the colours are much darker. The adult may well turn out pleasing (for me) after all. Fingers crossed!

Yeah I think this is looking stellar. It'll be amazing to see this one (and the adult figures) finally finished sculpted and painted, even if that may be a ways off yet.

Edit: By the way I'll add this to the main post tomorrow. Going to bed soon and didn't have time today to do it.

Edit 2: Fixed up now.

Awesome! Definitely seeing the full painted artwork makes it appear a lot better. Really glad for the paint scheme now, seems realistic and not too bland as I thought it would be. All my doubts are fully gone now. Can't wait for these figures!

Colouring aside, I really hope the adult T. rex is way, waaaaay beefier than the BotM tyrannosaur designs we've seen so far. Ideally it should resemble this magnificent Sue sculpture from Blue Rhino.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy That's also like the Safari Ltd one right? Because the gastralia were taken into account (plus no shrinkwrapping)? I certainly agree. Plus that rex looks amazing (the sculpture).

Good God that is beautiful! Always though Sue was a bit odd looking with how low "her" pelvic boot is. Or maybe "her" legs are just a bit stumpy compared to other specimens.

Here it is for folks:

I'm relieved and pleased to see that the adult is appropriately beefy. Looking forward to seeing the completed artwork.

Wow, it is perfect and honestly I would not mind paying a heavy price for the 1/18th scale Tyrannosaurus. I have not even seen the actual model itself yet, but the artwork looks great. I may be exaggerating on it being perfect, but I can already tell this will be an excellent figure. Now to just wait a year until its release.

Dobber

Looks so lovely so far. I am looking forward to seeing a painted example. Still so long off though.

Yeah, that's the truly sad part. We won't get to hold one of these magnificent pieces in our hands till the fall of 2021 at the very earliest—if we're lucky!

Still, some things are worth the wait.

Gonna say too: I'm surprised that the T. rex artwork was revealed so early on. The adult Triceratops was the very last BotM ceratopsian to be revealed IIRC. I'm not complaining, but I wonder which tyrannosaur will be the final reveal. Tarbosaurus, maybe? Or perhaps the WWD-inspired Kickstarter exclusive?

Do you think we could have on as early as the fall of 2021? I'd think not until 2022 is more likely as the Tyrannosaur Kickstarter won't start until sometime in 2021. Or did something change?

No, you're probably right. I'm bad at keeping track of the projected dates for these things.

Doesn't the neck just back of head looks too wrinkly? I don't think it should be normal. Please Mr. Silva correct these little issues in the final model. The tail also bears excessive skin folding.
