2013 Figures

ZoPteryx

I know what two figures I'm NOT getting next year. *yuck*  I admit, it is nice to see Schleilch using more detail, but no amount of bells and whistles can save most of their figures! :P

The Styraco looks like a deformed hatchling, and what's with the horizontal pupils? ???

The Carno definitely looks like it was inspired by the illustration Tyrantqueen posted, but overall it's still hideous.  If only they had followed Gabriel Lio's work more closely! :'(

It appears that Papo has been very influential on them.  Now they too are drawing inspiration from questionable pop culture sources (from the 90s)
...The difference being that Papo do it well, and therefore get away with it. If Papo churned out a Carnotaurus, it would probably closely resemble the Disney one, and therefore not be THAT bad. The monstrosity above is very shocking.

Atleast they are lying anymore about working with the Museum in Berlin.
And compared to their other Theropods,  that Carno looks quite nice. Not that this is worth much.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Horridus

Its head is far too large for its body; its neck is far too short; its feet are far too big; it has 1990s tyrannosaur arms, instead of abelisaur arms; and its dermal scutes have been replaced by long spines.

But the paint job's nice.

How hard is it for toy sculptors to give Carnotaurus the stubby little arms that it's known for? Or even just do an image search on google for its skeleton?

That being said, the Carnotaurus does look kind of cool in a movie monster-y way (emphasis on 'kind of'). The Styracosaurus is just boring though.

they are 1/20,,

:o :D !!
Are you sure? Do you know how large a 1:20 Deinotherium had to be?
Looking at my Sean Cooper 1:20 Brontotherium I can't believe that the Mojö figures will be that big.
But if this was true I'd be blown away.

The Bullyland mammals including the Deinotherium are 1:24, so they'll be just a little bit bigger.

I don't see what the concern is over 1/20 scale--assuming they use the maximum estimate of 4.5m at the shoulder, the figure would only be 22.5cm tall. That's not really a  major problem (consider the size of most good sauropods and theropods).

No, the Bullyland mammal figures are all over the place, not 1/24.  (I know that is what it says, but its always been wrong.)

The Bullyland Deinotherium and Megatherium are 1/40 and 1/30 in scale, if you do the extrapolation ...

SBell:

"Only" 22.5 cm tall? And twice as long? For PVC figures that would be HUGE.  Look, I would be doing cartwheels if that was true, but the price on that figure would be prohibitive - think Papo Brachiosaurus or even more expensive ... so I very much doubt it ...

... but I hope they prove me wrong!!!!!!

Ikessauro

I would be very much happy with a 22.5 cm tall Deinotherium. 8) But somehow I doubt it's that big. Perhaps Martien could tell us the size of it in centimeters if he nows.

Well, he said they told him 1/20. The other option--go with a lower estimate of 3.5m (also possible) and suddenly it's 'only' 17.5 cm tall--well within some toy elephant/mammoth toys. Specifically, the big Schleich war elephant (my daughter just bought it) and Safari WW Asian elephant. Big figures, yes, but doable. Plus, 1/20 or so works best for mammals so that smaller animals can also be made in reasonable size, such as early horses or carnivores.  Otherwise, we are looking at really tiny figures that will never happen.

CityRaptor

Guess it is good thing I don't collect Mammals them. 1/20 Figures are likely going to be expensive and they would be out of scale with most of my Dinosaurs anyways. Not to mention the whole time paradox it would cause.

Are there still people who believe in scales as stated by the companies ??? ;D?

Oh, dear. I'm afraid I actually burst out laughing aloud at the sight of the Schleich Styracosaurus, I'm so sorry.

Good head on the Carnotaurus, but it requires transplanting. Now if we could only find a suitable body. As for the feet, well, clearly...

I know what you mean about that Schleich Styracosaurus, especially after seeing those glimpses of Mojo's resin model-like prehistoric mammals. :))
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

The Schleich Carnotaurus looks quite good, although I would probably not pick one up. As stated before, the feet is ridiculously oversized. Overall, I think it is one of the best painted Schleich figures---the colors are simply beautiful and blend in well.  However, I do remember that the 2012 Schleich Para (and the Apato to a certain degree) did not live up to the prototype, with respect to hues.

If Schleich could bring forth a decent Carno, imagine what Papo could do.... :)

that Schleich Styraco is just abominable (even worse than the last Triceratops). i think Schleich is making all these fugly dinos to spite the people of DTF, just for their own wicked joy. seriously though, i will still grudgingly buy that glaringly inaccurate/disproportioned Carno just 'cause it looks somehow cool. oh well...

Styrachosaurus

Carnotaurus

That Styracosaurus looks cute! But inaccurate.

The Carnotaurus is like that from Disney's Dinosaur. It's good, but it's feet ar too big!  :o
Carno ain't too bad. But the Styracosaurus looks like it has a shrunken head :x

UOO beautiful figures. Styracosaurus has beutiful colors and carnotaurus is very similar to dysney dinosaur. Carnotaurus is strange but he is not bad figure  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?
