(current) favourite models in your collection

I don't know about you all, but I could go for some positivity today.

Which model(s) from your collection is(are) currently your favorite? Why?

Mine changes from time to time, but I'm really interested in Deinonychus right now. So my favorite toy is the Safari Deinonychus, and my favorite overall piece is the Nick Fonseca resin model.

I think I like Deinonychus so much because there are so many different interpretations of it. I love diversity in my collection, specifically seeing so many interesting takes on the same animal.

It's possible these will be dethroned with the PNSO Spinosaurus... another species that I love because of the huge spectrum of artistic interpretations.

Jose S.M.

It's always changing, right now my favorite is PNSO's Lambeosaurus, it's definitely my favorite hadrosaur and maybe it's because I just got it but my eyes always go to it when I look at my shelves. Safari Deinonychus is a masterpiece!

Gothmog the Baryonyx

One of my favourite figures is the Favorite Co. Saurolophus ironically, and others are the Battat Maiasaura, Eofauna Atlasaurus and the new PNSO Lambeosaurus which I think will currently take the top spot.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

ceratopsian

Mine changes all the time too.  Currently it's the PNSO baby Sinoceratops. I find it so charming and there is something very comforting in its roly-poly shape and its cheerful expression in these stressful times. I like the way I can change its pose so that it's lying on its back one day and sitting down the next. Plus it's just the right width to perch on the ledge in my study where the cupboards give way to shelves. In fact I like it so much that I bought a custom painted one recently with a little base.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

I have to add that calling the topic "current Favorite models" spelled the US way makes me think you are talking about current releases by the company Favorite Co. And as far as I know they don't have any 2020 releases.

What do you propose as a better/more clear title?

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Either use the other spelling of 'favourite' with a 'u' in it, or don't use the word at all, like say something like "which models in your collection do you like most" instead, but I think the first would be easiest and quickest.

Alrighty there ya go.

Carnoking

This is a great topic!

I think my current favorites are the nanmu pieces in my collection. The T.rex and Spino in particular have blown me away! And as always my Battat diplodocus will always be a prized possession.

Faelrin

I have a bunch, which I suppose should be expected when my collection spans from the Ediacaran to the Holocene, and it does fluctuate, but I guess these are probably staying that way for a while:

-1998 Toyway WWD Allosaurus (WWD is what introduced me to Allosaurus, and was my childhood favorite for quite some time, so I'm very glad to have acquired this last year.)

-2003 Carnegie Collection Woolly Mammoth (Beautiful and hefty figure, and scales well with many of Safari Ltd's recent mammal figures mostly.)

-2020 Rebor Titanoboa (I am so glad to have this after all the years it took for it to be made thankfully, as not only is it a beautiful figure, and one of a species or genera often neglected as is, but it is quite posable too. Unfortunately going to be insanely rare in the future no doubt, so definitely one of my most cherished and luckiest possessions for the time being.)

-Probably each of the (minimal amount of) Kaiyodo figures in my collection, as most of them fill in some unfortunate gaps in the Paleozoic part of my collection. Definitely the Ichthyostega possibly the most of these, as it was a childhood favorite for me (as seen in the book I read as a child, which I also managed to find a copy of this year around the same time I got my hands on that figure). The expo Yi qi is also pretty great, and easily the most beautiful take on this wonderfully weird dinosaur available so far.

The Bullyland Fossils critters, and Nautilus (two of which arrived today, all of which were obtained within the year as well, and have been on my wishlist for many years):

Probably all of my Beasts of the Mesozoic figures, but mostly the accessory packs and Velociraptor and Dromaeosaurus.

I also love all the Paleozoic Pals plushies I have in my collection too. Still waiting for the Orthoceras and Gorgonops to ship out.

And some others, such as the Papo 2008 Allosaurus, Papo 2019 Spinosaurus, Wild Past Protoceratops.

For the Safari Ltd ones, I particularly love the 2020 Deinonychus, Dilophosaurus, and Ichthyosaurus, 2019 Carnotaurus, Citipati, Pteranodon, Styracosaurus, and Woolly Rhino, 2018 Ankylosaurus, and Triceratops, and American Mastodon, 2017 Deinocheirus, and Tyrannosaurus, 2016 Iguanodon, 2015 Sauropelta, and Yutyrannus, 2014 Ammonite, 2013 Gastornis and Cambrian Life Toob, 2011 Inostrancevia, 2010 Apatosaurus, Liopleurodon, 2009 Postosuchus, and Scutosaurus, 2006 Doedicurus, and the 2004 Smilodon.

For the Mattel Jurassic World ones, I love the Brachiosaurus, Mosasaurus, Battle Damage Blue, and Stygimoloch, 2018 Carnotaurus, Plesiosaurus, Postosuchus, Sarcosuchus, Scutosaurus, and many many others. I am very much looking to get my hands on that Telltale Jurassic Park game inspired Troodon as well.

I am unfortunately behind on CollectA's, Eofauna's, PNSO's, Southlands Replicas, Favorite, and several other companies that have had figures on my wishlist for some time now, hence why they are missing from this list, but hopefully that can be fixed up by next year perhaps. I did lots of catching up on Safari Ltd, Bullyland, and Kaiyodo, etc this year at least.

Lastly I guess I also really cherish all the merch I got from the Jurassic World Live Tour that I was luckily able to go to not once, but twice, when it came to my area thankfully, and a few months shy before it was ultimately cancelled because of the global pandemic that came upon us shortly thereafter (not pictured, but I did get the plushie of Jeanie the Troodon as well the second time I went).

I just recently got the PNSO Corythosaurus, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I was already impressed with the Lambeosaurus I got the week before, but the Corythosaurus blew me away a when it arrived. Plus, I like BIG dinosaur toys, and this is a BIG dinosaur toy. In photos, the head does look too big, but in person it's hard to find fault with it. Just a gorgeous animal figure.

As for extant animals, I'm also pretty taken with the Papo Black Tip Reef Shark I just got. I've been a fan of Carcharhinus melanopterus since I visited the Townsville Aquarium as a kid - they are such elegant, beautiful animals (without the threat of other members of its' genus). The Papo figure captures their grace perfectly.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

The PNSO Stegosaurus I think, is still my favorite, mostly because it's a gorgeous, accurate, and lifelike representation of one of my favorite dinosaurs. But the more I sit with the new Tuojiangosaurus, the more I think I have to give it the edge for pure craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Second place would have to go to a nostalgia piece, which I'd give hands down to the original black version of the Carnegie Apatosaurus. Pure Charles R. Knight vibes.

Shonisaurus

I have many favorites, although some for the time, since others replace them in genius, they fall into my collection in "disgrace" but not physically, I put it in quotes because each of my collection figures are honestly like my children:

My current favorite models in my collection are the pteranodon, procinosuchus, mastodon americanum, hyaenodon, carnotaurus, allosaurus, ichythiosaurus, ankylosaurus well ... I have a very long list of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals from Safari. My Store has not received them yet.

Of the Eofauna animals I like all the deinotherium, atlasaurus (it is one of my favorites) and also the mammoth trogonterii and palaeloxodon antiquus. and of course the giganotosaurus.

Of the dinosaurs from Collecta, the bajadasaurus, fukuiraptor, fukuivenator and microraptor and from the second wave I really like lisowicia bojani, saltriovenator, ammonite and the Moluccan pan but better known as the horseshoe crab although none of these reproductions are in my collection.

From the Kaiyodo dinosaurs any of their articulated tyrannosaurus.

Of Favorite dinosaurs I honestly like quetzalcoatlus and tarbosaurus a lot and obviously I really like baryonyx.

Of the Papo dinosaurs, the megaloceros and chilesaurus are my two favorite figures from that brand this year. The megaloceros I have to emphasize that my Store has not received it yet.

From Schleich the baryonyx seems to me a great figure.

And of course perhaps the most remarkable figure is the Itoy paraceratherium. I believe that no company is going to surpass that figure for a while and I leave it there as I also believe that no company is not going to surpass the pteranodon of Collecta 2021 for a while and I emphasize again I leave it there. It is my favorite figure this year. I think in the next year 2021 it may be perhaps the pteranodon

From PNSO I really like lambeosaurus, corythosaurus and borealopelta.
From Nanmu Studio I really like the tyrannosaurus in its three versions of paint and factory (I say it for the transparent one) (I have the three versions, the colored one and the transparent gift one) and I only mention the tyrannosaurus because in reality it is my tyrannosaurus The preferred paint version is the brown one, that is, the one with the most conservative paint colors, and to a lesser extent the allosaurus in its two versions. Actually it is also one, although perhaps I like the brown version more, it seems to me a more finished painting, although for many people it is the least beautiful or the most boring painting. About tastes there is nothing written.

On the other hand from W-dragon obviously the giganotosaurus of this year.

From Rebor, of course the titanoboa that was a gift from everythingdinosaur due to my dramatic vicissitudes or the unfortunate events that have happened to me this year and to a lesser extent the two versions of paint, especially the painting of the tyrannosaurus carcass although obviously my favorite is the brown tyrannosaurus for being of a more conservative color.

And finally from Wild Past obviously the protoceratops on branch called correctly by the brand, Sentinel - female Protoceratops and the "Raptors dance"

I think I have listed all the brands I have purchased from this year. I do not know if I need to add any more companies but those are the ones that figuxrs provided me.

As you can see I have many favorites so far.

Good idea :)

Over the last year or so I've accumulated some really exquisite fish models, but I think my favorite continues to be this little Diictodon, which was made from Sculpey by a forum member:

Oh the cuteness is back! That Diictodon is so lovely.

That Diictodon is actually a wonderful model. Whoever was the forum member did a fantastic job.

I love this forum idea and I got to say, I always change favorites when it comes to figures. I will always have a soft spot for Safari's Feathered Tyrannosaurus, as well as their Yutyrannus. However, my personal favorite figure at the moment is PNSO's Yangchuanosaurus and Chungkingosaurus diorama. I would say the Yngchuanosaurus is more favored than the Chungkingosaurus due to the difference in quality of the two, but both figures compliment each other so well. I ordered PNSO's Lambeosaurus and Corythosaurus recently, so we'll see if my opinion will change. Been seeing a lot of PNSO mentioned in this thread already, and I am not surprised.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres - I never tire of seeing your Diictodon.  It always makes my day when you find an opportunity to remind us of it!

Oof, hard Question. I think i can't answer this. My Collection is not huge, and i am still waiting on the new PNSOs.
I habe a few Figures i would consider as really well done. For Example the EoFauna Atlasaurus. To me it is the perfect Dinosaur Figure. Price ( In Germany), size, Sculpt and Paintjob are superb(!). I love it. But it is nothing special at all. You buy it, place it, done it.

My favorite Model must be something special to me. I really don't know. Of course it changes always a lot but at the Moment, without the PNSO Order, i would say the Figure i like the most is the Safari Tylosaurus. The newer one. Yes i know, but under that to me awful (sry) Factory Paitjob sleeps a Figure of amazing Detail and life. The Figure has some Resin Vibes going on and after a Repaint, one sees all the Detail, that went into it. The Paitjob really makes it unattractive. But The Tylosaurus is one of the Safarifigures that got alot of the original Sculpt from Doug into the Massproduct. I just love the Head. I really don't know why, but the Eyes tell a Story. I have that with no other (sometimes better) Figure. I can't tell why it is that way. I just love to look at this particular, highly Detailed Mosasaur for under 10 Bucks. It is a Steal. I never would have bought it just because of the Picures. It looks awful on the Pictures :D

EDIT: avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres That is one cute Figure! How big is it? Really beautiful Work

Sarapaurolophus

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Wow, it's so adorable! Who made it?

I gotta say, my favorite is probably still my PNSO Lucio. I like everything in my collection but Lucio used to be my Holy Grail for quite a while and so there is extra pride attached to finally getting him. The Amargasaurus is also one of my favorite sauropods. I particulalrly love his Mr. Ed type of grin ;D

One of these days I want to make him look more like his boxart/prototype with more vibrant colors but for now he's as is.

Halichoeres

Really enjoying people's selections!

avatar_Kapitaenosavrvs @Kapitaenosavrvs the Diictodon is about 18.5 cm long, or about 1:2 scale.

avatar_Sarapaurolophus @Sarapaurolophus it was made by avatar_Mr. Challenger @Mr. Challenger who is not very active here but will probably be pleased to know his sculpture has made a stir again :)
