The Mosasaurus was one of the most sought after figures when the line started and always the first to sell out. I highly doubt it didn't sell well. There are probably other reasons it never got a new version.

It is interesting that the Mosasaurus has never been repainted, or received any new versions for that matter. Must not have sold well enough.
I don't think so. It got a re-release in the 2020 line, same figure but different packaging.

Lynx

As someone who has bought the mosasaurus, I can tell you this figure did not struggle with sales. Almost every time you tried to check on amazon for it the mosa was sold out. This figure had a lot of hype and support, so the sales were pretty high. The mosa might have even been a best seller. As for why the mosa has not gotten a repaint, that is an answer we will never know. But we can try and make close guesses. Has the Colossal Trex had a repaint? No. Have any of their massive figures gotten a repaint? No. I assume it has something to do with how large the figure is.
An oversized house cat.

The Colossal T. rex did have a Walmart Exclusive (or was it Target?) Battle Damage version, though. That does technically count as a repaint.

Both the Extreme Chomping T. rex and Spinosaurus have had repaints/retools as well. I would count them as massive.

I was really hoping for the Mosasaurus to get a retool or something, to make fix its midget tail problem. Maybe we'll get one for Dominion?

Also, in-hand pics of the new Tyrannosaurus have surfaced. Impressed with how well the seams are hidden compared to the other Tyrannosaurus figures (besides the kneecaps). Glad to see that this particular figure doesn't have highly-distracting seams on the neck/head that plagued all the previous iterations.

It's obvious by now that choosing a "definitive" Mattel tyrannosaurus is no easy task. I wonder if I should hold out for a Dominion rex, to see how much further Mattel goes in terms of sculpting and engineering, or if I should settle for this one. Which arguably is one of the best rexes Mattel has produced.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy The Battle Damage line is a Walmart exclusive (edit: and handled rather poorly, at least in the US).

The new T. rex looks great (and the coloration looks really similar to the animatronic of the first film with the mottling and/or striping, and darker brown coloration, see pic below), but I really wish it had a consistent jaw coloration like on the Epic Roarin' T. rex. Despite being based on the CC T. rex design, it was also the closest to the original JP T. rex design in a way, with having that consistent jaw coloration to the rest of the head. Honestly I really hope Dominion's rex doesn't continue this trend of brighter jaws.

So far a quick recap as far as T. rex colorations go, the Bite-N-Fight and 2020 Extreme Chomping repaint are based on the FK color palette (if not the JW one as well), the 2019 Legacy green T. rex is obviously based on the bull, the Epic Roarin' is clearly based on CC's design, and this comes the closest to the original film animatronic's color pallette thus far (or at least during the night scene). Only ones in the franchise to have a lighter jaw coloration are the female and male T. rex pair from TLW, and the male T. rex from JPIII.

I like the tone of brown they used for this one, but I dont like how they executed the dark patterns and the belly coloration is bit too bright.

Also the seam line in the middle makes me think of the fragility of the Thrash n Throw...

yes. the tail is a real let down! I just hope we get more Plesiosaurus variants and any Albino Dinosaur would be FANTASTIC.

long as my heart's beatin' in my chest
this old dawg ain't about to forget :')

It would be swell if Mattel repainted the Pachyrhinosaurus and sold it under its own name. I would probably buy it either for my sons or my niece.

Just a heads up but the Amber Collection TLW raptor and the JPIII Pteranodon are up for pre-order now on Target. Looks to be Target exclusives and online only? Pretty disappointing I might add unless this is only applicable to the states.

Edit: I wonder if the shelf warming Delta and Echos (repaints, and one with a less then warm reception at that). If they carried Nedry and the Dilophosaurus I bet sales would have been better. The Dilophosaurus seems impossible to find outside scalpers now, in fact.

Also I forgot to mention but Target has this collaboration thing with Jurassic Outpost called "Beyond the Gates" where the third of each Wednesday new Mattel Jurassic World products (and exclusive to them) will be revealed. First two were the Amber Collection TLW raptor and JPIII Pteranodon. I assume the Nedry + Dilophosaurus + Jeep set will be next. Which reminds me I should add the new promo pics Collect Jurassic has shared for all these recently.

I'll add the dates and product lines mentioned on the Target website once I'm back to my PC because formatting on mobile is harder then I thought.

Lots more Amber Collection (some were already leaked), and Legacy Collection products on the way and more frustrated collectors I'm sure.

Edit 2: Alright here is the list of releases. And some promo pics of some of these.

First one is up (Amber Collection TLW Velociraptor (male) and JPIII Pteranodon): https://www.target.com/c/jurassic-world/-/N-4ybhy

-Coming Wednesday, 3/17
1 exclusive item from the Legacy Collection. (Probably the Nedry + Dilophosaurus + Jeep set, since that is slated for release in April.)

-Coming Wednesday, 4/21
1 exclusive item from the Camp Cretacerous (sp.) Collection. (Probably the Spinosaurus or Super Colossal Toro if I had to guess).

-Coming Wednesday, 5/19
1 exclusive item from the Legacy Collection.

-Coming Wednesday, 6/16
4 exclusive items from the Amber Collection.

-Coming Wednesday, 7/21
2 exclusive items from the Amber Collection.

-Coming Wednesday, 8/18
1 exclusive item from the Legacy Collection.

-Coming Wednesday, 9/15
1 exclusive item from Funko.

So in total 3 new Legacy Collection figures and/or sets, 6 new Amber Collection releases (+ the 2 up for pre-order already), 1 CC figure and/or set, and 1 from Funko.

Now onto the promo pics Collect Jurassic shared on Instagram, Twitter, etc:

Amber Collection JPIII Pteranodon:

Amber Collection TLW Velociraptor (male):

Legacy Collection Dennis Nedry Getaway Pack (avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp Kind of beat me to the punch as I was editing these in here, but I'll leave them):

I can't figure how it's an exclusive to Target when both EE and BBTS have it up for preorder?  I was just hoping for preorders the other day for some of these target items to help collectors get them and avoid scalpers.

Faelrin

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon I'm not sure. But the website is claiming these as exclusives to them. I wonder if those pre-orders on BBTS, EE, etc will be canceled. Perhaps distribution plans changed. Going to leave a lot of unsatisfied collectors I'm sure.

We had images of the Nedry set since yesterday, surprised nobody posted them:

Pretty cool, I really like the removable roof... and it even includes the stick! :D

Unfortunately, there is no Barbasol can. :(

Stegotyranno420

If i ever get that set(which is probably unlikely) i want to recreate that thing with the stick

Remember that scene :))

avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp I was just in the middle of editing and adding them to my post on the last page, lol, and you beat me to it.

I should mention I also added the promo pics of the Amber Collection TLW Velociraptor (male) and JPIII Pteranodon (which now have clear bases probably after too many complaints and jokes that the amber ones looked like pee puddles). Also the dates of the upcoming releases that are on Target's website with this whole "Beyond the Gates" thing. Lots more Legacy Collection (other then this particular Nedry set, 2 more) and Amber Collection (6 + the 2 up for pre-order as of today) on the way.

Just checked out the target site,  this is probably the most exciting news about this line in a while. 3 legacy items in a few months? That's almost more than the line's output in the past 2 years! I'm hoping it's that Nedry set, because... Well....

Here's hoping the next two are just repacks and repaints. Despite my optimism, I get a weird feeling these might be those jokes of story packs from a few years ago that never got released in the states.

That..would be a bad move.  I do see another out. Different paint. Both TLW Raptor and JP3 Pteranodon have two color options. The Male Pterananodon could be the standard and a female TLW Raptor. What gave me the idea is the Target page says specifically Male Raptor with golden eye color.

The "baby" (Wild Chompin') Carnotaurus Toro has been revealed now by Jurassic Outpost. Definitely along the lines of what I thought it would be (plus with the SC Toro continuing the theme from previous years with the Indominus rex and Blue).

Oh no, that is really cute. And I greatly prefer it over the Indominus and Blue.

suspsy

I really, really hope we get repaints of the Tarbosaurus, the Quetzalcoatlus, and the Scutosaurus sometime this year. I also hope just as much that they will actually be distributed better around the world than previously!
