I gotta admit, this shot is pretty cool.

The Stegosaurus is now available on AliExpress as well. If you purchase it with the retail box, the price is about the same as on Amazon. Without the box makes quite a difference, about 9 Euro. I do prefer to buy my PNSO figures with the box though, especially the Museum Line ones (I actually use Wilson's box to display him and other Hell Creek fauna on).

Still on the fence for this one, but I rather spend some extra money on the new EU taxes for the Yutyrannus.
I bought the Stegosurus pair from The Model Toy Shop on Aliexpress this morning, as it was the best deal around at this point in time. How did I justify the cost of this offering? Well, for me it's easy - other than two Safari's and two CollectA's , PNSO is basically  it for me this year (ordered the twin Eofauna trikes in 2020). So, overall, my overall spending is down sharply. However, I could be in trouble if PNSO continues or even accelerates their tempo of releases into the fall.

Almost $70 for a 21 cm long, mass produced, plastic Stegosaurus figure? Why? (I am genuinely curious. Maybe the mold for this was very difficult and expensive to make? Anyway, I'm out of the game, which is a shame, because I think it is a gorgeous little figure.)

I don't mind paying 60 Euros (or ~65 USD) for a figure. I've happily paid that amount for Wilson without the need to justify that for myself. But I'm not that big of a Stegosaurus fan to pay the same amount for it as I did for a T. Rex, which is bigger and has an articulated jaw (which I think ups the price of a figure quite a bit).

What keeps me from buying the Stegosaurus as well, is the fact that PNSO has already teased some models that are higher on my wish list. Especially that Triceratops, which I also expect to be in the Museum Line and therefore as expensive as the Stegosaurus. Since that one won't come out before the new EU import taxes are in effect. That causes me to not pick up everything what PNSO releases right away, well at least after the release of the Yutyrannus. For now I rather save up some of my budget to get that Trike later in the year.
But today, I'm just being father

I would always choose a Stegosaurus over a Triceratops, mainly because there are loads of really good Triceratops anyway, not too many Stegosaurus, that has loads of worse ones and few good ones.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Psittacoraptor

I like the Stegosaurus and I love the little baby it comes with, especially the bipedal pose. I also don't mind paying more for higher quality but I won't be getting this set because the colours are too muted and washed out for my taste. Sadly, PNSO seems to be afraid of saturated colours in general. I'm getting a bit bored of all the brown.

:D I would, too. But in my Case it is more a "I can't" rather than "I do not WANT to pay this much on a Figure"

Well, I also can't purchase all €60,- figures at once without making my wife a bit angry. So I can't as well ;)

Also I wouldn't pay that amount of money for each figure of course. For example: seeing how small it is, €20,- is already over the limit for the Pachycephalosaurus. But it is a species I like very much so I happily paid only a little less than that and I don't mind it. Fortunately, the prices for most of PNSO's models are quite fair if you ask me.

Come to think of it, another incentive/justification or me is that all of my collectibles on display are in dioramas. Therefore variations on a theme are highly desirable - such as these two Stegosaurs to accompany my existing PNSO Bieber. Especially ornithischians, over theropods to maintain an effort to be at least somewhat realistic, numerically. For that reason I'm excited about the future Triceratops too.

Dan's Dinosaurs currently has a nice sale price for the stegosaurus, 16 dollars off till tomorrow! Better get while the getting is good!

Exactly. All are bland, inaccurate or overpriced, like this one. For triceratops we have the 2019 and 2020 mojo brown ones, the 2 safaris, etc

suspsy

The first PNSO Stegosaurus is not bland, overpriced, or inaccurate. Same goes for the recent Wild Safari one. I have both of those and as such, I feel no need for the two pack, even if it wasn't so bloody expensive.

Agreed with avatar_suspsy @suspsy although I would like to get this set eventually. Granted as I am still behind on both the prior PNSO and recent Safari Ltd one those might be first on my wishlist just from being much cheaper.

The first PNSO Stegosaurus might not have much sculpt detail as this new one does, and may be a tad smaller but I really do like the vivid color scheme on it. The Safari Ltd Stegosaurus has a very nice sculpt and I'm not too bothered by the color scheme.

Edit: And while not as up to date, I still want the Rebor Woodland Stegosaurus as well.

This may sound discouraging, but I feel compelled to speak of the new Stegosaurus:

I have the Stegosaurus Bieber v2 in hand, and I gotta say - the paint is disastrous.
I have put mine in box and listed it on secondhand market.
If you are OK with repaint you are fine with Bieber.
Otherwise you better wait for a second, improved version that will probably come out in 3 months, like me.

Why would they release this one if they release an improved version in 3 months already? Has this something to do with Bieber being a crowdfunding project? And does this apply to more of the crowdfunded models from PNSO?

I am just saying a probability, if they had realized how bad it is.
At least, I hope they do.

Oh okay, now I understand. Is it really that bad? I mean the in hand pictures I've seen weren't as good as the prototype images, but they were OK. Not worth its price, but OK.

I´d also like to know. Was the paint on yours worse than on the one shown in the link posted by Pachyventer (Reply #1510)?
