New forum banner for 2022?

The current banner has been around since early 2020 (if I recall correctly), so it's now going to be 2 years from then. Are you fond of the idea of having a new one?

Personally, I would say it's fitting, a lot of releases have come out since then and I'm not even counting what is scheduled to be released in 2022.

I can think of a few prime candidates to be included on a 2022 banner:

-Beasts of the Mesozoic Tyrannosaurus rex.
-Beasts of the Mesozoic Dryptosaurus.
-Eofauna Konobelodon.
-Eofauna Diplodocus.
-CollectA Cooperoceras.
-CollectA Triceratops.
-CollectA Smok.
-PNSO Cretoxyrhina
-PNSO Livyatan

I believe this was previously discussed at the beginning of 2021, but I don't remember if we got a full answer to the possibility of changing the banner. Guess I have to go find that thread real quick.

I think PNSO's Corythosaurus would fit nicely on that banner with its beautiful coloration.

If we aren't going to have a different banner with each year's releases anymore, I would suggest doing one with some of the "best of" dinosaur figures. Some of my picks would include the Battat Diplodocus, Invicta Lambeosaurus, Carnegie Miragaia and Carnotaurus, and the Safari plants.

I'd like to see reveals from Safari Ltd and Mattel included (but those might not be until sometime next year. NY Toy Fair is when I'm betting Mattel's will officially be dropped, if not shortly prior).

I'd probably pick one or two from any of the major players at this point, like from BotM, CollectA, EoFauna, Mattel, PNSO, Schleich, Safari Ltd.

My picks:

Beasts of the Mesozoic 1:18 Tyrannosaurus (my second pick would be that beautiful Gorgosaurus)
CollectA Deluxe Paraceratherium or Pteranodon/Geosternbergia
CollectA Deluxe Triceratops
EoFauna Diplodocus and/or Konobelodon
PNSO Iguanodon (or whatever 2022 figure instead, such as the rumored Acrocanthosaurus?)
Schleich Nothosaurus

And then of course one or two of Safari Ltd's eventual 2022 reveals.

As far as Mattel goes (Dominion species spoilers below):

I think the Giganotosaurus will obviously be one of Mattel's big contenders and would make sense to have. Maybe the Pyroraptor too which should be pretty significant being the first feathered dromaeosaurid in the films? Alternatively if they have a non mini figure of the Lystrosaurus that would be nice to see too.

I agree that a new forum banner should not be created until Safari has revealed their 2022 wares. Mattel may not start revealing their Dominion stuff until Toy Fair in February.

And who knows, maybe Mojo Fun will also have some items worthy of being featured on a banner.

This is a bit of a tangent, but since we're talking about changing the forum banner, has anyone discussed updating the main blog banner? It might be nice to reflect a new variety of new & old figures that have been covered on the main site.

I agree that a new forum banner should not be created until Safari has revealed their 2022 wares.

Safari have already revealed their first 2022 figure at this point, the Patagotitan. Also, bear in mind this banner has been around since early 2020, so all of the 2021 releases (minus the BotM adult Trike) as well as a big part of 2020 releases (basically the ones that were revealed later in the year, such as a lot of PNSOs, the GR Spinosaurus...) are missing. We have more than enough new figures to work with. These are my suggestions:

PNSO Styracosaurus
PNSO Tylosaurus
BotM Guanlong
CollectA Geosternbergia
CollectA Cooperoceras
Safari Patagotitan

As a side note, I also agree the blog banner could use an update.

I would like the banner to include the paraceratherium or the spinosaurus from Collecta 2022, both are very nice or even the edmontosaurus from the same brand. Any of the three or even two should or deserve to be on the 2022 forum banner.

Top notch selection. My picks would be the same except I would include the CollectA Edmontosaurus instead of the BotM Velociraptor (there's another dromaeosaurid represented, the Kaiyodo Dakotaraptor whilst there are no hadrosaurids in that list) and the Mesozoic Life Spinosaurus (due to be released later in the year) instead of the PNSO Torosaurus (as there are 2 ceratopsians already in the list, a derived and a basal) in order to increase phylogenetic diversity (and diversity of companies as well).

My BotM tyrannosaur pick would be Guanlong, as with the Safari Albertosaurus, derived tyrannosauroids are represented already.
