Stegosaurus (Wendy’s Exclusive from Definitely Dinosaurs by Playskool)

…s through eBay, and understand that you may have to settle for one with a duller color scheme than this, as mine was one of the latest releases of these toys….

Dilophosaurus Ambush (Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary by LEGO)

…th dressed in the same garb, there are a number of small differences. This latest version has a dark blue shirt under his grey jacket and an all-yellow logo on his rain slicker. His visage is flummoxed and perspiring, perfectly reflecting the character’s emotions as he attempts to make his way to the east dock.” “Yeah, and his slimed face also has a different expression. Plus he’s missing the logo on his back and has orange painted folds instead o…

Kosmoceratops (Haolonggood)

…h, CollectA, Creative Beast Studio, and Mattel. Today we’re looking at the latest model to hit the scene, the Kosmoceratops by Haolonggood, one of their last releases of 2023. The Haolonggood Kosmoceratops is a diminutive figure that is absolutely dwarfed by the company’s other ceratopsians. It measures about 5.25” (13 cm) long and stands 2” (5 cm) tall at the shoulder. The actual Kosmoceratops is estimated to have measured 15’ (4.5 meters) long s…

Kentrosaurus (Jurassic World, Color Change Captivz by ToyMonster)

…ats provided ala Pokémon but that’s of little interest to most of us. This latest wave’s gimmick is that the figures (and slime) can change color depending on the temperature. The included card replaces the tokens of earlier sets, but cards were also used in the Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary set. The cards are cool so it’s nice to see them continue to use them. This new set mostly consists of familiar faces, animals used in past sets just with di…

Diprotodon (Deluxe by CollectA)

…don is known to have possessed a particularly powerful bite force, perhaps comparable to that of an American alligator. This enabled it to feed on a wide variety of tough plant matter. One 53,000 year old specimen was found to have the remains of leaves, stalks, and twigs in its stomach cavity. Grass was also likely a mainstay of its diet.  As I mentioned earlier, there is an injury visible on our Diprotodon’s right cheek has been injured, and unl…

Triceratops (Sideshow Dinosauria)

…sporadic arrangement. This lends a craggy appearance to an already prickly-looking prey item, as if its entire form is just a giant “Keep Away” sign. Much of it is artistic embellishment; Jorge did provide similar bonus armor to the Stegosaurus, but this is pushing the envelope much further. The result is a very strong, distinctive silhouette that breaks up the normally round physique of this animal, making it appear all the more dangerous, witho…

Tyrannosaurus Collection (Kaiyodo Capsule Q Museum)

…e brown on the lower jaw as well and yellow streaks along the sides. Those comments I made about the garish, toy-like paint job absent from the last figure do apply here. It looks like a child marked it up with some crayons. Luckily there is an alternative paint job for this otherwise stellar figure. It has a mostly brown color with several dark splotches and streaks and white edging in various places. It’s very reminiscent of various modern game…

Tyrannosaurus rex (CamoXtreme series, Arctic version, Jurassic Park 3, by Hasbro)

…‘Arctic’ rex certainly stands out in a crowd, whereas an alternative ‘Re-ak-a-tak’ (reviewed here) version of this T. rex sculpt is more traditional in appearance. The Jurassic Park 3 figures were released in several gaudy colour variants. According to the Jurassic Park Wiki, the ‘plot’ behind this variation is that “dinosaurs survived and thrived in different environments and evolved camoflouge [sic]”. Hence the series name, CamoXtreme – the ‘cam…

Prehistoric sharks (Toob by Safari Ltd)

…o endowing each figure with a different posture and distinct colour scheme, from the campy pink of the Scapanorhynchus, to the sharky grey-blue of the cretoxyrhina. All of the figures are glazed with an appropriately shimmering and watery finish. Sarcoprion Scapanorhynchus I highly recommend this toob and commend Safari Ltd for stepping out of the box. I imagine this was a bit of a risk from a business perspective, so I hope it pays off for them….

Coelacanth (Wild Safari Prehistoric World by Safari Ltd)

…4.9 (16 votes) This review has moved to the Animal Toy Blog https://animaltoyforum.com/blog/coelacanth-wild-safari-by-safari-ltd/ Although the figure is a modern animal, it is part of the ‘Prehistoric World’ line by Safari Ltd, so I’ll leave this link here on the Dinosaur Toy Blog in perpetuity….

Deinosuchus vs. Parasaurolophus Diorama (Dinosauria by Sideshow)

…al manner. Set in a flooded Cretaceous swamp, this diorama is the first to come with a pre-attached base of muddy water. Churning and splashing all around the scene, it is arguably the most interesting base yet seen in a Dinosauria statue, and a fine artistic endeavor. The construction is also rather distinctive. While most dinosaur reconstructions tend to emphasize the horizontal length of the subject, this scene is built with a more vertical ori…

Tyrannosaurus rex Maquette (Sideshow Collectibles “Dinosauria”)

…urus rex. It has tremendous power, personality, and attention to detail (even the feet appear to be dusted with moss from the earthen base). The only cause for hesitation is the price tag, which is comparable to a high-end resin kit, but this piece ships fully finished. This might not be the “prettiest” Rex on the market, but it is unquestionably one of the finest….

Brontotherium (=Megacerops) (Mojö Fun)

…u can enjoy Takama’s review and make your own opinion. https://dinotoyblog.com/2013/02/10/megacerops-collecta/ Mojö sticks to a traditionalist recreation and depicts this animal very rhinoceros-like. Instead, CollectA depicts the animal more horse/bison like. CollectA’s figure pose is more dynamic than Mojö’s, but Mojö’s figure is more accurate than CollectA’s. The paintwork of CollectA’s figure is more creative and better applied than Mojö’s pain…

Beasts of the Mesozoic Avaceratops (ceratopsian series)

…mmended. You can still find them here: https://creative-beast.com/product/1-18th-avaceratops-action-figure/ I would like to dedicate this review to my grandma Eva, who passed away years before I was born, and to my sister Lucy, who helps edit these for me. She is doing better every day. I hope she comes home soon to help me with these. She helps me with my animals from time to time, and I hope we can continue setting up the PNW Dinosaur Research I…

Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage (LEGO)(Part 1)

…of blue blistering bricks in a thundering throw rug!” “As I said, our greatest adventure yet! Come, let us unpack this enormous box!” “Doc, there are thirty bags in this box, plus a bunch of base plates and two instruction books with more than 200 pages each! We’re in way over our heads here!” “Bite your tongue, my dear Beth! We will do precisely what is done in the process of completing any LEGO set: take it on one step at a time. Now help me fi…

Xtractaurs (Mattel)

…gap on the top that looks very angular (even for an Xtractaur) and very out-of-place. It’s neat how the brow horns on Trance go up and then curve down, while those on Pindown go straight out. To the best of my knowledge, the shape of any ceratopsian horns is highly speculative, but it’s fun to see toymakers give each different type of dinosaur a unique style. Xtractaurs are a weird, unique toyline that never saw much commercial success. Most of th…

Stegosaurus (Marx)

Nasutoceratops (Wild Safari by Safari Ltd.)

…hen all you can do is swoon over the model. Can CollectA and Battat possibly match up? We’ll have to wait and see but they’re going to be hard pressed to compete with the Wild Safari 2015 Nasutoceratops! Available from Amazon.com here….

Six little dinosaurs (Tyrannosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Amargasaurus, Ankylosaurus, Spinosaurus, Triceratops) (PNSO)

…a long and narrow snout; and long and relatively low spine. I noticed the feet have four large webbed toes, so this represents a a semi-aquatic incarnation of Spinosaurus. The ‘extra’ fourth toe, by the way, is an enlarged digit 1, the digit is present but small in most other theropods (which have only three large toes). The posture is remarkable too: Nada (for that is her name) is sitting back in a crouched position. There is a speculative flour…

Prehistoric Diorama (Usborne)

…ins five three-dimensional figures, a large diorama and several smaller two-dimensional figures to be placed freely. Of the dinosaurs I only want to introduce you to three here, simply because I was too lazy to build up the last two for now. There are Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Diplodocus, Parasaurolophus and Stegosaurus. Each are quite large, the T. rex measuring 32 cm in direct length and the Diplodocus a staggering 68 cm. Assembly is quite eas…
