The Attack Pack Dimorphodon represents one of the smaller scale animals produced for the Jurassic World line, with a low price point of about $7.99. From foot to shoulder it only stands about 1 1/4 inches. The wingspan measures 8.5” and it’s about 5” long from nose to tail. Despite this small size this is easily one of the most fun and entertaining little toys in the Jurassic World line.
Aesthetically this is an ugly toy. Much like its movie counterparts it looks more like a gargoyle than a pterosaur but Dimorphodon probably wasn’t the most elegant or attractive pterosaur around anyway. There is nothing glaringly wrong with it that I can see, it even has pycnofibers along its back. There are no wing membranes connecting to the legs but for the purpose of playability it’s excusable here.
Most of this toy’s problem lies with its paint job, a drab gray body with some purple along the edge of the wings. A splash of black color around the sunken eyes makes this pterosaur look like one of Dormammu’s minions from Doctor Strange. Other paint jobs exist of the toy but they all look more like flying Hell beasts from a heavy metal album cover than actual animals.
All that said this is an exceptionally fun toy. It actually harkens back to and is reminiscent of the original Jurassic Park Ceolophysis pair by Kenner. We reflect back fondly on them not because they looked good, but because they were fun. And so is this guy.
In addition to an articulated jaw this toy also has a head that swivels up and down, left and right, and legs that rotate forward and back. The real beauty of this toy is in the wings. They’re on independently rotating ball joints. That means you can literally position this toy in any imaginable pose. It can fly, swoop, perch, and attack other action figures, whatever you want it to do. So simple and so perfect.
This is not only the best Attack Pack toy I’ve acquired so far but in terms of pure fun it’s one of the best Jurassic World toys so far. That’s a bold claim but when price and size are taken into consideration it’s a statement I can stand by. It won’t win any beauty contests for sure but as a little buddy to play with at your desk it’s in a league of its own. If you want a visually appealing and accurate Dimorphodon for display then there are several to choose from, for the simple joy of owning a toy, this one cannot be beat.
