As others have stated, I simply refuse to back this campaign due to the vagueness.

Is this a beautiful sculpt? Absolutely.
Do I wish this to be successful? Yes.
Am I going to regret not purchasing this? Maybe.

Hopefully everything works out, but I am cautious when it comes to kickstarters.

You will probably find me too carefull, but I find the cost of this figure too low compare to the quality shown.
Such a sculpt with a magnificent paint job as this would normally cost more than 100 dollars.
Yes I'm aware they make quite a benefit on those, but that price is not enough to be realistic.

And it comes with a base and packaging...

I backed it let's see what happens.

I'm propably part of the people who miss good deals thinking they are scam and who pay more for same quality products just thinking it will make them better ^^
Lets see...

I have been seeing distrust to this campaign for some time, and I don't understand why there should be any worries, really. I hadn't even thought of the possibility of it failing post-funding like some members have hinted, as I suppose this campaign was carefully designed and calculated by its creator. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the main difference between this campaign and the previous ones is that in this one considerably less figures will be produced, hence the lower funding goal.

avatar_The Darknix @The Darknix or Blayken himself also said they're open to any questions or enquiries, so if any of you want to know about anything regarding the funding or anything else, simply go and ask them.

The campaign is now overfunded by nearly 6k €, which means he will have the funds to produce the copies he had initially planned to produce and more. And the way I see it, if the feasibility of the project is doubtful, supporting it would be a good idea in this case. Even if it sounds contradictory, one thing is for sure: the more money he receives, the more feasible the project will be.

Also, I said I hadn't thought of the possibility of it failing because it would be such a disaster that I assume Blayken designed it to make sure that wouldn't happen. And even in the worst possible situation (the funding is not enough), which again, lacks any reason to happen: there's no doubt in my mind that everyone would be reimbursed, just like it happened in the first campaign (before the previous Kickstarter one). I don't know Blayken personally, but he's clearly a well-known content creator and I'm sure he wouldn't scam anyone. It would be pointless and damaging to his image.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Didn't they even refund people last year when the website pre-order thing didn't quite work out? I mean they wouldn't have done that if they were going to just take the money and run with it. Edit: Sorry I missed it earlier where you did mention that.

That said I do think folks fears are valid, especially for a companies first release. Let's hope it goes smoothly. In any case I'm willing to take that risk, if it can lead to better things in the future for them and of course the Spinosaurus itself.

Well, it be done. For the moment. Yup, I backed old Ramses (not to be confused with the condom of that name), & share everyone's excitement & trepidation about where this goes. That wonderful paleoartisans like Ramos & Baardse, et alia, have been deeply involved obviously didn't hurt in lending the campaign lip-smacking credibility & excitement.

What's bothered me is Kevin's distance. It's odd, the big ambition of his goals (figures & videos), the thinness of his communication: not a tenth of the consistent devotion, transparency, & detail that David Silva projected even in the midst of driving his much more complex campaigns. Well, no one's perfect. But I'm sure that if Kevin had brought more spark to his showmanship -- he could've done worse than to use David as a model -- he would've Kickstarted this Spino the heck to Neptune. As it is, he did very well, anyway, relative to his original goal. I hope it's the start of something really worthy on all fronts.

I asked Blayken what chances do people interested in the Spinosaurus but who didn't reserve it via Kickstarter have, and he said that the remaining units (if there are any) from the campaign will be sold through Amazon (and maybe some specialised stores as well), and also, that if he considers the demand and benefits to be enough, he would consider releasing another wave of figures.

He also told me that Kickstarter takes up to around 2 weeks when it comes to processing the funds raised from the campaign, so don't worry if you don't see any updates during that period. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Backerkit and process updates: the funds from Kickstarter should complete transfer by June 22, and the expected timeline for production has been established. Options to order both painted and unpainted versions are now being added on the Backerkit.

Does anyone who is familiar with the therizinosaurus and Papo Spinosaurus 2019 offer some insight to how the latter might compare to the MLP Spinosaurus?

Sim

I'm surprised Concavenator, which has some good figures of it, got more votes than Meraxes, which seems popular and has no figures.

As am I. But oh well, I have yet to see one to my complete liking, so maybe i'll like theirs.

Carnoking

Meraxes is fairy new on the scene, Concavenator probably has the name recognition going for it.

When I found out about the poll it was too late to vote; otherwise, I would have voted for Meraxes.

Yeah, that's probably what happened and I think it also helped that there's a ML Concavenator design already which many people would like to have as a figure, similar to their Spinosaurus.

Concavenator doesn't have good figures. I was waiting for a new good updated figure from one of the most complete medium sized theropods and in my opinion, Safari didn't get it.
So I'm happy it will receive finally the figure it deserves. Their 3D model is pretty good.
