Got the new CollectA Shastasaurus and Mosasaurus up. Also corrected the release date info for the Papo Kronosaurus and Mosasaurus to be 2023.

No code for the Shastasaurus yet, but I'll get an image uploaded for the Mosasaurus when I'm back on my laptop.

Got the last two of the newest 2023 CollectA reveals up. Added an image for the Mosasaurus now. Still some missing codes, so no images for now unfortunately, but in due time I'm sure.

Sim

I noticed the PNSO Amargasaurus repaint isn't listed on the dinotoycollector site.

Faelrin

I think I'm behind on adding the Ankylosaurus repaint/re-release as well. Thanks for the reminder. I'll probably get to it sometime this week.

Is there anything else from PNSO I'm behind on adding, aside from those (excluding the limited bronze statues)?

Added the PNSO 2021 repainted Amargasaurus, and made a note on the Ankylosaurus (it didn't look to have a new product page, but just slightly updated?) regarding the updated paint deco in 2021 for it. Added all 6 versions of the new Nanmu JW styled Giganotosaurus.

Concavenator

I noticed the CollectA Koolasuchus doesn't have an image up.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @5aurophaganax The way the system works is that images are tied with the product codes that are entered. So like an image to be added has to be named with the company name first, and then the product number. I noticed some of avatar_Everything_Dinosaur @Everything_Dinosaur 's images had them, and some did not. So those that did I added. The Koolasuchus and several others did not have them from what I saw. Once they become available (unless they are now?) I can add them in and get the images up.

may i ask to merge "Prehistoric Life" and "Standard Size" series for CollectA into 1 category?

DinoToyCollector

Dear dinotoycollector.com-users,

Four years ago, I launched this website and a lot has changed since then, especially in the beginning. It's been quiet for a while now and I am grateful for the help and updates provided by the mods. With over 600 users, I can say that the site has been a success.

I have recently found someone who is willing to support me in this project and help clean up the code, making the site more future-proof and easier to implement new features. If you have any suggestions for features that you would like to see or are missing, or if there is anything that you think could be removed, please let me know.

I will also be giving the mods insight into the development process, which will take about 1-2 months. Thank you for your support and I hope that you will continue to use and enjoy the site.

Man it really has been that long hasn't it? Wow. Congrats on having it for this long. I'm very glad to have been able to help out when and where I could, and hopefully to keep doing it in the future as well.

Speaking of this, as you work on the database avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin what feels like needed information and what feels kinda off for the products?
Of course I will get rid of the german-english mix to keep it consistent (even I lost track) and I want to use table cells for height, length, width instead of just 'size'. 'Species' will be the only thing need to be filled. Another Table will give information like location, Period etc. to save time and work and to unify information. Also I think RRP for € / $ / £ will be better to give a better idea of the prices.

Faelrin

avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector So for starters the "Add new" button for adding new companies, and lines, does not work currently. It just pops up a duplicate of the product, add new page. I've had to resort to importing entries if anything has a new line (such as Mattel does every year, or others on occasion, etc), since the current menu is a drop down compared with what was there in the past. Likewise this also goes for any new groups of animals and sub groups that haven't been represented before. It rarely happens, but it can.

For size, length, height, and width all exist on the product, add new page, but only the length shows up for the end user. Furthermore there's no measurement of size listed. I've been putting things in cm (such as for the PNSO, Nanmu, etc), but I think it would help to have that measurement visible for the end user.

For price I think a system where the user could set their default currency and have it converted could be helpful, or to have several different options concurrent, if applicable. Honestly though I haven't really used it much except for Japanese only figures (such as Takara Tomy or Kaiyodo), with their prices in yen, since figure's prices could differ from one currency to another (such as Mattel's, etc), let alone retailer to retailer, and I wouldn't even know what to use, unless there's a source to go with (such as Safari Ltd's page, which is a US based company, for example).

I've not really sure what purpose having scale and scale exact is for. Is that for like when a company claims something it is 1:40, but is say another scale like 1:35? I think it makes more sense to put in the actual scale if known, or ignore it altogether. In any case I haven't really made any use of it lately, except for some of Doug Watson's Safari Ltd sculpts in the past, since that's not my forte.

I think a new image system that isn't purely tied to the product codes would also be helpful. This would allow an image to be uploaded even if the product number is not currently known (otherwise would need a placeholder name). I also haven't really been able to add multiple images successfully in the past, despite following the naming convention on the add image page. There aren't too many instances of where this is needed, but the BotM figures are a good example. I think it would be also good to have something where older images (such as ones tied to the product code) could be updated. It would save me (if not others) the trouble of needing to have to ask you every time something needs updated or fixed.

I also have two companies that need images added and I'm not sure how to go about doing that. The companies are specifically Ancestors Models, and Qualia atm.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin if that's helpful, I provided these images that could be used as the companies' logos on the site:

QuoteWe appreciate you going through the effort of updating the site, thank you avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin

When it comes to Ancestors and Qualia, I have been searching for images of the companies' logos and came up with a solution. I downloaded images where the logo appears, and after some cleaning up on the images (like removing the background, converting them to jpg, and increasing the images' resolution), here are the logos:

On another hand, if you feel like it, could you please change the images for the BotM Alectrosaurus and Yutyrannus? The former appears with just the concept art, and the latter looks to be a photo of the prototype. It would be better to change it for a stock photo for a consistency reason I think. Here are the pics:

On another note, getting pics up without having them necessarily tied to product codes only seems like an upgrade to me.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin
Thank you for your detailed answer. The moderation process should be smoother at the end. Also, adding images will surely no longer be linked to product numbers, but only to the product itself. This should also create the possibility to delete and edit images. I would like to design the units in cm and convert prices accordingly (according to geolocation or user settings). "Scale" and "scale exact" was just a way to classify the items (scale) and then specify the "exact scale" in the product field (scale exact) - just so that nobody complains "but it's more like 1:32 instead of 1:35...".

By the way, I have inserted the logos for the two companies. Thank you avatar_Concavenator @5aurophaganax  :)

I was looking on what I think is Eikoh's website, it was linked to in the Eikoh new for 2021 thread by avatar_postsaurischian @postsaurischian, and I noticed there are four figures not on the dinotoycollector website, it's the tyrannosaurid, ceratopsid, dromaeosaurid and pteranodontid grouped together here: https://eikoretto.jp/shopbrand/ct66/page2/recommend/

Concavenator

I noticed a typo. When browsing, aside from "Styracosaurus" there's another entry (for species) that says "Styracosaruus".

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim Thanks for sharing those. I'll try to get them added later today.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Any idea which particular figures have that?

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin it's the 2019 Takara Tomy "Arts" figure. Based on the description it's a gacha figure.
